Yukon Yohan is on the loose and only our Canadian hero, Bounty Bob, can save us! Watch the next installments into The Jeff Gerstmann Hall of Fame, Miner 2049er and Bounty Bob Strikes Back!, as you run, jump, carefully jump, and time your jumps to succeed in this pair of stone cold classic platformers. appreciate you sharing the context of how these games fit into your life. it’s funny how meaningful they can be, especially the ones from our childhoods.

I've been running RUclips Vanced to let videos play with my phone locked or in the background of other apps and tasks (not paying for YT premium,) so having the unlisted YT links in the Patreon posts is godsend. I end up listening to most of these hall of fame episodes like a podcast while I'm working. Patreon allows for multitasking with videos but will not play when locked, so thanks again, Jeff, for helping me enjoy your shit from in my pocket and ON THE CLOCK 😎

I do premium so I don't get ads on the TV app and iPad, but its still cool of Jeff for looking out for folks that don't.

I love how when you jump down too far, you splat into a neat puddle with a hat. Great game!

Loved those games, also very similiar Mr Robot and his robot Factory (which included level editor).

It sounds like this game was transformative to you, the same way that the original Legend of Zelda was for me on nes. That is by far the biggest memory I ever have associated with video games. Never seeing a big open world like that. Pouring through the manual, looking at the illustrations and everything. It really blew my mind at the time

Hey-o big bro. Oof. What a rough job it was you got flooded out like that. It must have been especially difficult having the family separated amidst the most destabilising moments. Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable. We heal together.
p.s. Pouring out a baja blast, here, for your Channel F.

Reminds me of Frantic Freddie on the C64 which I think probably had as big of an impact on me as this did for you. The soundtrack to Frantic Freddie was amazing.

Frantic Freddie's soundtrack was indeed great and as a kid I didn't know any of the covered songs. This had the funny side effect that I started recognizing random old tunes when they were played on the radio.

Never played these as a kid; but Jumpman Jr was the first game I got for my C64, and I played the heck out of that one. The Jumpman/Bounty Bob games are certainly cut from the same cloth.

Yeah this game rules, I feel like Montezuma's Revenge is better tho. Back when I was a kid I didn't realize that Montezuma's Revenge also meant the poops

Play Spelunker HD you coward! But seriously, it's the closest thing to this style old-school game

Had the Apple II version of Miner II as a kid. Didn't care for it! Might be worth another try, although I don't think it had air control, and the levels were different to this version

I had an Atari 800XL and Bounty Bob was one of my favourites. Jeff, I am sure you also had Chuckie Egg? Lots of hours lost playing that one. When that Duck moved out of the cage (after level 9 I think), all hell broke loose!

This was one of my most formative games on the Commodore 64 (definitely used to do the graph paper level designing!) I never made it past 'Acid Rain' but never wanted to try it emulated in case it lost the nostalgic magic.

Miner 2049er is the first game my baby brain remembered seeing and interacting with. Glad to see it here, and on Atari 50!
