Vagabond holds some of the greatest story arcs ever. The Yoshioka, Hozoin, Wandering, and so on. The Farm arc is possibly its most controversial arc, because it's so different from all the others. Some love it, and some think it's boring.
As you can quite obviously tell, I love this arc for many misunderstood reasons, which I explain in this video. This was fun can't lie. 500 likes for more arc analysis.

For me, Farming arc really solidified kindness is strength. Musashi struggled to get food for the farmers. And the old Musashi, "Takezo" would've refused to help. Except this new "Takezo" was willing to learn. Just to help others.

This arc was the one where the focal point of the story progressed the fastest, most people just don't realize it. I think that is why this arc is so good, it shows so much, but only to those who see

  • @MultiDiceman

it was the arc Musashi truly gained real "strength" the ability to be strong enough to impose his will, discipline and determination to create better outcomes for not just himself but for others. Its much more difficult to be kind, to build than it is to destroy.

Vagabond's farming arc is something which I consider one of the best piece of literature ever. No mangas I've read stand a chance against it.
And yeah Vagabond is one of the most consistent mangas out there

And one of the most shocking scenes is when we see Musashi in the bones kneeling asking the people of the temple for food for the villagers. No one would ever imagine Takezo from the beginning of the manga in that situation and it is a moment that every time I read it makes me cry like a baby.

honestly, I love the fact that this arc aged really well. When it first came out, people shit the hell out of it because it was slow and "uninteresting" when in reality it's true to Musashi's writings especially the Earth Book from the Book of 5 Rings.

  • @lrdass

What I find amazing of the farming arc is that if you read Musashi, the life of Miyamoto Musashi, the romance doesn't have this period where he lives in a farm. Actually, the book goes as linearly and to the eventual and unavoidable encounter with Sasaki. The closest it gets is when Musashi helped a village to defend themselves against some bandits.
But what I find fascinating is that it seems that the same level of understanding of who this person was in this "romantic" level was captured by the book and the manga only finished capturing this image of musashi through the battle against nature instead of Sasaki. Great video.

I’m not sure if this is part of the farming arc but I read the latest chapters which I’m sad to see hasn’t continued but in the end, did you guys see musashi’s demeanor? He no longer had a wild look in his eyes, held his head high and was reluctant to fight. I was left wondering if Takezo could actually beat Kojiro because it has seemed as if he has gotten worst at swordsmanship. While this may be true I studied the previous pages and realized Kojiro is weak in the way of his senses. People who are humble and see clearly can only begin to find Kojiro’s weakness and from then on can whittle him down. A battle between them would most likely be a draw considering both have great evasion but when it comes down to it, Takezo will outshine Kojiro if he does not let his emotions get involved. It’s been his greatest crutch through the entire series and it would be nice to see him stand strong without such lies as pride, anger and fear. Takezo was once a baby as everyone was and was born with a beautiful soul. He never needed to be so ashamed of himself to do what he did and never needed to do what he did to be that strong. It only helped him realize it which he needed to go through. I love inoue and I love that he took the time to create a master piece even if it’s not the true story of Musashi. He’s helped me with more than I can comprehend right now and has made a perfect story just the way it is

It seems like ya are trying to find ya niche right now and that’s very difficult with the amount of content on the platform. Honestly keep on doing you because your personality shines through ya content and so is your passion for story dissection/review. I think individual arks would be fun but only if you find enjoyment out of it man. If I may, maybe focus on Seinen series like Kingdom, Blade of the immortal, 20th century boys, etc. Cheers to the good video and keep on with great content!

While I do understand the purpose of the farming arc it can be *Very* difficult to read through.
With that being said the *real* purpose of it is to show the contrast between Musashi and Kojiro.
Kojiro is currently going through an act where he has to put down his sword in order to learn more about life and do things like communicate with people, learn manners and how to write better but unlike Musashi Kojiro fails this test.
Instead of accepting things the way they are and learning from it Kojiro acts childishly bored and
*Just* *Wants* *to* *Get* *Back* *to* *the* *fighting*
Read that last sentence again. The farming arc in a lot of ways is the artists critique of his own audience who just want action. Vagabond isn't that kind of manga. And again while I do understand the farming art it's very difficult to read about a man essentially just working on a farm.
Reading the farming arc is kind of like watching the movie House that Jack built. While it is amazing on a technical level and I'm glad I watched it once it's painful to get through and I likely won't read it again.
Then again my views on other characters like Matachi have changed over time so you never know
