I have listened a full Lakmé recording recently and my conclusion is that the role was not composed for leggeros; by contrary it has many dramatic moments and it requires a great voice. Klara would be a dream cast in this role. Not just an amazing coloratura technique, but the colour of her voice would be so suitable for the role!! A real dramatic coloratura, with great acting skills and a wonderful voice that uses various means of expression is ideal for Delibes' music. I remember what Licia Albanese used to say about acting: no matter if it's just a concert, a singer must be into the character! Watching and listening to Klara, I understand this concept so well. For many, this is just a coloratura aria; the role is of course; far more complex from an emotional perspective...but what is great is that Klara combines her great coloratura skills and vocal virtuosity with her emotions, bringing the flavour of the character to the audience, which is unique so far. Brava!!!
