C'est la perfection absolue ! je ne comprends pas bien comment 54 personnes peuvent ne pas aimer cette interprétation. En plus d'être une artiste d'un talent exceptionnel Nathalie Desay se montre aussi une personne d'un charisme extraordinaire, à la fois d'une classe inégalable et d'une modestie délicieuse (regardez son sourire autour de 5:31). Comme je comprends la fascination du public, tellement bien captée par la camera, jusqu'au sublimissime contre ut final !

This is such extraordinary, almost unearthy singing. That top E at the end is incredible. Who on earth can start such a statospheric note on a pianisimo and then crescendo into it? She doesn't even break a sweat, all that moves is her jaw. Unbelievable. I just pray I get to hear her live before she retires.
This is the best opera aria I've heard in my life. I love the way SHE is singing. Thrilling perfection.

This is really my favourite version of air des clochettes, flawless. Ive heard other major opera singers perform but Natalie is made for this, as a french singer her voice with her accent fits flawlessly. If you have a problem with this version come and deal with me.

Lakmé is one of the heaviest coloratur arias which were written. Natalie Dessay, one of the best coloratur sopranos, as I find, sings this aria really unmatched! Wonderful high piano tones, excellent coloraturs and decorations. Really!!! Many thanks for this nice video!
Natalie Dessay is one of the only women who make me want to sing after I listen to them. There are two others, who are acquaintances of mine. Viva Natalie!

in my OPINION, understand, opinion, Dessay is one of, if not THE best coloratura. Her technique is flawless. Unlike many sopranos, she doesn't squeek on top, especially in her role song, the Doll Aria. She is simply a gift to music.

The best performance of this difficult aria EVER! Including Pons, Sutherland, Gruberova, Jo and all the greats - this was the most effortless, musical, and dramatically effective version I've heard through the years! It, for once, didn't seem like a technical display - but a meaningful expression. No, the highest notes are not a large as some; but check the score - this is what Delibes was after, I think. Dessay is a true artist! BRAVA!
It was a famous french popular TV show which played every sunday with different singers : pop, classic, rock, variety... We miss this kind of tv show which could open ears of people who didn't know every style of music... so bad.

Nobody even noticed that she ends in F rather than E because she cleverly asks the orchestra to come in with the next part. Staying on key is one of the hardest things about this aria, and she eliminated that factor. Clever woman. This is why she is famous, and why I think anyone else. They aren't perfect, but they hide their flaws. Like magicians! Opera singers are magicians.

That was ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. Honestly, it was sheer genious. I really enjoy a lot of her work, but Im not her biggest fan. That being said, there is NOTHING I could take away from this performance. Brava.

I don't know why your comment got thumbed down but the concept is totally true. Unless you're a pop singer or trying to sing cressendo, there's no way a lot of air must be resorted to.

Fabulous! This is a wonderful memento of Dessay during her prime. After her recent vocal crises, her singing has become really strained, which you can see in her neck, chest and jaw, much like a late Callas. Here, she is flawless and completely free.
the best singers are the ones who can sing amazing arias without denoting any effort or looking tired or complicated. dessay has beautiful voice, magnifique tecnique and great interpretation, she is just close to perfection, she knows how to make music!

With one of the most amazing vocal abilities and techniques known to the world of opera and theatre...So really, does it matter how she looks? Inbred? That's just entirely false...maybe you don't truly understand what that means, but her parents weren't related...Clearly, you must be jealous of the fact that she can sing some of the hardest arias with little to no effort while you can't even manage to execute the easiest of pieces.
No one comes even CLOSE to Natalie on this aria. Simply exquisite!

Ich habe viele Koloratursoprane mit dieser Arie gehört. Aber keine erreicht hier die Präzision und Perfektion, wie Natalie Dessay. Super gesungen! Das piano in der Höhe und die Koloraturen sind einfach grandios. Dazu noch die echten Emotionen des Inhaltes der Arie. Beispielhaft für jeden lyrischen Koloratursopran.

Creo que hoy la Dessay y la Damrau son las mejores para este papel, sus voces son hermosisimas, su timbre, unicas, el color bellisimo, han superado de lejos a las antiguas, quizas tambien por las grabaciones perfectas de este tiempo, cosa que en el pasado no se pudo conseguir.
Don't stop there, you'll be on for a great journey. Search for her version of the "Flower Duet" with Delphine Haïdan from this same Lakmé opera. I bet you won't be disappointed.
