Her notes float in the air like a beautiful butterfly
I am enchanted.
Yep
1:40 - like this !
That's the idea ya
Not really
Absolute perfection, perfect pitch, perfect vocalization (you can hear clearly, and in tune, every note), the different shades, expressions, well, a long list, basically an almost non human perfection in a piece that is incredibly difficult, and the thing is she does the same during the entire performance of the opera live on stage! She is a living dream of a musician, not just a phenomenal singer, how lucky we are to have her.
Correct! And as a singer myself, I can tell you a performance like this ain't easy!
@@jodypalm303 I know, I retired as a professional, international singer 11 years ago, I sang for 25 years, the more reason for me to love this wonderful singer. And she is as perfect on stage.
Inolvidable ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Haven't heatd such a crystal clear soprano, such precise staccati since Ingeborg Hallstein! Brava! 👏👏👏
Wow. Wow. Wow. Like a sustained bell. Her line is incredible. No pressure. Her staccatos for Pete sake!! Her varied size and body on the same notes in a run??? Wow. I’ve never heard a performer be so sensitive to the smallest detail and be so whimsical about it! Breath taking.
Bow Wow Wow - Go Wild In The Country
That echo effect she does around 5:05 just blew my fucking mind. Her control. Everything. This whole performance just wowed me so much I’m crying. Omgggg
Nikki Minjarez A real bird in the voice
Did she also do the echo effect at around 3:08?
I just sob like a little girl watching her in duet Des fleurs , she is otherworldly.
Right?!!!! Unreal
@@alexbarton6003 sure did! Just not as pronounced
Last night I heard her sing this aria - and the whole wonderful opera Lakmé - in Mulhouse in a tremendous performance of the Opera Nationale du Rhin. Fantastic!
Bucket list goals!
I love the color to her voice, light and clear as a bell-she is my new favorite soprano ❤
Courtney Conner try to listen to nina burmi, she's an indian classical song singer. Her voice is also floating.
Courtney Conner ...me too!
Me too. This lady is sensational !
She flies like a graceful bird in heaven. I imagine it will be like this.....
She's indeed an excellent singer with a magnificent voice. But she is my second favorite soprano, only next to Anna NETREBKO 😊😉
Makes me glad I was a French major. In addition to miraculous singing and technique, you can understand every word.
I was never a major in the French army. I was just a sixer in the English boy scouts -- but I do like Ms Devielhe's sublime voice.
@@eddisstreet im not sure if ur comment was meant to be a play on words, but either way it made me smile
its proof that her voice can touch anyone and everyone

Sometimes better not to know what they are singing about following as shawshamk
My god, the look of joy on the maestro's and musicians' faces all around... Brava, diva!
I think it's because they know, artistically, that they're kickin' ass. This is where it all comes together.
I am relatively ignorant of the finer points of opera, but it has always seemed to me that one of the truest measure of a soprano’s greatness is the clarity of her voice throughout the range. Ms Devielihe has one of the clearest, most controlled voices that I have ever heard. She is truly wonderful!
Well she is a coloratura soprano singer and they have some of the most beautiful light and high tessituras you can find in opera, the queen of the night aria by far one of the hardest arias and it was written specifically for her voice type.
Ou va la jeune Indoue,
Filles des Parias,
Quand la lune se joue,
Dans le grand mimosas?
Elle court sur la mousse
Et ne se souvient pas
Que partout on repousse
L'enfant des parias;
Le long des lauriers roses,
Revant de douce choses, Ah!
Elle passe sans bruit
Et riant a la nuit.
Labas dans la foret plus sombre,
Quel est ce voyageur perdu?
Autour de lui
Des yeux brillent dans l'ombre,
Il marche encore au hasard, e perdu!
Les fauves rugissent de joie,
Ils vont se jeter sur leur proie,
Le jeune fille accourt
Et brave leur fureurs:
Elle a dans sa main la baguette
ou tinte la clochette des charmeurs
L'etranger la regarde,
Elle reste eblouie.
Il est plus beau que les Rajahs!
Il rougira, s'il sait qu'il doit
La vie a la fille des Parias.
Mais lui, l'endormant dans un reve,
Jusque dans le ciel il l'enleve,
En lui disant: 'ta place et la!'
C'etait Vishnu, fils de Brahma!
Depuis ce jour au fond de bois,
Le voyageur entend parfois
Le bruit leger de la baguette
Ou tinte la clochette des charmeurs!
:)
Je vais pas tenter le karaoké haha
@@fussel895 Haha why not?

She is certainly going to be a rising star in the opera community. This aria was perfect for her voice!
I only saw one part of her opera performance, she has a magnificent voice but not very good with the acting. But that was few years ago. I do hope she has improved her acting skill.
@@CandyAphrodite quite right about acting on "les contres d'Hoffman" for exemple,
but even at Garnier you can close your eyes and listen ... and then ..... :)
Quelle diction parfaite.
she is french.
@@EspaTuLaFielD You are telling a native French speaker that an obviously French singer is French? are you dumb?
Je suis TOTALEMENT en accord avec vous
I NEED to see Sabine live. She is truly amazing
Oh she is absolutely phenomenal ! I've seen her three times this season. She's tiny but her energy is as big as the opera house. A wonderful actress too !
Have you seen her yet? ❤😊
The world has quite a number of fabulous opera voices these days, but none is more magical and thrilling than Sabine’s. I’ve been following her for a number of years now, and am in awe of her prodigious talent. We are so fortunate to have her among us. It’s a wonderful time for music.
That perfection is not a product of a child prodigy but the result of years of practice perfecting her craft and how thankful we are for it.
her high notes are so delicate and graceful, it’s like they float in the air! i love her voice, she’s the best soprano i’ve heard ❤️
She's probably the best French singer right now and she holds her own. For me it's difficult to say who is the best I've ever heard because so many sing it well in their own way. Callas and Sutherland are the gold standards for me.
Agree and at the same time she is poetically so powerful.
When a singer being able to make the orchestra happy and gets them into the music, he/she is a brilliant singer.
they all look like they are having a great time. amazing and very inspiring to see that.
I love her smile in the end - she knows she's done a marvelous job!
Her’s is perhaps the finest soprano voice I have ever heard.
it certainly is one of the prettiest
@@katherinewilson1853 yes one of the prettiest; I said finest because I am not capable of making a technical evaluation of it.
listen to Prof: Ingeborg Hallstein, she's one of the best coloratura sopranos
I worked with a guy whose wife got a full scholarship@ ASU in Arizona studying as a coloratura. Got to hear her in a recital! She had the light weight lilting properties in her voice!
@@bradleybunk6463 No argument here, I am definitely her fan. :) I am not a musician, so do not have the technical capacity either.
Every 10 years or so, a new outstanding coloratura is born. This is her time to shine!
Exactly what I was thinking!
Welch klare Stimme, Dynamik und Vielfalt! Wunderschön! Einfach nur beeindruckend!
This is a superb rendition by a lyric coloratura of great technical skill and sensitivity to the meaning of the lyrics. Her voice is beautiful and she uses it in the service of the character not just to show off. I would love to see her onstage in this role as well as other lyric coloratura roles [Olympia; the French Manon; Gilda; Ophelia]. It is wonderful to hear a singer with such technical mastery.
Hope to see her in Paris this October
I stumbled across this knowing little to nothing about opera music and not really caring for it. I listen all the way thru and it brought me to tears- her voice is so beautiful! Wow!
Isn’t it funny, how people typically say they’re not a fan of opera, or even classical music, but they’re often responding to so many others saying the same thing….but none have given it a chance, they’ve not heard much at all, or even anything! It’s a universal prejudice which is so sad, because they’re depriving themselves of a whole _world_ of inexplicable beauty, of ordinary human beings doing extraordinary things! I’m a classically trained singer and flutist, so believe me, I’ve heard a lot of people say this! I’m really interested in what motivated you to click on this, and I hope you’ll keep clicking!
You learned SOMETHING.
.good for you.....
@@voraciousreader3341depends on the country in Italy it's more universal they sing opera at football and when they planned independence. In other countries it's designed to be elitist. And you need some sustained effort to break thru the campness of opera. Musical theatre is more immediate. Sometimes efforts are made to broaden appel via schools if only to increase funding.not all opera snobs approve
Oh my God!!!!!!!. This soprano is absolutely incredible!!!!!! Queen Sabine Devieilhe!!!!!
Joli commentaire.
Elles sont des grandes ....
Astounding. I was laughing out loud in disbelief at how unbelievably good this is.
You need to hear Natalie Dussay sing the bell song it eclipses even Sabine's in subtle ways...not a blow out mind you.
The way she just giggles at the end like it was nothing...
Spectacular performance
Magnifique !
I keep re-watching and re-watching this. Just, incredible.
she's the bees roller skates
absolutely mesmerized, transported, Sabine Devieilhe is really amazing ! Lakmé must be written for her.
Stunning. Don't know much about singing or opera but the vocal control here astonished me. Never heard anything like it.
Look at the smile on the musicians towards the end! They know they've created something amazing!
1:40-1:54 is the exact sound I expect to hear when opening the doors to heaven.
heh
sorry to tell you but heaven doesnt exist lol
Incroyable
I love the smile of pride the orchestra, the conductor and the soprano have the end. They know it was very well done. Such a voice.
You are so right 🙂 I noticed the same thing. So nice to see all of them happy !
This is the best rendition of this aria I have heard to date. Astounding!
Nobody can beat Luciana serra
@@luceafarul579, youg Dessay, by far.
robert111k Natalie Dessay? You are kidding right? She screeches ALL her tops. The only thing she’s good at is tempo, but Luciana Serra is also perfect in that as well.
@@luceafarul579 You must be a frustrated soprano. Never made it yourself, huh?

Not since Mady Mesple’ have I heard anything so incredibly perfect. This woman should play this role for everyone to see and hear. She is absolutely wonderful! 👍
i adore her timbre. it's relatively bright, but i have preference for that kind of sound anyway. she sounds as clear as a bell!
What a wonderful recording, orchestral perfection, conductor, and the sublime Ms Sabine Devieilhe. Kudos to everyone involved in the production and how I envy anyone who got to sit in on these recording sessions.
Superbe !
This recording is such a delight. A perfect and utterly skilled voice for this aria.
It is unreal.
She is literally screaming at the top of her lungs, tone perfect and on the beat.
Absolutely mesmerising.
5:13 The whole aria is brilliant. But her trill and the final high E just make me melt every time I hear it.
She is superbe, the perfect soprano voice in my opinion, I love her. Inspiradora.
I watched this video so many times, and today after a day of horror in Gaza/Israel, Ucrania and other countries (they are not the only), I see these professionals, artists, specially performing arts, like Sabine, conductor and every maestro playing, and I think these kind of people may me feel less disapointed about human behave. 2 years ago, this video showed me how awesome music can be... I already knew other kinds of heavenly music, but this was new... and I decided I'd sing opera music. It wasn't this simple... theres so much more to it than you see in the result! Because their job is to make it sound as effortless and soft and heavenly as it can be... it's a workout! I had back pain, my diaphragm hurt, and it was all so worth it! I had to stop taking lessons, for other reasons... but I know now how much it helped me with posture, proper breathing, proper placing of my voice, in any kind of singing really... I recommend it so much! Taking singing lessons made me realize how my voice was not perfect but also taught me how to improve it, gave me the courage to sing (I was very shy and not confident with my voice before) and made me appreciate even more classical music and professional opera singing! 🥰❤🤩
I´ve been listening to this as loop along with the one with crebassa for the last days.
I can´t take off my head Sabine´s voice. My car speakers will never be the same since I listen to her.
It´s just incredible.
Absolutely wonderful I have just returned from seeing her perform at the Teatro Real in Madrid and it was worth travelling across Europe to hear her sing in Lakme, and also the excellent Stephane Degout was singing. Sabine really is stunning, please let’s hear more of you in London 👏👏👏
I am so envious of you, I tried to make it to Madrid from the states. I am hoping to make to Paris to hear her later this summer

OMG. I'm actually speechless...for a few seconds it was almost transcendental state of mind...everything is indescribable beyond perfection...
I can’t get enough of this recording. Absolutely impeccable ❤️
Her sound is so effortless, yet precise!
Raw, unadulterated, and flawless. Devielhe smacks of pure talent and an impressive technique, topped only by her "floating" vocal style and dramatic range even for a coloratura. She's brilliant.
If ever they remake Sleeping Beauty in a live action version, Sabine would make a great Aurora.
If Disney still cared about the art of film, she would make the Aurora of our dreams. However, we all know Disney will just auto-tune over a cg motion captured mess.
DormantRabbits they’d probably use a pop singer
In her mid-thirties, Sabine is a bit past the age for Aurora, who is a teenager in the story, yes? I agree, her voice would be wonderful for the role.
@@elizabethmeikle3479 lol how would that be worse?
I thought her voice sounded like Princess Aurora too!

Quite superb this used to be Natalie Dessay's territory but now it is Sabine 's. Wonderful technique really looking forward to seeing her when she comes to sing at Covent Garden in the summer of 2019 in La Fille du Regiment another colleagues showpiece I can't wait !
I know! Natalie's has a slightly darker colouring but this is absolutely transparent that reminds me of Lucia Popp. Incredible.
I thought of the same two singers, Natalie Dessays is not perfectly well, I heard, and Sabine Devieilhe is just starting. I hope both to continue singing as
they can for many years more.
She’s great. I still believe Dessay completely embodies this role. The ease and the coloratura is superb
Sabine is more reminiscent of Mady Mesple who is a true legend as Lakme.
She’s much better than Dessay
Bravo!
Really lovely, great clear diction. Her voice seems ideal for this wonderful piece of music. I wish Delibes had

Well, here i am again for my weekly dose of Sabine's angelic voice and her reaction at the end. Such Beauty and Pure Joy!
Beautiful tone, gorgeous vibrato, and a lovely, light sweetness characterize her voice. I'm used to Sutherland (my favorite) singing this, but her voice was completely different. Sabine is one I'll be watching.
I am still picking up the pieces of my jaw from the floor. Sabine Devieilhe has a voice from heaven!
I'm usually more of a mezzo fan but her voice is so clear and pure 💗
In her voice, God reveals the divine spirit of an incredible woman
Everyone is smiling at the end because after hours of rehearsals they finally perfected it. Amazing
I recently "discovered" Natalie Dessay and Kathleen Battle...I am new to these searches for these incredible singers...Sabine Devieilhe has just rocked my world...
Absolutely stunning. I thought no one could sing this as well as Joan Sutherland. I was just proved wrong. What I wouldn't give to see her perform Lakme live.
What an incredible lady, she's a wonder of nature...
I have no words to describe what I just heard...no words...only a feeling of...a miracle.
Ah I love her voice.. light but strong when it needs to be.. perfect soprano to me. Makes you feel like she's some young girl in a fairy tale singing in the forest.
Niezmiennie zachwyca mnie to wykonanie. Wspaniała, utalentowana Sabine. Duet z Marianne również cudowny.
that passage from 01:40 - 01:52 was sublime!
I rewatched it like 6 times 😵
I am not an Opera connoisseur but she has an amazing voice , it’s refreshing.
This is not a public performance. It is a recording session for an album which is the reason why they are not 'acting' out the lyrics and also why they are reading from the music book.
And what do you mean to tell us by this?
