SUMMARIES:
- The long-standing mascot for Wendy’s has been a girl named Wendy, the freckle-faced, smiling, 8-year-old girl with braids. She is modeled after the fourth child of the founder, Dave Thomas.
- Colonel Sanders is one of the most recognizable fast food mascots, with his iconic white hair, mustache and beard, crisp white suit and black necktie. He depicts southern charm, traditional cooking, and hospitality.
- The early design of the now iconic fast food mascot, Ronald McDonald, was a tad less charming and certainly less effective than his current day incarnation. Willard Scott was a weatherman, radio host and children’s television performer.
- You know how it goes. In the beginning, there was a coyote. Then, there was a rat. Or something like that. The creator of Chuck E. Cheese was, interestingly, Nolan Bushnell. Bushnell is also the founder of Atari.
- When a video was uploaded to Facebook in March 2019 of a real-life cow crossing traffic and heading straight for a Chick-Fil-A, the cow mascots received some free publicity. The Indiana cow seemed intent on dining at the poultry place, tailed by cops and enthralled passersby.
- In 1971, Hamburglar first emerged as a tricky older man who stole burgers to feed his super-sized appetite for McDonald’s food. He wore a white t-shirt with the words, “Lone Jogger” on the front and occasionally he would be referred to that in the television ads as if that was his name.
- While a lot of fast food mascot ideas are meant to have longevity and become iconic images for customers to remind them of their favorite lunch spots, the Quizno’s Spongmonkeys were really just meant to be weird.
- Grimace, the large, purple, blobby character who resided in McDonaldland with Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, Birdie and the McNugget Buddies, wasn’t always so huggable and inviting. The original Grimace was created in 1971 and was intended to be a villain, known as Evil Grimace.
- In a Reddit AMA, Jack was questioned by fans on various aspects of his life. One fan was curious about how long it takes a human-bodied man with a ping pong clown head to get ready in the morning. Jack’s answer was that he often meditates for an 8 hour period upon waking, then he quickly takes a two-minute shower and dresses himself.
- The Burger King is infamously creepy, with a large, plastic head, lack of expression and at times reckless and unpredictable physicality. The brand seemingly embraced the King’s creepiness with wide-open arms, using the power of creep to spread advertising through water cooler talk and the stuff of nightmares.

A lot of those mascots are pretty cool and I'm glad some of them were updated, but Burger King's mascot and Quiznos' former ones are for lack of a better word creepy! Great video by the way 👍

Actually, yes, in my opinion. If I remember correctly, the animatronics used to be more active with the children. I think my favorite thing about the shows as a kid was how good it was to watch them be active while the TV played (TV changed up the shows). I don't know, but I personally think the newer Chuck E Cheese is more of a generic and cheap version of the original Chuck E Cheese. Sure, they have the mascot interact with the children, but the animatronics on the stage, from what I usually hear, say the same things over and over without changing anything up. It kind of feels like the newer Chuck E Cheese is working for the money and not really caring if what they invest in is exactly for the kids. In fact, it's like it just works using a lower budget, but that's my opinion. I think they used to try to entertain kids, but nowadays, I think they just think throwing games at kids and pizza is good enough. Maybe I'm wrong, but my old childhood Chuck E Cheese was better.

The cow visiting Chick-Fil-A in Indiana is a only a couple minute drive from my house. It escaped from a small farm that is very close to the restaraunt. I also remember the first billboard in Atlanta featuring the cows as I was down down there for a World Series game.

In the early 80's, either Long John Silvers or Captain D's had a brief commercial mascot named "Freebie the Fish" - apparently for a BOGO offer or something similar. Faint memory of it but recall Freebie as a rip-off of the famous canned tuna mascot. Anytime I hear "freebie", a talking fish first crosses my mind before anything else. 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

I've never ever been in an fast food restaurant in my childhood, the first time I was in some kind of McDonald's was when I was 21 and I was going out with other university students. I still don't like that type of food, but KFC was okayish, I can say.
Oh wow I seen your video. Pretty good. In the 90s I was working in Dalton Georgia. Dave Thomas was cooking in the Wendy's we are at. I kept telling the guys that's him. He kept smiling at us. I'm pretty sure that was him. Also in Gadsden Alabama. There was an old guy I seen him all over the place. He looked exactly like Colonel Sanders. He was always wearing white suits and the Bolo tie. Come to find out. I actually talked to the guy. He was super nice. He actually borrowed money from Colonel Sanders to start his chicken restaurant. He was friends if the Sanders family. It was just super cool to see him and it was so crazy he didn't have to dress up with make up he naturally looked like Mr KFC. I later found out that the Sanders family wanted this guy to be the guy in commercials. KFC didn't do it. They had rather blow money on an actor that took 4 or 5 hours in make up to look like him. This man naturally looked like Colonel Sanders and was friends of the family. I always thought that was mighty shallow of kfc they aren't as popular as they could be. I really believe. Their poor judgement and selfishness. Got them not so popular. Good video and channel .

oh man.. ok, so THAT's why i used to be scared of grimmace haha. my first job was mcdonalds and they put me on fries for a whole shift and that night i had a nightmare that grimmace was chasing me and throwing fries at me and i was so confused. i told my parents and my mom was all, well you used to be scared of grimmace.... i was like, huh? why? i mean purple is my favorite color and grimmace doesn't look scary....

Colonel Sanders also HATED chain KFC so goddamn much. He would lambast everything about the flavors, textures, nearly everything - because it was all pared down for commercial production and to keep costs down.

I still want to know what is Grimmace supposed to be? And what happened to him? I miss him.
Grimmace and the rest of the gang were retired by McDonalds due to the ever increasing scrutiny that people of today are putting on Fast Food chains. Basically, parents were upset that McDonalds and other Fast Food chains were using colorful characters in an attempt to coax kids to come to their restaurant's and eat. This of course plays into the Childhood Obesity Epidemic. So since then, most Fast Food chains have heavily cut back on Child Marketing and instead focus on the parents. Selling things like Fresh Milk, Apples, Juice, ect... brings relief to a parent's mind that the Resturant isn't all that bad.
