- I go in search of the tricky to catch but special carp which inhabit the London docklands, and find my quarry. As soon as I land the fish however, a local lady comes out of nowhere and begins having a go at me for fishing in her waters, while throwing a load of insults as she goes crazy. Due to her outburst, my two "friends" which took part in the event were seemingly intimidated and sided against me, without doing the honours of even taking a picture...

I like when people that don't fish tell you the rules and laws. When I'm out fishing I always carry my states hand book. Whenever someone starts making up rules I just hand them the book and ask them to point it out for my future reference. They never do. I caught a 32 inch Carp from a park pond one time and everyone came up to look at it. They flipped out and started telling me I better throw it back and that I was hurting it. So I told them I planned to throw it back from the start but if you guys don't shut up while I'm trying to get some pics with it, I'm going out to my car and getting my hack saw and I'm turning it into catfish bait. (carp are so common in my state there is no bag limit and make good catfish and gar bait).

I live in Groningen in the Netherlands and I always see people fishing, all ages, always as I walk by the rivers and canals, I find it so strange that people have a problem with a couple of lads fishing. Best of luck on your next fishing trip!

I still to this day can't understand why you feel the need to break the law to catch a carp get out on a big gravel pit and test your skills catching a bigger stamp of fish of fish a stretch of river that is permitted for fishing. The lady is clearly frustrated because this is happening over and over again she's probably put a lot of money into buying a property in a nice area and doesn't want groups of men hanging around outside her property when she clearly knows the rules state other wise.
Have some respect the guy hiding behind the camera is clearly not grown up enough to understand the reason why it would bother others around the area...
Real fishermen have respect of those around them and would appreciate that the area and fish are out of bounds for fishing..

omg i was in us army in late 80s stationed in germany and same thing happened to me but the police came and told the guy and his wife i was not doing any thing wrong i had a fishing licence and the cop told her it was a public place and i was aloud to to fish there ! then the lady started yelling at the cop lmfao in usa there are so many place to fish this never happens unless you are on some one property without permision great vid guys

Same as the canal, even if there were any signs, unless they were genuine EA signs, no one can tell us not to fish there because we hold the licenses supplied by the actual owner of the water, Thames Water.

The irony is those canals were lifeless sewers when I was a kid, and the complaints of anyone unfortunate enough to live in the proximity would not have been taken seriously. Now the area has been gentrified and the middle classes have moved in, people have begun to care about the fish.
I don't agree with fishing in areas it's not permitted, or winding up the locals, but the entitlement of privilege is nauseating.

To be honest that area looks residential and would not surprise me that a no fishing rule applies. Did you check? A licence does not allow you to fish private area's.

Well the fact is that there are areas where fishing is forbidden, no matter if you releasing the fish back, it still is fishing... For example in my country you need to own local license so you can go fishing in the area and there are rules. For example in my town there are two lakes right next to each other. In one you can go fishing if you have a local license, in the other, you cannot go fishing because it is simply forbidden. If you are fishing there anyway, and police catch you, you can get ticket up to $2000...

You would love to join me in my golf course pond hopping. They do not like it when they gold and see me fishing. The funny part is I pay at the pro shop usuelly $5 and they let me fish but these asses have chased me with clubs. i had some probs with the odd person here in oz, so what my mate and i started doing was to measure the fish, take a photo of them on the measure, weigh them and write down in a booklet all that including date, time, gps coords, tidal phase (if in tidal waters) rig n bait used, weather conditions etc...basically everything for scientific research. We found that pretty much silences ppl like that woman when they realise not only are you doing it recreationally but also for research and say that at the end of each month that you send all that data to fisheries and whoever else. Apart from that, ya actually build up a very good repore with all the authorities. I even had a list of all species the authorities were themselves targeting and would get tags from them for free and we would tag all the fish on the list and then some, and would add those details into the booklet i made up. It might seem like a paqin in the bum to do all that but it does work and even i learnt a helluva lot. Oh, and i also always had with me a copy of all the relevant laws etc
