i used to be so jealous of the kids that brought mcdounalds to lunch, but now i am so grateful my mom put the energy to cook homemade meals, even though she works.
I turned 18 today, and man, I am so grateful that my parents almost never gave me fast food. This video is an eye-opener to just how much companies deceive and manipulate consumers.
Just wanna say I watched this video 3-4 months ago and went from eating fast food a couple times a week to cutting it out almost entirely. I’ve been trying to lose weight and it’s helped a lot. Over the past year and a half I’ve dropped down from 250 pounds to just now hitting 179 (6’2 F)! I feel really good about myself and I’m not done yet, but I just wanna say thank you for making this video, it’s helped a lot with my weight loss journey!
The closest store to me is a dollar general so I've been eating that and nothing but door dash for months now, I finally started eating home cooked meals and vegetables again and now I'm feeling better , had no idea it would make me feel this bad.
I have started avoiding ultra processed food altogether by baking bread, biscuits, cookies and even making my own pasta at home. I was once addicted to potato chips but now I don’t eat potato chips at all. I don’t bring junk food home at all. I have started drinking fresh coconut water and never felt so better.
It's crazy how something that was supposed to make our life more convenient and easier has actually ruined so many. For some it can become an addiction. Great video!
Facts. A Coworker of mine only eats fast food, he goes to McDonald's a day earlier to get his burgers for the next morning.. he only drinks Coca Cola aswell, nothing healthy and that's the way he looks and smells..
I remember McDonald's was an addiction for me. I would go there before work at night to get my dinner. I became consciously aware of my addiction but hesitated to stop. But I had to quit eating there cause McDonald's was always making me late for work. The drive thru always took about 20 minutes. It was a good thing cause I was packing on the pounds.
You are so lucky to have access to fresh fruit and vegetables, what we have, for the most part, here in the USA is stuff that's old, not fresh or has no taste to begin with.
I'm Asian too, but I grew up in the US. My parents cooked everything at home because they weren't used to eating American fast food. I loved McDonalds but I could only eat it once in a while (it was like a special occasion). I'm very glad my parents instilled the importance of homecooked meals in our family. I'll definitely try to do the same for my kids
i'm from a latin-american country and same, we only had fast food maybe every few months. it's always been pricey, especially for an entire family, plus if we went a day eating fast food or sandwiches we'd end up feeling weak and craving our regular food.
NOBODY BLAME THE FOOD INDUSTRIES nobody , he addictrd with sugar SUGAR SUGAR not FOOD, THEY ARE PROTECTING THE FOOD INDUSTRIES THE FOOD industries are killing HUMANITY..
That did terrify me as well... cause that is me. However she did end the video saying if you’re in good health then the risk is low so to enjoy but in moderation. So maybe every 2 weeks 😅
I gave up sodas 3 yrs ago. Never again. I now only eat whole foods and meat for protein. I was 295 lbs. Giving up carbs, processed and sugar, I lost 75 lbs, I now weigh 220. And now I feel great and may live much longer. I an now 81 yrs old.
Hello, i am the exact weight you used to be "295" i eat fast food almost every single day, i do not drink soda at all but i do drink gatorade pretty often, and i have a sweet tooth for chocolate. My goal is to weigh 230! Im 6ft tall male. If its not too much to ask could you help me make a list on what to eat? I have no idea where to start! But you made it! So you know the way! I wouldnt mind blending my foods if i need to..... i would not eat fish or sea food, i dislike it so much
@@aquaticlives2948 I went on the Keto diet. No pkg'd food. No sugar. Lots of fat, meat, eggs, butter. NO CARBS. lots of veggies, and no fruit while your losing. I lost 50lbs in 3months. I still am on keto, but now I can eat a little sugar, ice cream. When dont consume carbs, your body uses fat that is why you lose. David
I only have fast about once a month I think as treat once in awhile is ok as long as your healthy the majority of the time. But I mean the less fast food you have the healthy your probably going to be.
From experience. Senior man here. Cut out, as much as possible, sugar, salt, processed flower and white bread. Just those three adjustments have made a huge change in my physical and mental health. It only took a couple of weeks.
I'm the exact same way! I literally get sick at fast food now, I can't believe how I'd guzzle a big sweet tea at Mcdonald's... Still are a little addicted to the fries though, that's how you know they're that bad for you lol
So true! A few weeks ago I went to McDonald's for the first time in months after changing to a healthier diet, I could instantly tell my body was rejecting it. It didn't even look or taste yummy 🤢
Same. I cut out fast food, ALL deep fried foods, all soda beverages (regular/diet/club/tonic/energy), commercial juices, sugared sauces, sugared breakfast cereal, and microwave popcorn. Now my healthy home cooked meals made with wild fish, fresh produce, whole grains, and limited oil/salt and minimal industrial additives DO have their sparkle back! And air popped popcorn actually tastes good now lol. Over time I realized that our country’s professionally engineered food hijacked my perception of taste and pleasure and prevented me from genuinely enjoying whole foods I still make sure to allow myself to have an indulgence every now and again. I can enjoy the occasional light icecream, chips ahoy cookie, baked good or slice of mushroom pizza without feeling any shame or guilt. I also allow myself to drink Bubly/LaCroix without being disappointed in myself for not drinking plain water.
“My goal is to not make you quit fast food” lol this made me quit fast food I didn’t do it for weight, I was already a healthy size but I have chronic depression and it made me feel so bad. I’m a year clean! I feel so much better now thank you so much
It’s so true, my dad’s depression was really obvious when he was only eating fast food. Depression makes you also not have the motivation to do things as cooking and sometimes makes you feel like you don’t deserve to take care of yourself, though, so it can end up making you turn to fast food even more often, and then make you feel even worse.
I wrote a Biology paper on the dangers of ultra-processes foods recently, and yet I still had no idea it was this bad. Happy for you! I'm so glad that it helped.
Growing up my family always said eating healthy was “too expensive” and then they’d proceed to spend $70-$80 a night on Popeyes or McDonalds. There were times where we would have fast food everyday and I would literally crave a vegetable rather than have more fast food. And by the age of 11 I already had second stage high blood pressure. Now I’m 18 and I eat a mainly plant based diet while going to the gym 5 days a week. I feel much healthier and I never want to go back to that lifestyle ever again. The overconsumption of fast food is abuse.
That's so sad ! So your family was rather lazy. In my family, it was quite the opposite. I was a kid in the seventies and France did not have yet all the fast food you can find today. So Coca-Cola and other stuff were just banished from my mother and today, I'm glad. Never eaten any McDonald stuff, never had any health issues and I'm just preparing homemade pizza, the dough and everything. Cooking is pure joy and when it's kept simple, you are not hungry every third hour, you are not grazing between meals but you enjoy fully what you have freshly cooked. It's a simple philosophy everybody could embrace, if only they would do it.
My family was very similar, except it would be more frozen food so we could eat whenever we wanted with the help of a microwave. We didn’t have any set meal times, you would just microwave a corn dog whenever you were hungry. when I visited my grandparents for the summer, every meal would be fast food. When I was ten we moved to an area with a grocery store in walking distance, and slowly I started spending my own money on more healthy food bc I was craving it. Now I have a part time job and buy my own food + I work out. I’m glad I stopped living like that, I would never go back either.
@@ChrisOhMy Lol it’s gotten ridiculous with meat over the years. Doctors and nutritionists both flip flop every so often first cursing meat then coming back a few years later saying that it’s good for you. Like I understand you don’t want to be eating red meat daily (lol even though I could bc it’s just really good) but it’s perfectly fine to have in your diet.
I haven’t had a fast food meal in 3 yrs. I really missed them for a while, until I started to look and feel so much better. I learned about metabolic health from You Tube. I turned my life around starting at age 65. Food is fuel. No more boxed or bagged foods for me ever again.

I feel bad for them because they are lower income because that's their target audience and just knowing some of them have kids and it's all they can afford really makes me angry
I was happily eating a Big Mac and fries then I decided to watch this video. Now I feel sick 🤢 I think it’s time to cut out fast food and start eating healthy again
@@moonshineman5691 it helps! It makes you lose weight and then when you want to eat frozen foods (like many used to at work), it tastes nasty, like plastic.
I remember reading a quote from a nutritionist: "Your taste buds have a memory of about three weeks." In other words, years of fast food, junk food, and all around heavily processed garbage have overstimulated our taste buds, making us crave levels of salt, sugar and fat that are beyond what we normally should have. We can 'feel' full, but still 'crave' our fix. Learning to cut back on all three, eating whole, unprocessed foods and plenty of produce for a long of enough period of time, like a month to a year, will help you reset your taste buds. I used to have quite the sweet tooth, throwing in syrup and all kinds of sweets into my fruit smoothies. Now? frozen fruit, water, and maybe some almond milk are enough for me. You can fix this!
I have realized many people sub milk for almond milk in smoothies but I still am not sure why. (other than the fact that some people are intolerant) Why is this?
@@moskiix5323 cow's milk has hormones in it - that are obviously very good for little cows, but not that good for entirely different species, like human beings. It can and will hurt you, even if you do not see it at first. Also, milk has lactose in it - lactose is a sugar and it does not matter if the milk is "lactose-free" or not. Because the second one only has put the lactase enzyme in it, so the lactose is still there, it's only already digested, so a grown-up body that doesn't produce lactase anymore (we actually need it only as children to digest milk from out mums) can drink it without nasty consequences. So, by drinking milk you actually are giving your body sugars and hormones that it does not need. It's totally better/healthier to just take some water with a little bit of nut paste in it (like almond "milk") or something else made from healthy stuff (like oat "milk", it also tastes good). Also, many people put cow's milk away because of the way cows are treated. Animals that are "producing" things for us are too often living in real hell and many people hate it, so they f.ex. turn vegetarian and refuse to take any products made with suffering of feeling creatures.
@@theAsperist I agree with every point EXCEPT the hormone part. Unless you are talking about cow's milk straight from the farm, most pasteurized milk has hormones as well - but in such small quantities, that you would need to drink tons of milk all day to even reach a level where the hormones can affect your body in even the most mild way. And even then, your digestive tract erases those hormones. But as for your point about lactose and the morality issue, I absolutely agree.
Growing up one of my friends refused to drink soda for many reasons. I never believed any of them and then he challenged me to see if I could do it. It was pretty difficult but after about a month I didn't even think about it. The weird part was when I had another one I could only have a couple drinks it tasted like syrup and burned.
@@nerdomatic2489 Well, yes, but no. Search for articles about milk and acne - it's known that milk can cause acne, and many researchers strongly believe it's because of hormones. Another theory is that it's because of sugar. We still need more research on this field. Also please remember, that hormones are pretty easy to be made unstable - you do not have to eat much chicken (hormone-fed on farms of cages) or drink tons of milk (naturally occuring hormones + hormones in diet). Just a daily intake is usually enough.
Before my break up I was 140lbs, then got depressed, stopped going to the gym, and ate fast food multiple times a day, was tired and angry, after a year I weighed 215lbs! Now after getting back to the gym, eating healthier, stopping soda and fast food completely, I'm at 194 and I'm not depressed and I'm actually more energized and social than before!
She has a point. I tried replicating a burger from “Five Guys” and don’t get me wrong, it was really delicious. Just not the same as Five guys. This explains why.
I stopped eating fast food years ago, I dont even crave for it. Most of my meals are made at home, if I go on road trips I bring in snacks with me. I much rather eat at a small restaurant, I don't even bother sitting at chain restaurants because their foods preservatives.
My colleagues gave me the strangest look When they dragged me to Wendy’s and I ordered a plain baked potato and side salad with no croutons or dressing. People don’t get after a long time of refraining it can lose it’s appeal!
Not mentioned very often, in order to eat healthy and make it sustainable, it really helps to know how to cook! Also, if you’re going from a mostly processed food diet to a whole food diet ease your way into it…..by making “better bad choices”….like not getting fries with your burger or decreasing portion sizes.
Good point! If you don’t know how to cook there’s tons of videos right here on RUclips University- I’m no Ramsey chef myself but I follow recipes very well! 😊
I agree, I said this already above, but I really don't think it's funny at all😔she clearly has issues and is in pain. It's not simply because she "just doesn't like it", I think if people are going to talk about the science of food addiction, then that should make them more aware of how painful it is. I mean I've never experienced food addiction myself, but you can see how hard it is for them. I just don't think that's funny, I also think it was sad like you said
@@im_not_real1456 the issue is in her head like with people who have anorexia or bulimia.. it's not that they don't want to be healthy it's just that they mentally can't get over that 6 metre high wall to actually eat.. mentally they beat themselves up and they can't help it wich is one of the saddest things and only proves how much is wrong with today's society
I used to never eat veggies, I would gag at the thought, but since I stopped eating fast food and sugary foods I now am proud to say I eat most veggies! It is so important for my health that I changed.
@th1smomentisfate I'm sorry you struggle with that :( and to answer you, although obviously I'm no expert, I have seen that video in the actual context before I saw this small clip of it put in this video out of context. People like that have actual fears of foods outside of what they are comfortable with. Also, I don't think it's solely due to food addiction, I think it's a mix of things. For instance, I struggle with anorexia and I have gotten that same way in the past when I've tried to eat some of my biggest fear foods such as cheeseburgers or cupcakes. The thoughts that you have about what will happen if you eat your fear food are very irrational and are blown out of proportion. And for some people it could even bring back traumatic memories if they experienced trauma in relation to that food in some way. I personally really don't think she's just being dramatic but idk, that's just what I think. Like I said I think it's been taken out of context and some people have fears, phobias, and things that make them uncomfortable that without hearing the whole story, we might not understand. I don't think it's something to laugh at☹️
it never tastes like the fast food but ive made like chicken sandwiches and fried chicken at home and they taste delicious. they're still unhealthy but a lot better of an option than outside food cuz u know what ur putting in and can customize
I feel like the powder pringles put on their chips is really artificial too,it tastes so salty and weird...i actually prefer the offbrans pringles by far
You can make better, healthier, and even cheaper while you’re at it, but it takes a bit of practice. Edit: at least for some stuff, I don’t think pringles are something you can practically recreate. Hamburgers are a great example of food you can make better because you aren’t trying to do it on an industrial scale while maximizing profits. You can get the original KFC seasoning off the shelf also, I think it’s called 99x. The real secret ingredient, on top of the other herbs and spices, is MSG, IIRC.
@@adisaster8734 true. I used to work at burger king in 2016, and I worked with people that didn’t wash their hands, touched their face while wearing gloves and sneezing in their hands at times. I love your video!!! I quit fried foods two years ago as well as hamburgers. I can’t even eat at a fast food place anymore. I watch your video a lot as a motivator. @@gomangoism Ignorance, in this case, is chronic anxiety as a psychological effect of a strained heart trying to pump an amount of blood through clogged veins. I would not call ignorance bliss.
@Daniel-e8d5c No fast-food-addicted person would be able to tolerate such an intense shift in diet though. To make a more comfortable shift, prepare your veggies with other stuff and slowly get rid of the other stuff. Don't completely cut out salt either, especially if you work a job that makes you sweat a lot. A pinch of it in a salad won't give you a heart attack. It's important to take baby steps when trying to improve yourself. Most people try to take a gigantic leap, predictably fail, then never try again. Any improvement is still improvement, even consuming one less soda a day is a great improvement. Any time your will triumphs over instinct, you should feel proud of yourself.
@MrBigNuts476 unless they made their own sauce it is still unhealthy. pasta is digested fast and not so filling. the sauce from stores has so much unnecessary sugars so it makes it basically garbage. Most food that is convenient is most likely bad for you.
My mom hates cooking tbh, but she cares about what we eat and I appreciate it, never chose fast food over homecooked meals. Now that I'm older I help her in the kitchen because I love cooking :)
When we were growing up we didn't have a lot of money so going to a place like McDonalds or Bakers was kind of rare and a nice treat. Other than that my Mom cooked, and she cooked good with what she had. She also made sure me and brothers and sisters were active children. She always told us as kids no woman want's a slobby body, and she always told my sisters no man want's his woman with a slobby body.
My mom very rarely fed me fast food, when I was a kid I used to think it’s because she “hated me” but now I’m so glad she only bought it on very special occasions as a treat, I’d only get it 2 times a year. (Sometimes she wouldn’t get any at all 🤷♂️)
Your videos seem like clickbait, but then aren’t. LISTEN HERE BRIGHTSIDE, TAKE NOTES. If only all RUclips creators were like you... Edit: thanks for the likes guys! But big question - what are we fans called? The channel has over 20k now, so...?
LOL this one is actually my version of a Brightside video! I was thinking of doing a whole series just like this. I always want to know wtf 'happens to my body when I eat cucumbers everyday for a year '~ * ~* or whatever else they promise but - they usually let me down lol
Soy Yui it’s sad, the educative, well informed creators don’t have enough subscribers because lots of them (after getting a large amount of subscribers) end up trying to get more ‘interesting’ or a larger amount of content. Often times, to get more content, the RUclipsrs will cut out some amount of research or experimentation to get a more often upload. Think of channels like brightside, they know that a title such as ‘what happens if you eat cucumber everyday for a year’ draws people in, which also brings money in. However, they have no way to test what would happen, or they know that the answer isn’t interesting enough to make the video into the minimum length of 10:00 (I think) minutes that a RUclips video has to be to earn money from views; so they go off topic to drag it out, all for the sake of a couple of cents per every thousand views if this makes no sense, it is because it is currently 2:33 where I live and I need to sleep
When i was in college, i went through 4 years of eating mostly fast food because i worked in that industry and i didn’t have much time or resources to cook on my own. It’s an addiction. Harder to beat than it seems. Not impossible, but there’s an unhealthy tendency to make people feel like crap if they can’t just “take control.” The solution is to acknowledge the gravity of the situation, to want to change, and to make a concrete “game plan” to achieve your goals. Willpower alone is not enough.
@Dale Ritter Okay, not sure where all the anger is coming from and I’m not sure where I was complaining about anything/whining. I wasn’t even talking about MYSELF specifically. And yes, you have to want to change and no one can do it for you, but willpower alone is not enough is to power through the lows-you have to have a game plan for when you feel like quitting. I think you read a lot more into my comment than what’s actually there because we both believe the same thing. I do think that shaming people is counter-productive, however. I’m not feeling sorry for anyone-in fact I don’t have much patience for people who expect me/anyone else to do their work for them-it’s just that feelings of guilt and self-hatred make for poor motivators for most people.
Quitting fastfood and going on a whole foods plant based diet took me way more effort compared to quitting harddrugs. Something I did not expect to find out. 10 years clean now, both ways. Anyone can change, you just got to be willing to leave unsupportive people behind.
No shit because plants aren’t the natural human diet. You were pretty much just starving yourself out. Why do you think it took so much discipline an effort.
@@kaneda956 ; exactly this! and on top of that, you literally need food to live unlike recreational drugs. and the harm fast food causes is a lot less visible and understood than the extremely obvious danger of drugs as well. unfortunately, society doesnt portray junk food to be just as self-destructive and addicting as other addictions. this does seem shocking upon first read, but when you think about it, it makes *total* sense that fast food is harder to drop than drugs.

Me neither. I always said that I would never eat it again after eating fastfood and feeling bad, and then I eventually would do it again because it's so addictive. But now I am over it entirely.
I will tell you why because you must be regularly working out and staying away from sugar as much as you can and that is why when you eat these proccessed foods filled with sugar you start to feel bad. Same happens with me. I have been working out for 4+ years and when I gotta eat fast foods in rare occassions mostly due to University then I feel super bad from inside and I feel like I am the fattest person walking even though I workout and almost had abs in my first year of Uni.

Well it is true. Dopamine is made as a reward for achieving a goal or overcoming a problem. But games and fast food and drugs give instant dopamine surges so it messes with the system and makes you addicted to the easy access dopamine surges which crashes your dopamine into the ground so you have no motivation to do anything.
@@MrCmon113 I meant to say it is true sorta. Since dopamine is suppose to be used to for beneficial things natrually for survival. but its main function is pleasure not learning and etc.
They did a study and they took rats and gave them a button for food , the rats would obviously keep pressing the button to get food , and they would actively go for it . They then took rats and removed their dopamine system somehow (idk exactly how , my guess is a dopamine blocking drug) and the rats would not move to get the food. They would press the button if they were directly in front of it , but they were not motivated to actually get the food. Dopamine is a motivation chemical, dopamine creates a drive to do something , the reward comes from the endorphins and other chemicals
When I was a kid, my mom was STRICT about the food we ate. We barely ever ate fast food and there was no such thing as chips, soda, or sugary snacks in our house. All we had were animal crackers, water and maybe a lil juice here and there. Not even peanut butter a healthy fat 😂😂. It was either animal crackers or home cooked meals. I definitely thank God for her and so glad she raised us this way. I barely even glance at fast food. I prefer my own cooking. It tastes much better anyways.
It really does taste better, there's a little Ceasars up the road from me and around 6pm there's a long line in the drive thru and I always think to myself, why would they pay 15 bucks for that pizza when they could make WAY better pizza way cheaper? It's not even a matter of not having enough time either, make the dough before you go to bed or before work then when you get home just shape it, put toppings on and back for 8 min at 500°.
The part where you say: "I think its totally unfair and corrupt that this information isn't offered up to consumers by the companies that are serving this food to billions of people a year" YES! YES! YES! Education and food knowledge is SO important.
Uhm...common sense. Everyone knows fast food is garbage and if someone has any common reasoning they should be able to think if a cheeseburger costs $1, how high quality "food" can it possibly be ? It's alarming if people can't realize by themselves they are ingesting the lowest forms of food possible. You'd be better off baking a cake. It's not healthy, but at least you know it's real eggs, real butter, etc..
"The point of this video is not to scare you into not eating fast food" "Also eating fast food once a week increases your chance of heart attack by 20%"
Looking at my local swimming spots people used lockdown as an excuse to be even lazier. So many overweight males bound to a chair the whole time. Just like home.
Not sure how does she mean that but it's often calculated like this. You have for example 1% risk of a heart attack and you increase that by 20%. Meaning you now have 1.2% risk of a hearth attack, not 21%.
I hate that my parents never fed me vegetables and only fed me junk food. Now i struggle trying new foods and vegetables and I'm trying so hard it's so difficult 😣

How to make Brussel sprouts taste great: Use fresh Brussels sprouts, *not* frozen. Toss them in a warmed up pan with some olive oil. Cook on medium. As it’s cooking, toss in a pinch of salt, a pinch of sugar, and some pepper. Leave it until they brown. Flip em, and eat em. Great stuff. You can skip the sugar, but it makes children accept it easier.
SpiderMungkey, yeah. Great show. Horrible situations. I remember that joke as well. Stir frying is the way I love vegetables. I often skip the sugar and salt, as I can’t really taste things too well (lived with a dog I’m allergic to, so no sense of smell). This makes eating good food even harder for me. I have some other recipes for good food, but they take a lot more time to do. Stir frying is a pretty quick way to cook veggies. Great stuff. Cook, on, my friend.

One of the stupidest things I’ve ever came to was a person who thought that me loving vegetables and fruits was a simple trend ... just because many people don’t like vegetables and fruits doesn’t mean us who like it are faking it ..I just had to say this this is exactly how addicted people and their minds are to the flavors of Junk food . Anyways great video 💖💖
Maris Ito they’re not generally disliked but more like a burden in a diet .. when it comes to diet everyone seems to get tired of fruits and vegetables and it was always the opposite for me I guess that’s why
Sage Versace you make a good point. Fruits and vegetables are delicious. But I wouldn't say I can't stop my cravings for them as I eat them. When I eat a pizza slice my hunger increases. When I eat fruit and vegetables my hunger decreases. Both are tasty.
Fast food doesn’t taste good at all to me. I make homecooked meals, make my own salsas, sauces, everything. Now if I’m too busy to cook and decided to have cheat meals, I can taste the chemical and excess sugars. No to mention feeling like absolute garbage afterwards.
I saved so much money after cutting fast food out of my life omg. I can't believe I used to ear this "cheat meal" once a week that didn't even fill me up in any way and instead made me hungrier (which in turn makes me spend more money).
When I was in india fast food or extremely processed food costs more than natural or less processed food but now I'm in England n processed foods r way cheaper than vegetables n other less processed food or fast foods well so even if some people don't want to eat fast food we have to coz it's way cheaper (especially if u r a uni student ) :(
4:00 This is why therapists who specialize in disordered eating, paired with dietitians, can be such a powerful combination. That woman’s reaction to natural food tells you so much about how physically and psychologically she needs support to reach a healthier “new normal”. Great video, the editing was wonderful.
I was fast food addicted and I know super many people that made fun of the woman and her reaction to a vegetable but I gotta be honest here... I too cried when I ate my first salad after one and a half year of mostly fast food consumption. It was disgusting.
To be fair, she has a boiled and unseasoned brussel sprout. Vegetables are delicious when prepared properly, but many people think they hate them because all they have had is boiled and bland veggies.
@@jaredhicks5655 It would've for me omg, blended carrot... I make smoothies with banana, raspberry and cacao because vegetables in smoothies is just one of the worst textures I've had and I'm genuinely impressed you'd accept a carrot smoothie with a smile.
This information actualy helps people so much. We must talk about it, on repeat mode. One of my firends in a denial state. And basically only eats fast food and frozen dinners. She doesn't even realize that constant stomach pain, mood swings and depression are cause by her food addiction.
Its true people must talk about it but the fact of the matter is I don't think people have absolutely no idea that its unhealthy- they know. Just like smokers, its literally written on the box that it can cause damage to their lungs and give them cancer but they just either don't want to or cant give up without rehabilitation methods.
Ever since I started eating healthy I don’t crave fast food as much, makes so much sense. And when I did have fast food, I didn’t enjoy it as much, just felt terrible because I wasn’t getting the nutrition and had to run to the bathroom after.
I don't crave it either, but i still eat it from time to time. Usually because of the social aspect (sitting in the movie theatre with a bag of M&M's or whatever, what else am i gonna eat there? Carrots?) and afterwards i don't need to eat ANOTHER 10 bags. I go home and eat rice with Broccolli. People just need to learn about balance and not think in extreme opposite terms like "Only eat junk" or "Only eat lettuce"
I tried eating Dairy Queen after not eating fast food for 3 years, and I got so sick I could barely leave my bed for 2 days. It’s crazy how our body can build somewhat of an “immunity” to garbage like that.
oh my gosh, I used to think that Mcdonald's ice cream was DELICIOUS, but after eating a lot of it in a short span of time, I realized that the taste is actually so artificial and fake and doesn't taste good anymore lol.
I get that you're trying to make a statement, but your message gives off a really pompous "I'm so good that my body won't even accept fast food. My body will only accept the purest of pure food."
The steam kid I never said those those things and I wasn’t implying that either. I don’t know why you chose to be offended over words that weren’t said but okay thanks for the feedback I guess
This past weekend, I went on a fast food fasting period. As I am a fast food worker, this might have sounded difficult, but it wasn’t. I brought my own snacks to eat on my breaks and drank water on my shifts. As the processed food left my body, I began to feel a change. As a regular fast food consumer, I felt lethargic and crabby because I didn’t have a lot of energy. Over the time I didn’t consume fast food, I noticed.a change. I began to feel more energetic and my mood began to improve. I genuinely felt good. As I learned what fast food does to your body, I started to look at fast food a different way. I know I’ll be cutting way down on my fast food consumption by eating at home before I go to work and take a snack to keep my hunger at bay while I’m there. It’s all worth the change if I want to continue to feel good from day to day.
I know you mean well with the advice that you can occasionally have fast food to eat as long as you don't overdo the occasions. Fast food can get it's hooks into you quickly and then you are back to eating it on the regular. I try to never eat it. In an ideal world I would like to see these businesses demolished and replaced with healthier eating options. When I was in Japan I could go to their quick trip and get sweet potato soup. Other healthier option were available as well.
Such a wonderful, informative, and inspiring video, Kiana! It is not only up to these fast food companies to self-regulate (which they won’t), but government also bears a tremendous responsibility. This also seems like a slim possibility, as I imagine there is lots of money and politicking involved, driven by lobbyists to keep these additives in fast food.
I am happy to say I haven’t had one single fast food meal this ENTIRE year (2020) an will most likely not get one in a long time Edit: it’s been half of 2021 now and I’m still going ✌️

The link between mental health and unhealthy food is overlooked so often. Whilst the affects of fast food are easier to see, knowing that people who eat fast food regularly are 51% more likely to be depressed is alarming. And then tying that into socioeconomic relations to fast food, it's quite overwhelmingly and disproportionately affecting poorer people mentally and physically. This was really eye-opening and I can't wait to see future videos. This is one of my new favourite channels and I've been bingewatching all of them
I feel like it's a correlation, not a causation. I'm depressed as well and I used to struggle with this not because I suddenly got depressed after consuming fast food, I was depressed since I was 13 and eating home cooked meals, but it's rather the fact that you have no energy to cook so you resort to ordering stuff. However I can guarantee that cooking your own food is way healthier and gives you a lot of satisfaction which helps with depression
i feel so connected to this because I've been eating healthy and whole foods for most of my life. But once I decided to reward myself by eating a bag of Doritos, I kept craving its flavour for the next 2 weeks. Luckily Doritos is quite expensive in our country and I tend not to waste money on junk food, the craving was gone.
I suggest eating more fatty ANIMAL foods(dont go any for any plant oils). That alone for me keeps me from cravings for some reason and though people think fatty foods= fat gain it doesn't actually especially in the case of animal fats. Eggs, butter, steaks and if you have the budget: salmon's also great.

You really don’t realize just how bad this shit makes you feel until you stop. And that’s even just eating it a couple times a week. I can’t imagine how some people eat it everyday. It makes me depressed, anxious, sluggish, brain fogged, and overweight. Once I stopped, it was like I became a different person or aged backwards 15 years. Healthy eating habits are the way to go.
Yep, it's insane. Especially the lack of brain fog. I can recall macros and calories per serving size for TONS of different foods. I can eat for a week and never have to Google how many calories something has. It didn't take long for all that to sink in either. Pre-healthy me would NEVER have remembered all these numbers.
For almost an entire year I had a job that had me on the go most of the time. I wasn't organized with my time, nor did I earn that much money back then so I relied on take out to keep me going. Looking back, the reason why I was probably in such a bad mood most of the time back then was due to the food I ate, in addition to the high stress that that particular job caused me. And I haven't even mentioned how all that eating wrecked my body and gave me a skinny fat physique.
Honestly I’m glad my family always eat homemade food and fruits almost daily, we only have fast food once a month or sometimes once in a few months. We usually have homemade fries and sometimes make our own burgers instead of buying it from fast food chain.

For how many years have you been in a culinary school now? By the way I agree. Cooking can be funny and relaxing at the same time if you do it with will and calm
@Jonny Williams I don't actually eat fast food, sorry for the confusion. I was just saying I don't have a stove so cooking is not too much of an option bc there are probably ppl in my predicament that consume a lot of fast food.
Im so sorry

@Stop Trolling Everyone but Americans. Have you heard of Australians? We're not the only country in the world.
I remember reading a quote from a nutritionist:
"Your taste buds have a memory of about three weeks." In other words, years of fast food, junk food, and all around heavily processed garbage have overstimulated our taste buds, making us crave levels of salt, sugar and fat that are beyond what we normally should have.
I really appreciate the amount of research you incorporate into your videos. It must've taken forever💀

I agree, I said this already above, but I really don't think it's funny at all😔she clearly has issues and is in pain.

Hamburgers are a great example of food you can make better because you aren’t trying to do it on an industrial scale while maximizing profits.

However, they have no way to test what would happen, or they know that the answer isn’t interesting enough to make the video into the minimum length of 10:00 (I think) minutes that a RUclips video has to be to earn money from views; so they go off topic to drag it out, all for the sake of a couple of cents per every thousand views

It just boils down to moderation and self responsibility
Dont let the food control you, you take control
It’s an addiction. Harder to beat than it seems. Not impossible, but there’s an unhealthy tendency to make people feel like crap if they can’t just “take control.” The solution is to acknowledge the gravity of the situation, to want to change, and to make a concrete “game plan” to achieve your goals. Willpower alone is not enough.
The food is design to be addictive and binged on, moderation is quite unrealistic
people have eating disorders
It’s not about control- cuz people with EDs will use that phrase to control their food and restrict ect

"Dopamine's main function isn't pleasure, it's learning and motivation"
I don't know why, but that part really stuck with me.
Well it is true. Dopamine is made as a reward for achieving a goal or overcoming a problem.

I don't get the appeal either. Might be because I only eat it once or twice a year.

I was fast food addicted and I know super many people that made fun of the woman and her reaction to a vegetable but I gotta be honest here... I too cried when I ate my first salad after one and a half year of mostly fast food consumption. It was disgusting.

In fairness, Brussel sprouts do suck hard. A blended carrot smoothie wouldn't have gotten that reaction

After re-watching this - recently, I am very grateful and will watch it if I have the urge to break my low carb diet. Well done.

Yess especially with processed food I will literally throw up.

uhh you have health problems then bucko lol
Lies again? Grab Food Trade Secrets
I am happy to say I haven’t had one single fast food meal this ENTIRE year (2020) an will most likely not get one in a long time

This is one of my new favourite channels and I've been bingewatching all of them
Here: this isn't new to suicidal people. They know it, they just don't care because they don't want to live anymore.
I suggest eating more fatty ANIMAL foods(dont go any for any plant oils). That alone for me keeps me from cravings for some reason and though people think fatty foods= fat gain it doesn't actually especially in the case of animal fats.

You should really eat fast food for breakfast lunch and dinner, it can't hurt
