That's incredible. Though she is gone, I think the fact that she could inspire you to become and opera singer shows that she will live on through people like you.

Much like any other orchestra part, or choir, of course. I have watched other versions by now, all just as good. Still don't know the language, but singing needs no language, as does falling in love with Patricia (love, love, love). Rest in peace Patricia Janekova.
Such a bright light in this world so brutally and untimely extinguished. Her voice, beauty and elegance brought me, and many others, such joy! You will be missed Patricia.💔🌹
Just found this now and was entranced by this beautiful girl's beautiful performance, and so profoundly shocked to learn in the comments that she passed away, so tragically young, just 2 weeks ago. Rest In Peace. ❤️
idk why people disliked this... even if you don't like opera, you have to admit the talent and control that comes with opera. there is so much practice that goes into this.. like bro she's good
I was on instagram the other day and there was a clip of a lady singing this which transitioned to an AC/DC song. Someone in the comments had called the opera "melodious screaming" which I found rude considering the lady had sang the part very well.
The first thing that came to mind for me was the scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Sally Ann-Howes playing the music box doll while her creator Benny Hill (the toy maker) looks on with pride. No it's not classical or operatic but she dose the song beautifully while spinning around. Not once but twice, the second while Dick Van Dyke is wooing her.And...its on RUclips.
I used to watch this video in 2016 before school almost every morning. It was so calming and so relaxing, it was really helpful for someone like me who was dealing with anxiety. I wish Patricia could've known that. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to tell her that she really helped me in my worst moments. Thank You so much Patricia!!! Rest in Peace
I love this. I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve watched it. The Doll Song is considered to be one of the most difficult arias ever written for a soprano. And yet she makes it look so easy, and with such power. And only 17 years old when she performed it. Just amazing.
Well, summarily rating something as being a difficult aria is a bit of a moot point unless you point out difficult to whom, as different singers will have different register limitations as well as different singing techniques. While in some modern music, especially guitar pieces, some are written with the express intent to showcase the talent of the composer and lead guitarist to be as difficult as possible to play, I cannot think of an instance where an operatic piece was intentionally written to be as difficult to sing as possible. There are certainly many cases where composers had specific contemporary singers in mind (see for example Opera Seria prima donnas and composers), but really the difficulty of a piece isn't really inherent to the piece but to the match to a singer. Also, to judge properly, how to judge when a piece has been sung properly or not? The Bel Canto par excellence of Amelita Galli-Gurci from a purely technical standpoint far exceeds that of Maria Callas, but lacks the drama and emotion that "Una Grande Vocaca" (as Tullio Serafin called MC) could unquestionably far more impressively convey -- unless you prefer the former, you see... So, really it isn't a question of what piece is the hardest for all but for one specific singer. MC didn't like to sing Mozart, complaining it strained her voice too much. Bellini, Rossini, was much more gentle and easy, while some more rigid singers with less flourish in Bel Canto might find them much harder than Ms. Kalogeropolou. She had no trouble with many very difficult arias. I couldn't tell which ones were hard for her any given year (and this changed, with the damage to her throat 1957-58 and later), so I wouldn't know for her, nor any given singer unless they told me. Still, to perfectly match instruments in a majority of passages, the Bell Song (Lakme) ought to be quite challenging IMHO.
Another really good performance of this song is by Sumi Jo. She sounds like an actual bird!!! I don't know how these women can do that with their voice. Incredible
I think he looked at her because he needed it for timing, everyone is looking at her every now and then, look at the lady on the right It was cute anyway
She looks like a real damn doll, I love her dress. The skit is so funny. And her singing sounds amazing. Opera isnt boring, classical music isnt boring. Right now its made by the same modern people that use the same iphones, emojis, and are on facebook. They have a great sense of humor, and are also some of the most dedicated people you will ever find.
True. Opera also has a plot, so it's not just random singing. It's telling a story in a fun way with music and sweet pure singing. The funny thing is people would watch musicals and Disney movies with singing (which literally learned this from opera) but they wouldn't watch opera.
Opera is a hard one. Most of it is incredible, some however are just noise for noises sake. Yes, she doesn't hit a top D, but 90% of the world cant. What we have here is a very beautiful and trained voice. I've heard top sopranos and their voices sound thin, or watery, give me an octave lower and quality delivery any day.
There's something about having no mics and still filling the room that's so satisfying. Edit, i have watched this performance so many times. I can't believe she's gone, her music will carry on
most opera singers have hidden mics somewhere. With this performance, I'm not sure, but if she didn't have one and still sang so clean, it would be even more impressive!
I think there's a kernel of truth there. The dress has a French noble or royal residing in the countryside feel. Southern Europe in general is flamboyant compared to Northern Europe.
@@destroysilence maybe you mean a french kernel rather than a noble one. whatever, pj sings it brilliantly; she should sing at the 'last night of the proms' at the royal albert hall; she would be a sensation with all the young men, & women, in the audience. come on, pj, it's time you took the steps to the top of the ladder, not just half way.
She’s simply in character :) the main point about Olympia is that she seems „lifeless” as it gets revealed (in the original text at the end but the opera piece of course gives it away quicker) that she is no woman but merely a wooden animatronic.
Despite not being an opera enthusiast, I’ve seen this video from time to time and Patricia’s performance never ceases to amaze me. Just learned that she passed and I’m very sad this talented lady is no longer here with us. I express my condolences to her family and friends.

And then, I found out in the comments that this beautiful talented soul has died at the age of 25 😥 Although I truly believe our souls never die, and she's still out there, this still makes me very sad. Still, her talent keeps on shining and inspiring other people, so thank you Patricia for sharing your gift while you were here with us ❤
She has such clear diction :) As a native French speaker - it is sometimes so hard to hear what the singer is singing in French opera but she is so clear m. It is lovely
I love how she returned to the scenario just to look at the orchestra, like “Hey, don't forget them! They did a good job, too.” What a magnificent singer!
i'd like to emphasis that this song while may not be very belt-heavy ( which for some odd reason is what people think nowadays as the hardest thing to sing ) is still a very difficult song the amount that she jumped up and down the notes, stay in tune, with all the nuances in dynamic, in very fast succession WHILE still maintain a visual performance, is far, FAR harder than simply just belt as high as you can for as long as possible ( not saying belting is easy, but compared to having to sing a triplet with 5 step interval in each note, i'd take belting any day )
I must have watched this a hundred times and I'll watch it a hundred times more I'm sure. What a talent she was. So devastated that she's no longer with us. So many talents go wasted because of bad habits but Patricia was not like that, she was the most unfortunate person to ever exist with such a talent. Devastated!
I fought back the tears watching this again, now that she has gone. I've never been a fanboy of anyone, but I'm not ashamed to admit I was a fanboy of Patricia Janeckova. How can this happen to such a beautiful person? The world has been robbed of her talent. Her family and friends have been robbed of her love. Her personality comes through in this performance, so vibrant, cheeky, beautiful and talented. So sad.
It's been three and a half months and I still can't get over her death. I keep watching her videos and telling myself this is a cruel joke, that it's simply not possible for her to be gone. God help her family and her husband.
The singer can have so much fun with this song, more so if it's actually done as part of the opera. Darn, now I have the chorus part for that song in my head...
@@chrisschack9716 I always told my students, music is a toy, that's why we say we "play" music, not "work" music. Don't forget to have fun. This is a perfect example of what I mean.

I think it's because they think the bit was dumb.

@@ameliafrancks2198 lol, the opera is about Olympia, who is a doll. She is not a woman, and thats why she sings looking like that. She is acting.
Feminazi Rein Francks, oooh...they're even white.

17? 🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️ that is outstanding.
@Trey Stephens It's alright, not everybody is talented the same. I'm sure you can do something that is also hard for other people ❤.
@Trey Stephens don't worry, she's doing the hard work while we sit back and enjoy!
She seems a mezzo a light lyrical mezzo or a spinto
WHY IS SHE SO PITCH PERFECT?! LIKE THER ARE NO MISTAKES SHE SOUNDS LIKE A FLUTE

Another really good performance of this song is by Sumi Jo. She sounds like an actual bird!!! I don't know how these women can do that with their voice. Incredible

with Patricia and her sweet voice, no Opera is boring, 100% guaranteed!
You're right, but I have to say I hate classical music because of my father xd
@norman smithers Her age matters not. To have such an amazing voice is a gift.
There's something about having no mics and still filling the room that's so satisfying. Edit, i have watched this performance so many times. I can't believe she's gone, her music will carry on
most opera singers have hidden mics somewhere. With this performance, I'm not sure, but if she didn't have one and still sang so clean, it would be even more impressive!
aren't there microphones at 4:59
@MsSunhappy I think they're for the recording rather than to actually amplify the sound

@@destroysilence maybe you mean a french kernel rather than a noble one.
whatever, pj sings it brilliantly; she should

come on, pj, it's time you took the steps to the top of the ladder, not just half way.
That’s true I can see that
why is it that no one seems to appreciate the doll-like introduction and performance? that was an amazing bonus !!
It is really talented even I don't know what exactly she sings
She’s simply in character :) the main point about Olympia is that she seems „lifeless” as it gets revealed (in the original text at the end but the opera piece of course gives it away quicker) that she is no woman but merely a wooden animatronic.
Because it was not amazing to everybody. I was overwhelmed by the amazing vocal performance.
I think that's how the peice is portrayed, It seems to be called the doll song

i'd like to emphasis that this song while may not be very belt-heavy ( which for some odd reason is what people think nowadays as the hardest thing to sing ) is still a very difficult song
the amount that she jumped up and down the notes, stay in tune, with all the nuances in dynamic, in very fast succession WHILE still maintain a visual performance, is far, FAR harder than simply just belt as high as you can for as long as possible ( not saying belting is easy, but compared to having to sing a triplet with 5 step interval in each note, i'd take belting any day )

@@ping411 I'm pretty sure its just youtube balancing the likes and dislikes cuz there is NO WAY that certain many people will dislike in every single video you find. Since if a video is popular and has many likes, you also find the same amount of dislikes, more or less.

And all this time I had been looking forward to her surging career and her establishment as one of the all-time greats of opera. Every time I see her now I weep again. I can only find consolation in what she left us and I hope she is now an angel singing with the other opera singers who have attained angelic grace, singing with the angels who have always been in Heaven.
Já jsem Patricii náhodou objevil teprve před 8 dny, opera mě nikdy nezajímala, poslouchal jsem převážně rock a metal. Díky ní jsem si uvědomil, že jsem žil v hudební bublině...
I just found out about her 5 minutes ago from an 80 year old man grieving for his wife. I cannot wait to do a deep dive into her short but consequential life.
If anyone ever tells you they don't like opera, tell them to watch or listen to anything Patricia performs. Flawless, exquisitely executed joy of the genre. Unmatched, fresh, and breathing new life into Opera
is Patricia!!!!!!!!,which Pauline???
@@felicidamia1232 i don't know why I have a mental block, always thinking of her as Paulina! So sorry Patricia
@@felicidamia1232 thanks for correcting me

The birds in the bower
The birds in the bower
And in the skies the day star
Everything speaks to the young lady
Everything speaks of love to the young lady
Ah! Everything speaks of love
Ah! This is the comely song
The song of Olympia, of Olympia!
Ah! ah! ah! ah! ah! ah! ah!
All that sings and resounds
And sighs in turn
Moves her heart that tingles
Moves her heart that tingles with love

@WILFREDO GARCIA Even french people don't understand the lyrics 😉
I still don’t get why people give videos like these a dislike they probably have nothing to do
Bots also dislike videos to keep a balance, for some reason
tjrs un très grand plaisir de revoir notre Patricia dans toute sa splendeur ... elle nous manque bcp
Как горько осознавать, что этого чуда больше нет с нами.Слёзы сами катятся по щекам…🙏❤

Since a few year, so many people and also young people, die for surprising reasons, in western countries especially. I cannot stop my mind to be awake ! Rip.
When I sing, all of my cats leave the room... except for the deaf one...

I red first: "except the dead one". Sorry, my mistake. A little dyfs... dysfl... OK, I´m illitterate.

Relatable xD I love this comment
I'm not a fan of opera at all, but her voice is simply charming!
First i see stand up opera singer with a little drama .
@@mariarpena2534 Opera is most commonly performed while standing up...
It is well known that female voices mature at 30, even more so operatic ones. She was taken from us only at 25; we will never know the maximum potential she could have reached, even so, at only 17 she had already reached a superlative level, in this art so beautiful and sophisticated.
