Currently own a 1.9 TDI version of the Octavia, 2007 plate. Absolutely brilliant cars. It's 2019 now and it's passed the last 3 MOTs without so much as a recommendation beyond a new set of tyres. I also still get 60-65 mpg out of it!

@@lazycarper Never an electrical problem, no. And yes, I am certain, I've been driving it for 5 years now and it gets ~45mpg around town and 60+mpg out on the main roads.
@@Haze1434 any negative points on your car, im thinking of getting one, i would like a 1.6 but cant aford the extra 2k for the 1.6 tdi so will also get the 1.9 tdi

If there's a better all-rounder than the Octavia, then I'd love to know what it is: oodles of leg-room, huge boot, decent performance, hugs the road nicely, and good fuel economy. I disagree about the road noise, but that's subjective. It's definitely got what it takes, and ticks loads of boxes. What's not to like?

here.s how: i pick a car for USE not lookling! and second, i'm paying for a CAR, not a brand, if i get a Skoda and not a VW i get more for less money!
and it looks like a car, not like weird concept car that descended from some other planet! and believe me, that conservative look has a great following.
it being used for taxi and police work also means it's BIG, rugged and reliable - and i value that in a car!
and Skoda had least break-downs per 100 cars of all brands under VW hat - a fact.
Probably one of the best cars around.

I doubt than there's rivals for Skoda Octavia in it's secment, because is elegant, big, pretty good fuel engine consume, huge boots space, a lots of compartments, and hard as iron

All I have to do here is "spec" it carefully - enough said!.
Interior is better then those japanese and koreancars. Honda and Kia make their car looks like spaceships too much chrome and titanium its so ugly. Im glad Skoda keeps the oldskool alive :D If i must buy a new car right now it would be a Skoda octavia for sure!!

The car in question is a solid car with good equipment for the money, looks wise its no looker but then again its not bad looking either and to me it doesnt look like 90's GTA

Try owning one before you pass judgement, mate. Some of us are more concerned about what you get for your buck than what it looks like, and if you can find a more practical car than the Octavia, I'd like to know what it is.
Tell it to the million taxi drivers not to mention private owners who swear by them. Totally disagree with you about it’s looks. It’s a smart, mature, solid looking car, and not designed by a 20 year old to look like a spaceship on tyres.
