- Welcome to the newest sofa episode of Extra Throttle House! Today, Thomas and James "Design" their perfect sports car using parts from their favourite modern sports cars. The term "Design" is used loosely, but Sketch Monkey comes in to save the day with a beautiful render of the final product!

Had a blast "designing" this monstrosity, thanks for the invitation guys!
Idk. To me the dimensions just aren't right
Looks good, like a modernized Brera
thanks bro
Marouane!!!!!!!
@TheSketchMonkey you do some brilliant work dude. This wasn't one of them to no fault of your own 🤙
I love where they go "steering wheel ..., The yoke " and they just start laughing 😂
not to be that guy but i think its "yoke"
@@warmschnee "not to be that guy"
* Proceeds to be that guy *
I think an egg might actually be a better steering wheel design than what Tesla came up with.
It's an abomination... on an otherwise decent ev fast saloon
Elon's trying to get us ready for the self driving future with retractable steering...
...by making the driving experience terrible!
@@warmschnee appreciate it dude XD
Okay, that car render at the end is actually pretty fucking awesome looking.
Agree, but perhaps the front wheel is too close to the windshield.
It is. Only critique is I don't think the Ioniq rear end is the answer for a sports car and kinda ruins it for me. Other than that, epic!
@@tylergentry8079 I thought that was kinda odd too. tbf idk what I would say; Probably Porsche 911 or maybe even the charger.. I like the C8 tailights a lot too..
@@tylergentry8079 yea it makes it look like an early 2000s civic
I thought the front end pretty much looked like the mk5 supra lol
I think you guys might have forgot about the Lexus LC500 gauge cluster, that one is awesome
Literally was going to say!
I said it too!!!
Right? I also thought they will choose the Lexus gauge cluster.
You are right that is the best, but I think technically it's outside the price range
Exactly my thoughts lol
I would have said the movable Lexus Gauge clusters. But the Porsche Analog/Digital blend is perfect. Cant believe Porsche got rid of it on the new ones for .... a flat Samsung display. Real shame losing that perfect blend :(
Yes I said the same thing, the rc f lexus gauge cluster would’ve been the best with the classic manual
@@Gandalf721 probably just slipped their mind
I was just about to comment this. I was practically shouting at my screen… “lexus IS/LC gauge cluster!
How they included NO LC500 PARTS on this car is a fucking crime!
@@jhonnydrop7100 Same here! Shame they didn't think about that.
The philosophy behind this really reminds me of when we made the GTI W12 650 concept. They pulled parts from all of their brands and built a 2-door hatchback with a mid-mounted twin turbo W12. That's my dream Frankenstein car. Though I may have to go with the V10 too.
@@Gandalf721 haha I still love it. Who cares that the modern GTI with 1/3 the power got around the Top Gear test track faster? I want to build one and spin out all the time.
Congrats, you've built the next gen Viper
Exactly my thoughts as well.
Counting that front is a Stelantis and the rear is 80’s …. Yeah
You two could ramble on about bricks and I'd still watch :)
Keep these coming boys!
Look what they designed. They did ramble on about a brick. 😂
They can start with Tesla!
I honestly don’t know what it is, but the spirit, love, and respect these guys gave for cars reminds me of James, Jeremy, and Hammond. Plus they have the natural humor and irreverence that the top gear trio thrived on
James is HILARIOUS, but especially at 23:30. The eye contact and delivery had me laughing so hard. You guys are gems, thank you for all the incredible content!
one hundred percent, that bit was savage.
He’s hilarious and Thomas’s sarcasm work so well
I'm watching from Ukraine, thank you guys for the stress relief, much needed.
How thoughts are with you, glad you found some relief in thus episode, what a sad day for Ukraine.
Stay safe. Sorry you guys are going through this.
Please have faith. Good defeats evil everytime.
Thank you for the thoughts, and so chuffed to get a direct comment from Thomas. Artillery fire woke us this morning, but I digress. So, I managed most of the EV6 review, but a favour to ask for the main channel - could you make your reviews a little longer, just a few more minutes, please? It is my go to escape and I'm loathing when the reviews end. Love both your channels btw.
The squashed ionic backend shooting break was honestly really sick
I think that the new ionic could have been great but it ended up full of disappointment and sadness. That being said the rear-end really works here.
It looks like an Alfa Brera...with a more "cubic" backside
Nice Idea though (I'll need time to think about my version)
Thanks again guys!
Every time I see that there is a new video from throttle house It makes my day better
ISTG
You just wanted some likes that's it.
I completely agree
Same!
I’ve been making my “franken-car” in my head for years now and currently i’m locked into a restomod 911 with the RSR fender flares and duck tail spoiler (like a singer), and a 300+hp, 12k rpm hayabusa V8 from the radical track cars. These old 911’s weigh around 2,000 lbs 😬
This is perfect
Please do a video like this on luxury cars
Second. Would be almost as entertaining.
Yes, please, that would be brilliant, no need for massive expenses in travel and filming, just a couch and your wit is all that is required. Please do it.
THIS NEEDS TO BE A SERIES
11:26 I love how Thomas takes it with such seriousness. He's being so careful and diplomatic about it! 🤓
Please keep doing extra Throttle house vids. We love hearing you guys talk on a more casual level!
Yes, yes… more of these videos, picking the best pieces of different cars. This was a blast to watch. Glad someone already said the Lexus gauge cluster too, first thing that popped into my head. Lovely stuff boys, and what a sketch! Well done SketchMonkey.
So basically a Camaro 1LE with a V10? It’s got the suspension, damping, steering, 6spd Tremec, analog gauges, eLSD, exhaust, brakes, and Recaros all for less than $80K. Not biased or anything but I totally agree 😂
Also I’d like to add knobs for climate control and a double DIN for Multimedia so it’s easy to upgrade.
That car kicks ass
You guys have completely lost your minds and I love it.
I'm getting angular Alfa Brera vibes. Great fun watching you come up with this, more of these videos please.
End product looks wicked but I think it would look better with sharper looking front end
Would’ve been awesome to get the guys at Hagerty to do a rendering of your Franken-car
Would be hilarious if they just sent back a picture of The Homer
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, guys! Glad you brought in Sketchmonkey too!
A+++
Super cool to see two of my favorite auto channels working together on such a sweet project!
Expecting it to be like when Homer designed a car. 🙂
I dig it! Sketchmonkey did a great job designing this frakencar and it was fun watching you guys come up with this monstrosity. Haha
Only thing I would change is type r seats but in blue to match exterior. Also the lexus lc500 dash.
The m4 carbon bucket seats look way nicer though
PLEASE MAKE THIS A SERIES!
Sounds like you guys just described the Shelby gt350R! Hi revving peaky engine flat plane crank, Tremec manual transmission, active exhaust that is basically straight piped, fantastic steering feel, magna ride suspension, chassis very close to as good as the Ct4v black wing. Only thing missing is the M differential, but take the cup twos off of it and put some all seasons on it and you’ll be able to slide as much as you want to! I know you guys did a short review of wine but hoping you do the full review at some point in the future!
This was a lot of fun. Thanks and I hope there's more of these.
I love the chemistry between you guys, you guys are really good friends and it translates so well into the content
Brilliant episode, i have been waiting for this one for a while and it was brilliant. Thank you so much gentlemen.
YOU 👏🏼 GUYS 👏🏼 NEED 👏🏼 A 👏🏼 PODCAST 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
The miata gauge cluster has the center tach, and is one of my favorites.
The yoke? *immediate uncontrollable laughter*
I like how Tom and James matched their shirt and pants.
Word of caution! The Sketch Monkey's channel is insanely addictive! I've been subscribed for a while now and, especially as a photographer, it's easy to get wrapped up in his videos and lose 5 or 6 hours in a single sitting.
This was a great idea guys! More of this please!
Next, best franken-track-weapon for under £100k / dollar equiv.
Then maybe an adventure truck/ SUV, maybe even Baja kinda shizzle...
I know I'm late here but I'm only just discovered Throttle house. I had to comment though as my favorite car is the front mid engined, V10, rear wheel drive Lexus LFA. And what I've always considered to be the best looking car ever is the Alfa Brera. You two basically created a combination of my two favorite cars
This was a fun video. Even if I did almost spit coffee everywhere at "the yolk."
That video gave me huge simpsons vibes when homer was designing his idea of a perfect car.
This is cool! You guys should do your own cars and compare and justify your choices. It’s be interesting to see if you agree with each other
Widebody kit & in white would look absolutely stunning 😍. Great job gents truly love your channel.
I hope I wasn't the only one yelling "POLESTAR 1!!" during the 'which front end' part...
also the Rivian yellow is really nice, I think I'd go with that color (or their blue, which is also very nice).
Oh, Polestar 1. Did not think of that one, very good idea!
In fact, you could just make it look like a Polestar 1 and I'd be happy. That thing looks great!
I had a real rough night, came home from work @10:30 pm. Your video saved me so much sorrow. Thank you❤️
Looks like a winner! Build-it-and-they-will-come!
It looks legitimately cool from that angle.
I honestly loved this. The video was very entertaining and I would be in line as one of those 10 subscribers to buy this car. Great video gentlemen! I would love to see you guys do more of these!
I love everything about this; especially the team up with Sketch Monkey to actually create an image of the finished product. Please, please, please do more of these 🙇🏻🙏🏻👏🏻
So, a German Viper. Love it!
Great idea for an episode... Please do more of these
Absolutely LOVE these videos guys. Thank you so much for premium entertainment. I know it sounds sarcastic but I really mean it.
5:48 "The clinky, clunky click"
Love this build! Continue doing these 🔥
I love this idea. So much fun. I've been going right along with you making my own choices
I would curious to know how much development time/money was spent on all the items you guys picked out to add them up and find out what "real" MSRP would be lol
I really love the design you came up with!
The outcome is actually beautiful! Even though the front end would probably be a little longer to fit that engine as a front mid. But it looks great! To make this car it could probably fit a v6 pretty easily.
That was fun. Kind of like watching Monty Python build a sports car (shooting brake). Looking forward to the Franken truck and SUV.
That sketch looked better than I anticipated
That’s actually a really cool looking car. I thought it’d be a little darker but it’s actually pretty cool
It’s honestly not very far off of looking like a car that would be incredibly compelling. This was awesome and I hope you guys do this again. Design your own off roader next??
Y'all forget exhaust style🤣. Like quad tipped, center exit, that type of thing
It looks like an Audi wagon honestly, it looks good. You’d sell a lot around $40k
My dream sports car: Polestar 1, manual transmission from the gt350, hellcat/ram trx engine. Interior pretty much the same but with the newest gen Mercedes mbux. Active diff from the e63, and ceramic brakes from taycan turbo s. I think it will be the perfect daily sports car as the removal of the hybrid system will reduce the weight by almost 500kg as the polestar has lots of carbon fiber panels, and more interior/cargo space. edit: steering out of the gt4.
Crazy build guys. Pretty crazy how few most people will agree with you.
LC500 with a infotainment that's really 2022 level = Perfect car
Totally looking forward to that lotus review one of my favorite cars as a kid
I hope this fun series continues btw
and matching color schemed outfits too. Its all one cohesive get together .
I would buy that car! Good work men.
you should do one of these for like suv, truck, hatchback, muscle car etc.
Thomas, your hair is on point.
Thats hell of a design 🔥
Oh, no, I don't like that render! The rear is weird, I pictured it a bit more muscular or something... 🤣
I enjoyed this a lot, guys! And oh my God, just to think about that V10 paired to a precise manual gearbox makes me smile... 😍
Daaaamnn, what a design. looks a bit like a hot hatch, the hood could be longer to achieve the front-mid engine architecture. but wow
This was a really interesting and fun video, had a good laugh too. As for colour, since Audi released... Audi Ara Crystal Blue.... FANTASTIC in the sunlight, sparkles so much, but in dimmer light is just full and rich... Love it!!! 👌 😎🇬🇧
Seriously fun video, would love another with different time periods and stuff.
Awesome concept guys. A little crazy, but when it's built, send it to cape town south africa.
I am definitely using the "clinky clunky clink" in conversation very soon.
Throttle house and the sketch monkey working together is not something I expected but I welcome it :)
Lexus gauge clusters are lovely
This was good, thanks guys!
Was with you up until the looks! Loved this though, reminded me of sitting around having this discussion with my buddies
The lc 500 gages are really cool too
I really enjoyed this extra. I would keep the rear ionic 5 lights but put Audi RS5 rear.
For my dream track car it would be a Widebody Lotus Exige 430 Cup, full aero/ slicks etc. with a 2.6L RPE Hayabusa V8 swap, paired with a dogbox sequential trans. Pure track bliss
I like the render! That is a nice shooting brake!
I really like this format
Do this again for all time, Or for certain model years (10 or 5 year increments etc)
Thomas And James, watch you guys all the time from LaSalle, On. This is my first comment to you. When you said what steering wheel I immediately thought Nardi, the best. BTW, back in the day I had a 1750 GTV. You know what I'm talking about Thomas. The GTV and I had some crazy times together.
I can't believe there's not more of these vids
You guys should check out Automation game. It will give you exactly what you needed to be able to design your dream car from the ground up. From mechanical engineering, to its design
For me it would just be an ND Miata with an NA 3 rotor or an ITB’d inline 6… no cats, equal length headers, more structural rigidity? And olhins coilovers
So they basically created a 2022 Alfa Romeo Brera. Great video Guys!
Anything with an Audi Sport / Lamborghini V10 is amazing. Nonetheless, these are the types of conversations I love to have. Well done Throttle House and The Sketch Monkey. I can’t wait to see what your Supercar will be like. I hope it also gets the Audi Sport / Lamborghini V10, or if you’re not doing the 2 year old car rule, the Carrera GT V10. Or, the best sounding engine ever. The 1LR-GUE V10 from the legendary LFA.
Excellent design, a funky Brera. Would also look good in the Lexus LC500 Ruby Red.
Love this, so fun!
This was fun to watch.
