Any shop can throw an exhaust or turbo kit on but it takes a real technician to diagnose and out things back to OEM. Y’all are a dying breed of honest work done right the first time. Kudos. 👏🏻
I brought my S2000 for an alignment at a shop down here in Hollywood, FL and the owner (who's also an s2k owner) was talking to me about his car and your name came up. You do great work and we all appreciate you!
dealerships are only good with current models. an S2000 is min 20 yrs old now, most of the dealership guys are apprentices or only a couple years trade experience so most have never even seen one in person. on the other hand, you guys at LHT are model specialists, with S2000's as your bread and butter.
Not even with "current" models. "Computer, tell me which compute unit my customer will pay for next." Dealerships are no mechanics. I went to Honda for a big rattle and they could not even diagnose a shock that had leaked. "We hear nothing"... Went for a randomly working ac and they charged me for a brand new condenser. My condenser was already brand new. F dealerships.
The issue is most good techs leave the dealer because of the lack of work and the flat rate system. The dealers have a hard time finding techs because they want to pay them as little as possible so they can keep most of the money from the shop rate for themselves. So they are left with moving people from the car wash and porter positions into the shop as “techs” and you end up with people not knowing how to diagnose vehicles and vehicles not being repaired properly.
Also i been a honda tech for 21 years. All these dealerships push out the older higher paid veteran techs to replace them with kids that cheat on the online training courses that cant fix cars... Out of 25 good techs we have 5 left with a bunch of kids that think there hot shit... 😢 @333KINGPIN33
Same with my local Chevy dealer, had a great tech for my c5 corvette. Then the dealer sold to an internet troll and within a year, new employees and then the fired my favorite mechanic.
A shop is only as good as the technician working on your vehicle. Most of the time shops get bad names because of 1 person, which is sad and unfortunate. I myself am a mechanic for a major tire chain and some stores have bad reputations and some don't. I always have the same mentality you do, be as honest to the customer as you can be and I even catch myself doing little TLC things that I don't NEED to do to get the job done but i I treat it like it's my own car. I still get paid the same regardless of what I do. Just helps me sleep at night. I will say about 50% of the customers do appreciate what I do when I tell them. I think about a year ago I did a lift on a ram truck and I washed the truck for the guy, was not required what so ever. Even my boss asked me what I was doing lol. I said I am just giving the truck a quick wash, guy spent 6k on a lift and wheels and tires and I just couldn't send it out the door dirty.... took me 15 min and guy was even surprised. Made my day. I always think about you when I do stuff like that. I always love the videos guys! Keep doing what you do! 💪💪💪
Was a Honda Tech for 5 yrs, blame the flat rate system. No one wants to waste time diagnosing a problem and not get paid for it. Unless the industry changes, independent shops will be diagnosing and fixing these problems.
We need more mechanics like you! I had in the past several car models and each of them with unique issues and no one couldn’t figure it out so I was replacing them every year or so! It is sad that mechanics can’t diagnose when there are no codes stored. Congrats! Nice dar deserves to perform as expected!
This is the absolute biggest reason why we need to have private repair shops who specialize in in the nitty gritty things that dealers WON'T do... I can't tell you how many times I get a problem sent to me at my car audio shop because the dealership couldn't find a solution to a problem.. give me a wire diagram and a multimeter and yes, there's time involved so it's not cheap... But if you have your problem fixed without going from place to place I think it's worth it!
I really like these videos, even more the way you guys work and the love you always have for the S2k... Really enjoy your content, hoping to become an S2k owner soon. Keep up the great work and awesome videos.
I wish there were more shops like you guys. Unrelated to Honda, but I drive a 2023 rogue with 51000 miles on it and it has been to the dealership 3times for the same issue, it’s currently still there. These guys are suppose to be the experts at the cars they sell. It’s just sad.
My 1994 sc300 was giving me all kinds of issues. The issue (after weeks of troubleshooting) ended up being three wires in the harness that had gotten pinched and were extremely exposed almost ripped apart. After soldering them no more issues. Electric issues are always the worse. 😭
There was only 1 Team to find and fix that issue. It's called LHT. And the details you showed regarding the Gearbox, dealer shops would have ignored/overseen it. One technical question regarding the Gearbox: The AP2 Gearbox is shorter in Gears than the AP1, despite 6th gear. Is there anything I need to consider when switching from AP1 to AP2 except the connection to the shaft, due to different bolt sizes? I would love to have the AP2 Gearbox in my European AP1. Many thanks in advance.
@@LHTPerformance You are welcome. I love the excellence of engineering you always put in and get everything, so easily looking, solved. Just great. Thanks, so it's really easy. Now I need to find an AP2 Gearbox in the US and get it shipped to Europe somehow 😅
John, any idea why the harness was butchered? I like to splice with factory-style crimp joiners and heat shrink. To me, doing wiring produces as much angst as doing my taxes☺
Another saved S2000 from a hack job, nice work LHT. No way the Stealership would have taken the time to solve those issues ues 👎🏼 George, I saw that ...😂
I have an stock ap2, I want a sound similar to this or as close the this, whats the best option you could recommend? Also, the uk mode worth it? Thanks in advance for any input info! Regards from Houston texas
That is not the right plug, it's not even the right iridium plug, those specific plugs only last 3 years tops. The Laser platinum or Laser iridium ones are the correct plugs.
@@jwhoward182 if you saw the video you’ll see that we had the car running for quite a while and then discovered the random wiring issue. It was a day later when we found it dropping cylinders.

Sounds about right. My local Honda dealer's owner came out to ask me what my S2000 was.

That yellow with the carbon top though 👌🏼, next, a trip to the body shop to freshen up that paint. That car is beautiful.
Dude, I could watch you guys all day. Makes me worry though if I can't find a trustworthy mechanic :(

Very very nice work fixing that wiring harnesses. Figuring out work that dealer couldn't figure out is the best feeling lol
LHT always working on customers car like it’s their own 🚗👍👍👍watching from Southern California
I love watching things get fixed the right way
Great job with the deep dive into the loom.

Just received the injector cover bolts, brake flasher, and shifter boot ... i had to install them right away lol

Flat rate. That is why they couldn't fix this car. You can't diagnose anything harder than a pattern failure on flat rate.
I like that exhaust, sounds nice.

if you got the money. good service costs.

The only thing dealerships do this days is scan for codes. They don’t diagnose shit anymore.

Just change the flange to match your driveshaft. It’s pretty straightforward.

somebody was messing with the harness without knowing how it works...l
Wow the amount of hack work in this car
About time we got another S2K on the channel!😅
Seriously these cars never get old. Partly because you and George make them timeless.🫶
Dealership techs are on flag system. Plus service writers are probably trying to upsell stuff or blow the car out....

Maybe it’s still shrinking 🤔

The HKS sound have a pretty good sound. It’s a small diameter so it’s not a big power source exhaust for the future. The UK mod would be my choice.

I just buy stuff and put it in. New is good.
No sense in letting the car warm up 12:54 it has been sitting in a dealership for 7 months

These Hondas are garbage nowadays. They used to be so good back in the 80s and 90s. Last couple of decades they are disastrous brand just like Nissan.
