@@janck1000 I've recently been watching Carwow, and their reviews are 'fun' much like Throttle House. But, I've been pretty excited for the new Escalade, and after watching Carwow's review, I was quite put off. The numbers they posted seem way off for a lot of the road tests. And, while I understand it's an "english" channel, having to make quips about the size of American SUV's every minute got rather old. I am sure, I was quite critical of that specific video, but as I said I have been watching nearly every review of this particular vehicle since before it released and it was odd. That made me wonder how many of their other videos I was less critical of may fall into that category. 0-60 and 1/4 mile times way higher than should be, brake performance tests done very loosely (60-0 test clearly shows him doing 65 mph before he hits the brakes, immediately followed up by criticism on poor stopping performance for example). Just made me think, maybe there's some bias at play. Which, imo, professional reviews should not include for obvious reasons.

The comparisons without fear, apparently, to other vehicles in the same class also help as well. @Traumatree 2 года назад +6

This is exactly the thing I am complaining about most electric cars. Why do they have to have 800+ hp and 800+ ft/lbs of torque, weight 2+ tons and cost an arm and a leg? There is no need for that. What I want from an ev car is 4 little 50-75 hp & 30-50 ft/lbs motors and a battery that will let me do 500+ km that can be bought at a regular price. That's what we all want.
For example, most Tesla owners never owned a car that had above 200hp and all of a sudden, they get themselves into a car that is way above their driving skills if they accidentaly floored it. High hp/torque e-car is NOT the way to go.

I've got an R1T reservation and I 'should' take delivery by the end of the year. But the lack of Carplay support is the single biggest reason I would consider cancelling it. Rivian's navigation just isn't good enough. Also, this is an off roader, but their maps don't show any of the off road trails I like to drive. If it had CarPlay, I could use Ghia GPS, which lets me download off road maps. Also, no CarPlay means I need to mount my phone up somewhere so I can see it. That also means I can't use the wireless charger. Also, this car doesn't let you play your phone's music through USB. You have to use BlueTooth, which degrades the sound quality. Of course you can use Spotify, but that's one more service you have to subscribe to.
Moving to an EV already cause a massive change that the customer has to adapt to. IMO, EVs need to minimize the changes a customer must undertake. For me, personally, the lack of CarPlay support is a big one.

With all the emergency braking, radar guided cruise control, etc features in modern vehicles, its not as dangerous as 20 yrs ago looking down to adjust radio or putting a tape or cd in the player. Its actually safer especially when Alexa can do a lot of things for you. Most people adjust vents before they get going in their vehicle at a standstill.

@@dandroid761 Some advancements, like the ones you pointed out initially, are actual advancements. The all touch giant screen is a step backwards. Right now, I don't have to look away from the road to adjust temp, put on my seat heaters, mess with the radio, I can do it all by reaching for where I know the buttons are or using steering wheel controls. And I never have to worry about glare that makes controlling my care an even bigger pain. I can do less with this car than I can with one built in 2012 that also has voice control.
