I love Natalia's Giselle. Her mannerisms and all the details and everything are spot on. This was the most brilliant mad scene I've ever scene. Also props to Acosta, such great acting aswell
basically what happens is a prince disguises himself as a peasant and giselle falls in love with him and they get engaged. this other guy is really mad because he's been in love with giselle for years. so, he finds out that this other guy is actually a prince and is engaged to a duchess. he calls the royal party (which starts the scene that you see in the video) and giselle puts the pieces together that the guy she's in love with lied to her and is engaged to the duchess. in some productions, she kills herself, but in most she has a heart condition that makes her unable to do strenuous activities for too long, so she essentially dies of a broken heart. the entire second act is her as a ghost saving her prince from the vengeful spirits of other women who have died of a broken heart. absolutely gorgeous ballet, one of my favorites for sure also, the whole scene that is in this video is basically her remembering all the times that her and the princes spent together, slowly driving her crazy. it's so heart-wrenching spending an hour watching this sweet, sheltered girl fall in love and then have everything torn away from her

WOW! A consummate actress as well as an extraordinarily gifted ballerina. I’ve never seen a ballet dancer who was able to convey such deep emotion by doing hardly any actual ballet dancing at all. Heart-wrenching.
Peter Wright's production is tremendous. The story and dance flow together and it all makes sense. The dancing is of the highest level, but also the mime and acting - especially Giselle's mother. Acosta's Albrecht also shows, I think, genuine love for Giselle and real contrition in Act 2 - although we can never really forgive him to the extent Giselle does. We finally also have a Hilarion who evokes pity and sympathy and is a well-developed character. The pas de six was beautifully danced especially by Choe and Zuchetti (balon, épaulement, good fifth on take off and landing, plus charm - both of them!). I have mixed feelings about Myrtha, but she got better as Act 2 progressed. Osipova and Acosta are just perfection incarnate: I think one would rarely see such a spellbinding partnership in Giselle. I'm very glad youtube served me this beautifully portrayed story without words. Fantastic acting. I don't even need to know the background, you get everything you need to know from the performances: Giselle was in love with the main guy, who appears to be a nobleman in disguise, who is reunited with his love interest, also of higher class, which seems to break Giselle, who starts seeing things and keeps running back to her mother figure for comfort and continually trying desperately to get the man to love her before finally dying of the emotional shock of the ordeal, whereupon the man blames another man, presumably for playing some role in the deception, but is quickly turned away. He regrets what happened and tried to revive her. What a moving tableau.
When Premier Danseur François Alu was asked which prince or male character of the repertoire he would like to be in life, he said Solor and Spartacus are his favorites. He said Albrecht is an asshole. Everytime I see Giselle mad scene, I think the same. And Natalia Osipova here is just perfect.

Natalia is absolutely electrifying! Act 1 is really hard to pull off. In fact, I just saw Giselle at another world-famous company and Act 1 was totally dull. How fabulous to see how committed everyone is to expressing this tragedy and what a treat to see so many future principals weeping in the crowd: Marcelo, Frankie, Yasmin..
Excellent, but I'm only sorry that it didn't start 2 minutes earlier. We should have seen more in the part when Giselle is still happy and sicure, before she got the reality hit her.
That little curtsey at 4:15 is *heartbreaking* 💔 Poor, innocent Giselle! 😭 Frankly, I think she should have let the Wilis kill Albrecht -- deceitful, rotten, selfish bastard! 😡
I think it works best having Albrecht have to live with the consequences of his actions. It would be easy for someone to kill him or for him to commit suicide. But he gets the harder road in this story, which we see in Act 2 when he is confronted by the Wilis. I've heard an argument that Act 2 is more like Albrecht having a guilt-induced nightmare.
Уважаемая Наташа , берегите себя , при такой эмоциональной самоотдаче и достоверности актерской , душевной , духовной и сердечной работе над образом !.... Браво ! Силы Вам и здоровья , спасибо огромное .

Did you guys see how swiftly her mom took out her hair pins so that she looks haggard and crazy? THATS AMAZING! subtle things i didn't notice the first time
@@babidavi6910basically, giselle falls in love with this nobleman named Albrecht. However, Albrecht was already engaged to someone else and didn't tell her. The local gamekeeper, Hilarion, was in love with her, but she never reciprocated. When Hilarion discovered Albrecht was actually engaged, he reveals it to her (this is shown at the beginning of this video, the man blowing the horn is Hilarion, he blows the horn to summon all of the nobles and expose that Albrecht is engaged). Giselle, who already has a frail heart due to a health condition, goes mad because of the distress and heartbreak of Albrecht's betrayal, and dies because of her weak heart. (Some variations of this play have her commit suicide by stabbing herself with the knife on the floor). The end of the video is everyone mourning Giselle's death.

Нет слов, просто плачу, какой артистизм, как достоверно...
The music always gave me chills and the performance is amazing!!
Impossible to watch without tearing up! Truly amazing performance!
И все истории ведут к тому, что в любой ситуации только наши мамы останутся с нами.
Natalia Osipova is a great tragic actress. I am full of admiration for her.
She can play comedy as well, she is very lively and energetic
Makes me cry every single time! Natasha you are special
When u scroll through the comments hut dont know anything about ballet 😔
Bro SAME
But*
It's nice to know I'm not the only one
All I know is the dancers like leggings
😔
she made me cry :(((( that was painfull to watch..what an amazing performer she is !! Wow :.(
She is so intense and dramatic, it is amazing! Made me cry... ❤
this was superb! somehow even if its ballet their reactions are still somehow grounded in reality. giselle is amazing
This is the first time i watched ballet performance and i cried at the end, this is beautiful.
Wow,,,,that made me hella emotional. She REALLY played this role huh,
She is such a brilliant actress, conveying all these emotions without saying a word.
Can we all just take a moment is silence for knowing how great of a dancer Natalia is 😊
Потрясающая драматическая актриса, красавица! Плюс феноменальная техника! Чудо из чудес!
Their acting is so good 😭😭
Yes! 😭😭
Excellent, but I'm only sorry that it didn't start 2 minutes earlier. We should have seen more in the part when Giselle is still happy and sicure, before she got the reality hit her.
That little curtsey at 4:15 is *heartbreaking* 💔
Poor, innocent Giselle! 😭
Frankly, I think she should have let the Wilis kill Albrecht -- deceitful, rotten, selfish bastard!
Okay I'm the only here after Angel's last mission?
Hi, i'm here HAHAHAHA
Me too lol
Me too
Aye!
Ahahah, me to😂
Stunning! This woman should receive the title of Prima ballerina absoluta!
Me: Nobody can make me cry from ballet
Natalia Osipova in Giselle: I don't think so
Natalia Osipova is the most beautiful Giselle in the world. I can feel the pain and despair of Giselle through her. The pain of losing her beloved to another woman…
This is masterfully directed, and obviously a brilliant director needs the most renowned actors on his crew. This is simply breathtaking! Olé!
almost brought me to tears wow absolutely beautiful.
I felt the emotion! It was brilliant! This was so well preformed!
Did you guys see how swiftly her mom took out her hair pins so that she looks haggard and crazy? THATS AMAZING! subtle things i didn't notice the first time
Yo, I cried. Simply marvelous performance.
As someone who has recently been through situation like this (I mean the betrayal), I could feel every move, every emotional change in her.
What story is this? I wish I could follow along, but I'm honestly so lost.
I have no words! Brilliant performance! Such a terrific job!
I love the tone of the costumes.
Так сыграть - дорогого стоит. Наталья- браво
I'm here after a korean drama that actually play this. I'm absolutely speechless. If someone is interested in the korean drama, it calls: Angel's last mission on Netflix
Наташа- гениальная драматическая актриса! Успехов!
Que apresentação incrível! De arrepiar
Damn... Giselle gurl u good? (Wonderfully danced by Natalia)
The character Giselle on her own almost seems kind of mentally unstable lol
I absolutely love how well this piece was acted and danced
Yes she went mad out of heartbreak because her supposed lover betrayed her
@@benlego8273 ...and then she died. Because of a cheating bastard and an incel
Everyone in ballet and opera is mentally unstable
albrecht was a noble disguised as a peasant for the first bit, she fell in love with him and he led her on until this point where he cheats with nobles. giselle went mad, and according to folk belief the brokenhearted can become wild spirits which is what happens. her madness kills her and you can see him regret what he did, only for her mother figure berthe to shove him away from her body. wonderful work
Osipova’s face looks so vulnerable…just like a young girl.
Giselle is a wild child, and Natalia Osipova brings that out in such a visceral way.
Wow I dont think I've seen better acting in an ballet before. This is amazing!!
Oh that was wonderfully performed and heartbreaking
While I may never be able to dance, I can live vicariously threw our shared name. She's a beautiful woman and an even more beautiful dancer. I'm honored to share her name.
stunning performance.
This was amazing. Literally brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful and so so heart wrenching
Her acting is sooo incredible
Oh my God, this is beyond beautiful, thank you for uploading it.
Natalia Osipova es una gran bailarina y una excelente actriz: bien puede incursionar en el cine con todo éxito
Acosta's performance in this production is brilliant as well.

this has got to be the most beautiful representation of Giselle that I had ever seen! I love Natalia!
Possibly the best Mad Scene I have ever seen.
My favorite Giselle mad scene. Osipova is incredible, her acting was so so good. ❤🩰🔥
A truly heartbreaking scene if there ever was one.
