As you've probably heard enough by now, you guys have filled that void in the hearts of those of us who enjoyed a previously well known comedic car review show featuring three middle aged men.

The Cayman for me (drove in other specs) sums up what a daily driver that will make you smile at any turn should be like. I can only imagine what that engine does to it. Anyway, again thank you and wishes of a wonderful 2023 from across the pond!

      @@ThrottleHouse its electric steering rack, even porsche sucks at it. hydrallic is how lotus and mclaren gives driver ability to feel how close to limit of grip car is with much more confidence, stiffer chassis and seats can help in that too with bump crash energy abosrbing rubber stuff to make it not too bumpy and vibrating over bumps. pedals also hydrallic , so they push back more you push deeper into pedal, so you can be more confident about how much brake power, and engine power (for hybrid cars whos sound and power dont correlate linearly), you have left before you dont have more power to use. lotus emira is most linear correlation in response to driver, so its most fun car per every bit of speed change it can do compared to other cars, and most people dont drive on race track or open big roads, so theres not much of apaoint of having car shows speed change is so much that you dont have much time to enjoy the hamrony between driver input and sound and power etc and the speed changes in changing gears. lighter weight car is more crash safe for people isndie and out the car, its more agile per amount of tire grip and more grippy tires last far less long and more expensive. less car size means more playroom in road. so lotus emira is car of the year... unless you count in gma t50, whoch is best of all worlds except maybe that a single seater trakc only car might beat it on track in terms of only speed, probably not in driving fun, defintly not as a every day use car.// but they sold all the cars they planed to make so far last year.

      Most reviewers u saw only drives it on highway while these dude drives it in a track
      I mean for them the 458 is still a better car than the z06 which is suprising since z06 has more power and newer but the 458 has amazing feedback that's why Thomas jokingly said that the 458 is the car of the year becuz its the best car he's ever driven this year

    • @sly9263
      @sly9263 Год назад +19

      @REV THW a lot of viewers just want to see a hype video about a car they're into so they can get a sweet taste of that confirmation bias- they don't want to hear the bad things. ignore owners as they're almost always biased. the majority of car reviewers aren't good car reviewers and fail to fully analyze the car. savage geese is probably the best overall if you want a review you can trust where they will cover things the majority of reviewers missed. throttle house is also decent, but a bit more subjective for the sake of entertainment in some areas where it's really a cut and dry matter of objectivity.

    I already guessed even before I watched you guys were going to choose the C8 Z06. Z06's major advantage over the 4RS happens to be it is street-able without beating you up in the process, something the harder dampening of the GT4RS would do to you if your road suck (which it does for a lot of US roads).
    The GT3 engine didn't fit the Cayman/Boxster chassis, AP and his team had to re-engineer the GT3 engine specifically (during the 992 911 GT3 engineering) to make it fit the Cayman/Boxster. Savagegeese did a great video and interview with AP and his team about this and they explained what they needed to do to make the engine fit. When AP and his team were designing the 992 GT3, they made sure that the GT3 engine update would make it so they can fit it in the Cayman/Boxster, even if they had to flip it 180 degrees.

      I thought it was gonna be the GT4 RS but when it came #2 I was scratching my head...then I remembered the Z06, the value it brings and how they recently brought it to benchmark the Ford GT. Being Euro based I wasn't surprised when Top Gear recently chose the GT4 RS. If only to celebrate American engineering, I too think the Z06 is the winner.

That's why no one can fault it...

      @sports2hedz542 Год назад +1

      @TRX X yeah I think it might be the better car but I don't think they picked it based on their audience. Their criteria is also that it moves the goal posts in some significant way. Which the Z06 does. The Corvette brings the USA back to the true refined supercar arena, for half the cost of a Ferrari. The GT4 RS is only 20k more though. But for the shear amount of engineering required to build the new Vette from the bottom up, rather than slotting in an existing engine to a chassis (not easy by any means...but considerably easier)...is the reason they picked it. There are other criteria than solely the car itself. The car world is better off with an American supercar in the mix and for this reason alone it should be #1.

    Thanks for an entertaining year of car reviews! You guys have stepped up your game big time. And thanks for the breakdown of potential car of the year candidates, especially the discussion and comparison between the Civic Type R, Corolla GR and the Elantra N. What you said about the original purpose of those cars -- supposed to accessible to the working man -- is so spot on. That’s the entire reason I bought my Elantra N. It embodies the affordable performance car concept that the Type R set so many years ago, but has gone away from today, now that dealers can dictate how much they feel the car should sell for. Thank you guys for the great videos! also thank you for pointing out that these performance hatchbacks were suppose to be affordable. I told myself I would get a Focus RS if it ever came to the U.S. It did with a $15k markup.... he'll no. Then Ford turns around and stops making it due to low volume. These markups are going to kill these fun cars.

    • @afterburn2600
      @afterburn2600 Год назад +2

      Indeed. I bought a used 2018 RS in early 2019 for a good bit under MSRP (especially compared to now...) but that didn't give Ford any money and thus they think there's less demand. By the time I was able to afford the RS it was already out of production - otherwise I would have shopped new. But with $15k mark up, I'd have passed immediately. The RS is very special, but not $50k+ (USD) special. It's still just a focus, admittedly with a really nice drivetrain underneath.

    A third wheel is needed on this channel. I'm willing to sacrifice myself on behalf of Throttle House. The two of you need a American presenter to represent all your American subscribers. I grew up driving and fixing cars. I've been attempting to drive since the age of 4. My parents weren't thrilled to have me in the driver's seat at 4 years old. Live and learn. All vehicles we owned were manual transmissions early years. 3 pedals, 3 presenters... seems like a perfect fit. And I do believe you need a third presenter to round off the current couple. I would give up a kidney(literally) to join you two in throttle house. Driving has always been a passion of mine. And I would LOVE to do what you two do. I don't think I'll ever be able to own any, and I do mean ANY of the vehicles you two have driven. Not even the "cheap" Hyundai Elantra N for 30,000ish dollars. I would kill, figuratively speaking, to be a presenter alongside you both. I highly doubt this comment will get seen either of you or your production staff. Let alone will it get a response, except the random people mocking me in the comments. I would love to join both of you in your daily shenanigans. If there's a vacancy on the production staff I'd be willing to do that as well. I still think you need a funny, possibly younger(I don't think by much), sensible but open-minded American co-host. Just a thought... Please??? Maybe??? Everyday is a drag when you hate what you are doing for a living, I just want to wake up knowing I'm doing what I love, driving. And getting paid would just be a bonus.

No matter what the topic of the video is, I can't wait to load up the next video. Your dynamic is enviable, inspiring, and makes for great comedy without fail. Keep it up, Thomas and James!

    I honestly can't remember how I stumbled across your channel earlier this year (the Rivian review, maybe?) but it was such a happy find, and I've had my notification bell set to 'All' since! 🔔 Going through the back catalogue has been so entertaining, and it's also evident how much work you've done to move forward with the content and your brand as a whole. Love your presentation -- funny, accessible, yet still informative.
    Wishing the entire TH team all the success in 2023! 🙌

      Same! I was a virgin this year as well. After I watched my first TH spisode I was grinning from ear to ear from the intro so I went to the comments. Someone mentioned that their favorite was the MC 20 intro. I immediately searched for it and found Thomas in various yoga poses. I had to agree, it was the greatest intro ever. I was in stitches and absolutely enthralled with the comedy and creativity. I too spent days going through their back catalog. These guys are the absolute BEST. Similarly, it is the ONLY channel I have notifications set to "All". I noticed during the GT4 RS vid my mouth had been open the entire time. That is a sign of brilliance. Thanks TH for making my life just a little better.

      @@sports2hedz542 Hello to a fellow TH fan! 👋🙂 Right, I'm gonna watch that MC20 video later. For me, another great intro bit (actually the whole video) was the Audi RS5 Competition. 😃 I also thoroughly enjoyed the review of the Factory Five Mk4 aka AC Cobra in disguise.

    As an Elantra N owner, I agree with James that I prefer the steering in it compared to other cars in the category. I've seen both statements that it is and isn't artificial from a mechanical standpoint. So I cannot deny or confirm. Just know for me it's an amazing feel and keeps me connected

      Honestly thought that they would pick it for car of the year, given all of the love they have shown for the car in their videos. I own the Elantra N as well, and I can say that for the money, there is not a better sports car out there, period. It truly is an incredible driving experience, around the track, or going for groceries. As for the looks, its definitely an acquired taste. I find that the longer I've had the car, the more I appreciate the styling. They really ride the edge of being edgey like the type R, and classy like a bimmer.
