I have a lot of fond memories of Road Rash 64, especially once you get the late game bikes that hit 300+ speed units. Hit someone at those speeds and you get to watch your character launch two miles through the air.
Road Rash 64 is such a weird entry for the series. All of the racers gravitate toward an invisible bubble, which made it feel more like a fighting game than a racing game. It made the racing part frustrating because you were always a fraction of a second away from other racers.
I used to play the arcade version of After Burner Climax in an arcade in William Regal’s Blackpool. As of three years ago, it was still there. It ruled.
Retroachievements is pretty amazing actually. Nice to have a new incentive to play my emulator games instead of just looking at the box art in launchbox.
oh man, I played so much Totaly Rad! as a kid... before I understood that games could just be 'bad' I could never get past the sewers area. game had some neat ideas at least.
I worked at an arcade that was *mostly* garbage ticket games, a couple mediocre gun games, and apparently one of the better DDR versions. However, one day I came in and they had jammed in an After Burner: Climax machine that had a rotating seat (not a full spin cockpit, but still.) I was actually blown away how fucking fun it was. I never played the other games in the series but it was so refreshing to have a good fucking game in the arcade amidst a deluge of diet gambling.
Yep, struggling with keyboard mappings on a CPC emulator seems familiar. Although it's mainly my fault for keeping the default retroarch hotkeys. If I have a controller hooked up, I can bring up a virtual keyboard pressing one of the shoulder buttons, if I remember rightly.
Wow I did not know Full on the Mouth was on the Road Rash 64 soundtrack. Band from Flint, MI I saw at a local fair, liked their music and thought they would take off. Boy was I wrong on both accounts.
I remember playing Outrun like once in an arcade and once at a relative's place. Didn't think it was all that great. But Outrun 2 and the tweaked version were pretty fun. I just treated them like Ridge Racer and chained endless drifts.
A few years ago, Jeff played (and completed) an older game from what I'd guess was the 80s, but it was a sort of "vehicle RPG" where you explore a world, trying to gather upgrades for your car. Anybody know the name of that one, and if it's got retro-achievements? I don't know why, but I think about that game a couple times a year.
So I had After Burner Climax on 360 but have since lost access to the account I purchased it on. Is there any way to buy this game since it was delisted??
Okay Jeff is time to start calling in the big guests. Let's get DankPods in here on a live call so we can get the full Drummer Recommended Audiophile solution for you. I cannot tolerate my Jeff having jaw pain. That is cornerstone to the platform. ♡♡
The first Road Rash game was really rad to me. I love the art in that game. Is Frogger 97' on the PS good? I remember it being good but I was also a toddler lmao but reviews seem mixed so idk
I used you have those exact only headphones when I did was bought some airplane pilot headphone pad Which all liquid gel inside Comfortable no pressure I am really good isolation
It looks like PS2 space harrier was made by tamsoft, creators of complete garbage unless you happen to really like the toshinden games which I really can't fault you for
imagine how rich Jess would have been if he had put some money into bitcoin instead of buying all those terrible 360 games to get achievement points back in the 2010s lololol
I'm addicted to these kinds of old games streams Jeff does, they calm me down.
Love every single time this man goes live like you wouldn't believe.
Jeff's love for Mr Do warms the cockles of this old man's heart.

Outurn 2 is a perfect video game. I wish Sega would make the online arcade version available again.
I can literally watch Jeff play retro games all day, it's like the comfiest way to spend the evening.

Finally got the dry wall set up. Now, we'll pop a Zoa and "enjoy our gaming"!

Jeff playing the masterpiece that is Road Rash 64; this is the quality content I come here for. Damn you Big Jim!
I vividly remember the first time I saw Jeff Gerstmann.
was it 6 hours ago?
36:34 for unbridled enthusiasm and bliss
Retroachievements is pretty amazing actually. Nice to have a new incentive to play my emulator games instead of just looking at the box art in launchbox.
That Totally Rad music brought back a lot of memories. I didn't know anyone else that played it, but I put a ton of time into that game as a kid.
Just want to say, i love these old game streams. Thanks Jeff!
Jeff playing OutRun 2 and chooses Magical Sound Shower? My poor heart can't handle this much love
That corner is looking fine and dandy, Jeff. Hope you had a good 4th!
You had me at Out Run 2... also they NEED to bring Afterburner Climax to new hardware. I LOOOVED that game on XBLA.
If you haven't seen it, check out Buck Up and Drive. It's a bizarre Outrun+thps+street fighter game that's rad as heck.
@@AquaShibby3000 I will check that out once I’m home, that sounds amazing! Thank you
I missed Afterburner, cause my 360 was broken at the time.
Swig of ZOA for the working man?
Wow those encoder settings are really put to the test with After Burner
I stan Outrun 2006 and Outrun Online Arcade. Good playing, Jeff!
Happy Easter, Jeff Gerstmann Show
oh man, I played so much Totaly Rad! as a kid... before I understood that games could just be 'bad' I could never get past the sewers area. game had some neat ideas at least.
for the first stage I'd always turn into the blue monster and just fly past the entire thing.

Why does PS1 Frogger have such a banging soundtrack
Wind tape warning gives me PTSD of the Vic20

Jeff Gerstmann is the streamer we need, but don't deserve!
That last Afterburner looks rad.

Do you mean Action Biker for the Commodore 64?
@@JeffGerstmannShow That was it!

I prefer my walls x-rated
I feel kinda bad I completely forgot After Burner: Climax. It's pretty good.
Road rash 64 is my favorite road rash. So glad you played this
where was Jeff playing After Burner: Climax?
I had no idea Paul Rykert recorded a Dig Dug tip video.
Those after burner spins look Hella cool.
So I had After Burner Climax on 360 but have since lost access to the account I purchased it on. Is there any way to buy this game since it was delisted??
Mr. Do Not Resuscitate
Is Road Rash 64 the version with Kid Rock? All I remember is he had a song where one of the lyrics was "I'm the Top Dog or the Pot God".
39:23 "I have a, I have a stuffed 'pookah' upstairs.. if you know what I mean.."
Hey Jeff just wondered if you ever played Skullduggery? As a kid on my Atari ST that is the version of these ‘dug’ games I played the most…

I used you have those exact only headphones when I did was bought some airplane pilot headphone pad Which all liquid gel inside Comfortable no pressure I am really good isolation
Seizure warning from 2:01:00 to 2:06:00. Plane blows up and flashes screen couple times in that time frame.
Mr. Do reminds me of Digger
The Jeff Gerstmann train stops for no one.
Dig Dug 2 looks pretty cool
Mr. DO!
They need to rerelease Afterburner Climax and call it Top Gun: Maverick! Wasn't mit 2011, when Climax was released?
Does anyone know what headphones he bought?
Old is gold.
Pump Button

Yo Jeff I got mad love for you, but Mr. D ain't nothing compared to Dig Dug.
