It's time to check in on the MiSTer, a wonderful FPGA-based device that plays everything from Pac-Man to PlayStation! We also end up checking out the ZX Spectrum version of Pit-Fighter, which is truly a sight to be seen. Also, hey... Congo Bongo!

@@steve43ful thanks, you're totally right
Most dads - "Where's the remote control?!?"
Jeff Gerstmann - "Where's my Congo Bongo controller?!?"
Jeff this was one of your best videos yet! Please please PLEASE do more retro style videos bro. Us old heads know what time it is. Modern games suck. It's all about classic games baby!
I cannot hear a word you are saying.
The audio levels of the games are pretty inconsistent. Often VERY loud.
I like how he just side shuffles out of the way when you get to him, why would a gorilla be afraid of a MAN
Just ate a mozzarella stick that had no cheese in it and was feeling like a chump since I had saved that one for last. I got Congo Bongo'd.
Invite Ashens to guide you through the world of the Spectrum. He's a cool bloke with a love for old games, knowledge of old hardware, and a lot of ZX Spectrum experience from his youth, if I recall.
Jeff I could watch you play old games forever man. Ever think of getting some devs of these games on while playing them? I bet you have the clout to make it happen! It would be so cool
Space Harrier 2 is an underwhelming game but those voices on the ZX Spectrum deserve a helluva lotta love baby!
I uhh.. I say this as someone with some hearing damage: You might be going deaf. It is VERY loud, like I can tell my ears are hanging on for dear life.
That Pit Fighter port on the Spectrum was practically a Tiger handheld game
the random pitch shifting on the bullets you fire in Bosconian is really cool.
Yeah! I got to "hang out" with big brother Jeff for nearly two hours today! Might have to play some some of theses games while I watch too, instead of just chores. All work and no play make zero a dull Game Boi.
Full hearts, lazer sword, can't loose!

1:24:15 Look how they massacred my boy....
Holy hell, the cacophony that is Mr. Do!
honently i love the outrun series and super hang on
congo bongo is fuckin lit
I think I would take Kasumi Ninja on jaguar, over Street Fighter the movie
My memory of Outrun will always be the machine they had at the local swimming pool. You'd go to play it when still wet from swimming and if you touched the screw at the center of the wheel it'd tingle. I hesitate to call it a shock, it wasn't painful, but there was some current there.
Never thought the game was all that great, but I sure did like touching that screw as a child. Oh, and before anyone panics about wet children sitting in the machine it was one of the stand up cabinets.
Man, I'm pretty sure they used that version of Pitfall 2 at guantanamo.
omg I didn't realize you have your own channel now. Its all I've ever wanted...
That Z80 Spectrum pit fighter song slapped. So good
thanks for turning down mr do 👴
From the UK and Spectrum was awesome. I think all the European born personal computers had better sound hardware, I guess we had a preference for audio over graphical quality back then. We genuinely were always behind the US back in the 80s and 90s. We would see things in magazines or maybe the odd import and have to wait years for it to make its way over properly.
As a CPC kid, I always thought the Spectrum's colour palette was a terrifying prospect.
Jeff multiplayer with guests??
I think my favorite Genesis sound/soundtrack is probably from Shadowrun. It's so grimy and nasty sounding, everything filthy cyberpunk should sound like. I love it.
"I give my controller to you, Jeffe"
the music in Pit Fighter on the Spectrum sounds raw, like an LSDJ banger played through enormous blown out speakers or something. I should be watching a glass vibrate across a table listening to that
Oh hell yeah. Great stream!
The pitfall II music is a crime.
I'd pay good money for a new VF installment that has an option where Jeff does the character voice over.
I love this music
𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔪𝔬𝔰𝔪
everything is always terrible
yeah
Jeff the amount of ads you have on your videos is a little absurd.
Am I first? Love you jeff❤
When I told people I finally got a MisTer everyone thought I meant I finally got a boyfriend... 🥲
But no... much much cooler
Can't find a bloody de10 nano here in the UK, want to try the Amiga and Atari st cores with retro music software, still got 100s of floppies.
