  • Here we have a very interesting and transitional album from one of the biggest names in modern Metal. Machine Head's 5th full-length, Through The Ashes Of Empires, released in 2003 saw the band stylistically alter from the Nu Metal twists of Supercharger and The Burning Red, into a more Thrash and Groove oriented sound. So what are your thoughts on the excellent Through The Ashes Of Empires and the brilliant Machine Head? Let me hear you! @machinehead #machinehead #throughtheashesofempires #metal #heavymetal #numetal #groovemetal #underrated #underratedalbum #review

It sure is! Haven't checked out the DVD though, maybe I'll have to add that to the list! 🤘

In the dvd they weren't signed to label and no one wanted them. Trying to convince them to go softer but they said fuck that if we are going out we are going out on our own terms heavy asf. so this album literally saved their career. Definitely cool to see them at rock bottom then to this resurgence.@@nononsensemetalreviews

Empires is a great comeback to form by Machine Head that’s for sure. Imperium is a fantastic song, it could be their best song ever.

Empires is indeed a great album and I agree that Imperium is one of Machine Head's best tracks, also one of my favourites 🤘

When the album came out I was bang into MH and there are some great tracks on there, especially towards the end of the album that would never have been played live many times, if at all

There are definitely some very solid tracks here. I'm hoping nostalgia takes over and Robb decides to play the album live in full for a significant anniversary or something, that would be awesome! 🤘

Guys Burning Red and Supercharger were fantastic too. Don’t know why it’s a comeback.

Fair point! haha! I do like Supercharger quite a lot actually, but I definitely prefer TTAOE. I have tried to get into Burning Red... there are some solid tracks on there, but overall I do still struggle with that one. I want to like it more than I do, but I find that one a tough album to get into.....

Machine Head nearly lost their North American record deal with Roadrunner after Supercharger flopped. It's regarded by most MH fans as their worst album, prior to Catharsis. Through The Ashes had a way more positive reaction and helped Machine Head gain a new generation of fans. I'd say the album is a "comeback."

@butchvito oh wow, I had no idea that Supercharger was so ill received! I think it is a pretty good album, not the best but better than Catharsis definitely!

No, Nu-Metal has never been my metal cup of tea. The new Kvaen album though...

Me neither for the large part, although I have a weakness for Disturbed and some of the more Nu Metal tinged albums from Soulfly, Machine Head and Slipknot. Not familiar with Kvaen, I'd best do some research! 🤘

@@nononsensemetalreviews You like Black Metal. Give Kvaen a listen and share your opinion. Should you regret it I pay you a pint of bitter stout.
