I love all the keyboard warriors in the comments defending their favorite brand. Look, they're all known for something that they suck at. No one brand is any better than the others. These days you kind of just have to pick the problem that you're most comfortable with inevitably having down the road. This is coming from a Ford owner. I love my car, but I still know that the brand has certain issues.
True. I love Ford but own a Sierra Denali. It was more comfortable and comes with the 6.2l. But it has the cylinder deactivation that I have to contend with. The F-150 has turbos that I’d have to deal with. They all have something so pick what you want to deal with or pick what you think looks good and enjoy it.
There are certainly choices an automaker can make that will increase the reliability of a vehicle. All new vehicles will get at least 100k miles. The older the vehicle platform, the more reliable it is. That's probably why the Tundra was the most reliable. That will probably change when they switch over to a twin turbo V6. Turbos are less reliable for each one you add. V pattern is less reliable than inline. Now the reliable trucks are going to be GMs and Rams if you can get past the stigma. Oldest drive trains with fewer areas of failure. Air suspension will be the big problem with the Ram. Expensive to replace and it will fail if not replaced as part of regular maintenance.
@@KevinSmith-qi5yn I agree mostly here, but my step dad is a master tech for GM. Their engines in their new trucks are garbage, and Ram is part of FCA. So there's tons of electrical issues. Then there's Ford, still can't make a good trans.

The lease situation, you are going to either have to buy it out and depending on your finance rate you might be better off doing that early. Or, take advantage of the market and lack of trucks and sell it before the market goes to normal again. Or, simply trade it for another before lease is up, you'll take a slight hit due to high mileage but won't have to pay $$$ per kms penalty. Or...park it lol.

I'd bet James' EV will be a Mustang Mach-E GT or a Telsa Model Y Performance, because he'll want space and practicality as a "man of the people," but also sphincter-clinching acceleration to show up Thomas.
Love my 2021 nissan titan but no one ever gives them a shot. I had no truck brand allegiance when I started shopping and immediately fell in love when I drove it
My grandpa had a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie EcoDiesel (Twin turbo diesel V6). Very nice truck. Definitely had some reliability issues though. That EcoDiesel was known to have problems. He always got a new truck once the warranty was up, so he didn't have to pay for any of it, but it did go through 3 brand new motors. And the air suspension is great until it breaks.
Yeah I've ran into the same issue with my WRX, hit the Lease km limit by like month 8 into owning it. Whoops, I thought working from home would cut down on the kms but now I just go out and enjoy driving it.
Me and a buddy drove from Johnstown PA to ironwood Michigan in his 2019 Ram 1500 longhorn just this winter. Hauling aircraft jacks in the bed, still got around 18 mpg over the near 2000 mile trip. Truck had heated seats and steering wheel, adjustable pedals, and good tech. Great truck🤙🤙

Thomas, i saw you in the very long line at Service Ontario this morning. Wanted to say that i really enjoy the content from your channel, but didnt get the chance - thank you both!
I just traded my 1500 Limited in a few months ago. The idea behind buying it was to get something nice like my Jaguar with the utility of my old crappy truck. i literally traded both vehicles in on this thing. It was the perfect combination. Problem is that I was scared to haul a load of pillows in it because it was too nice. For me a truck requires a few things: 1. AC hasn't worked in >3 years. 2. It has to have its own peculiar odor that you can't quite put your finger on. 3. If standing outside anywhere around the truck there should be a unique story behind any body panel. Something along the lines of "and that's where I backed into the state trooper". 4. Duct tape holding something that by law should not be duct taped. 5. Enough dirt on it so that if you have to escape a murder scene you can run it through a carwash and it turns from brown to something like white. Think the movie "The Jackal".
I like your truck! Enjoy it, I know you will! One thing though: I read BAAAAAD things about that air suspension in the Canadian winter.. It's a lease though, so..
WHAT?? No long-horn edition so you could wear cowboy hats/boots and pressed wrangler shirts/pants. Just think of the belt-buckles you could get away with! bah. fine. also nice job on a realistic choice
Deep dive into the 5.7L reveals the best way to avoid the tick is to ride it hard. Also it's usually an exhaust bolt due to the expansion of dissimilar metals.
That Ram as a BAMF (Pulp Fiction) truck... The black on black is a great look as long as you wash it! I think you guys made the right choice in leasing this over the f150.
True, all these people saying that a truck is not meant to be comfortable. When your towing like 200-400 miles a day or just going to work or even a road trip. Comfort becomes a priority. I got a Ram 2500 Cummins and that truck is super comfortable. I drive 120 miles every day round trip with out getting to work tired. My friend has a 2020 platinum f250 and prefers to drive his beat up 2001 Silverado 1500 cause it’s more comfortable than that 80k ford. Says his f250 is like driving an old leaf spring Jeep.
@@janoycresnova9156 around a 65k (usd) truck, the payment monthly (60 months) is probably around 600 (usd). So if you have a job, make around 1,200 a week that's around 5k a month, let's 200 for insuring it, and $40 a week in gas, which is 120. So once a month your paying 920 (usd)
I bought a 2006 Nissan Titan for $600, put $150 of work into it and it has been great! I’m not a truck guy but I couldn’t not buy one for $600 that needed minimal work. It is super comfortable and has a lot of nice luxuries for a vehicle that is 16 years old. 250,000 miles it’s not leaking a drop of oil and runs great. This comment contains no useful information, just wanted to brag.
Guys, good luck with the truck. Really enjoy the channel..got to up your game though on the truck side, especially if you are going to throw those friendly barbs out to us 50 plus age guys like you did in an earlier vid in the “what truck are we gonna buy” series. We old guys know stuff like the fact that the Silverado does have an auto 4 wheel drive setting when you say here that it does not. And maybe it is the 50 plus thing again, but I like that hood and I would never “randomly” punch someone in a bar.
That's an interesting choice, Bembli (Sketch Monkey) just traded his Model 3 for a Ram Rebel! I'm helping my dad pick out a truck and your videos have been enjoyable and even a little bit helpful 😉
One thing they didn't mention is that ram also tops the reliability aspect in terms of trucks according to consumer report. Far surpasses the gm line and f150.
We have the same thing, but with the eTorque Hemi. The hybrid is insanely fast off the line. I also have a 19 Silverado Z71 and it has auto 4wd as well. Arguably better auto 4wd. The Ram is way more refined, but the Silverado is more fun to drive and tows more due to the max tow package and 3.92 gears.
I just bought a nice F-150 for $6,000...it's a 1989...and it has the inline-6 300cid 4.9L... and it's a manual 5-speed... it has a cap... and I like it.
You have ability to buy out the lease at the end of the term. Weigh cost of milage overage verses lease buy out cost along with value of the truck via private sale. In your case hopefully the used market is still extremely exaggerated in pricing.

I'd bet James' EV will be a Mustang Mach-E GT or a Telsa Model Y Performance, because he'll want space and practicality as a "man of the people," but also sphincter-clinching acceleration to show up Thomas.
I would love to see you guys review a Lucid. They are expensive as heck, but you guys review Rolls Royce's all the time.
Thomas: I....I...My...I...I....My...
James: We...Our....Our...Our....We....
Thomas is claiming sole ownership of the truck 😂
Yeah I've ran into the same issue with my WRX, hit the Lease km limit by like month 8 into owning it. Whoops, I thought working from home would cut down on the kms but now I just go out and enjoy driving it.
Me and a buddy drove from Johnstown PA to ironwood Michigan in his 2019 Ram 1500 longhorn just this winter. Hauling aircraft jacks in the bed, still got around 18 mpg over the near 2000 mile trip. Truck had heated seats and steering wheel, adjustable pedals, and good tech. Great truck🤙🤙
The pic of Thomas w the car and his wife (?) is so adorable they’re so cute.
I started watching you guys... Well actually, I started watching Thomas years ago... He was always great, but with James... They are DEFINITELY the best new- age car journalist Canadian/Britaineselaaaaaaa duo... Better than the other canadians... Straight pipes is good too... But this show is definitely more for heavy car enthusiasts =)).... Btw GREAT PICK on the truck.... I got the same exact one! Best choice!
I like the main channel obviously but I could watch extra throttle house all day bc you 2 just doing improv is hilarious
Thomas, i saw you in the very long line at Service Ontario this morning. Wanted to say that i really enjoy the content from your channel, but didnt get the chance - thank you both!
Jesus, you picked the right one? Fantastic job, Fellas!
James should get the VW ID 10 Turbo for his next car.
For me a truck requires a few things:
Just remember to keep that oil level full & change it when recommended. You don't want to develop the dreaded Hemi Tick
Never stop explaining that its the extra channel not the regular channel it’s my favorite part lol
I find it funny that he doesn’t like the hood even though any ram with hemi has that hood and ram officially calls it the “power bulge”
I own two new rams with hemi’s and neither have that hood.
I just love your videos, and you guys are just topnotch! By far my favorite car channel 😃
These new Rams are real nice. Nothing they’re really lacking compared to most luxury SUVs.
Too bad the price is pushing 6 figures. They better be real nice.
@@janoycresnova9156 That's insanely expensive for a truck.
@@janoycresnova9156 same thing with every higher end pick up these days. Even clean older trucks are bringing huge money right now.
Hope you enjoy it and would love to see a months in update on how it's holding up.
Congrats on getting your new house
Here is the genesis of Throttle House being a Truck Channel.
Congratulations guys! This was a fun journey! I was really feeling the f150 too even though Thomas hated the ride. Shame they’re backordered
Good choice! I got the same one. I enjoy it everyday.
Please Never Stop Being Unbiased...ish. Im tracking. Keep it up
Bought a new ram in 2015 85000 miles only changed oil tires and pads.love the hemi!!
That's an interesting choice, Bembli (Sketch Monkey) just traded his Model 3 for a Ram Rebel! I'm helping my dad pick out a truck and your videos have been enjoyable and even a little bit helpful 😉
That was literally my first thought when they revealed the car
As an owner of a 2022 Ram Rebel, I can confirm that the laramie was a great choice
Love you guys you’re awesome together! Great videos - the best car review channel! 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful Truck you can’t go wrong with Ram.
Congrats! Glad you found your all rounder.
I love the new Ram, as long as it's under warranty I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
And off warranty. Too many old rams running around to prove that. It’s a NA v8 it will be fine off warranty.
One thing they didn't mention is that ram also tops the reliability aspect in terms of trucks according to consumer report. Far surpasses the gm line and f150.
🤔
We have the same thing, but with the eTorque Hemi. The hybrid is insanely fast off the line.
I also have a 19 Silverado Z71 and it has auto 4wd as well. Arguably better auto 4wd. The Ram is way more refined, but the Silverado is more fun to drive and tows more due to the max tow package and 3.92 gears.
Nice "BTS", lookin' forward for more :-)
I just bought a nice F-150 for $6,000...it's a 1989...and it has the inline-6 300cid 4.9L... and it's a manual 5-speed... it has a cap... and I like it.
Already knew it was the 1500 from the thumbnail, awesome!
Ooooooo I knew they were getting the ram!!!! Excellent buy
2021ram1500 classic tradesman quad cab 4x4 v6 with lots of extras for 39 k I built it myself took 2 months to build great truck
Conrats boys! James PLEASE get an Ionic or a model 3 for your EV!
You have ability to buy out the lease at the end of the term. Weigh cost of milage overage verses lease buy out cost along with value of the truck via private sale. In your case hopefully the used market is still extremely exaggerated in pricing.
Shoutout to Harrison the sound guy
Live for James’s jokes and outros 🥴😂
GUYS I'M IN JAMAICAN AND I WATCH YOUR YOU TUBE, I LOVE THE WAY YOU DO EVERYTHING, IT'S SOOO REAL, WITCH I MISS SO MUCH.......👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Welcome to the RAM club guys! I’ve loved my 2021 RAM 1500 Limited Night Edition from the very moment I bought it and it never fails me for all of my business/personal needs! Enjoy the truck and I hope it does everything you need it to! Cheers!
The ioniq 5 looks mint. Hope you get that James.
My Giulia will be replaced by the EV6 if it's any good.
