That DSG gearbox is expensive when it breaks. Mine did not long after the warranty expired. It’s a known problem: the mechatronic unit can’t withstand extreme temperatures and a Bradford cold spell put paid to it. VW group weren’t interested. I drive Hondas now.
This statement may be a hostage to fortune. My 1.4 TSI 122 bhp Octavia is just coming up to its 15th birthday and has done 116,000 miles. It has never given me any problems. I suppose I bought it, because it did sit in that gap between the Focus-class and the Mondeo-class. A friend bought a VW Golf with the same engine in the same month; as stated in the video, the VW cost about £2,000 more and has a much smaller boot. I wouldn't classify myself as an inverted snob but I don't like spending money unnecessarily. The fact that the local police force had the Octavia as their main car also gave an extra bit of confidence.
I have Octavia 2006 van whit Dsg for now almost 2 years and until now i never had any serious problem.Great car for quality and price that in this days you dont find.
yep this guy says this on all the reviews of vws skodas cars, avoid the 1.9 😂😂😂 its the only engine to go for,, its only downside is you need to give it a service at 300k miles
@MrDelgrigorov thanks for the reply i know they make 1.4 tsi but the questions irrelevant now as i bought the 1.6 mpi days after i wrote that comment lol

Just had the MOT done on my 2010 1.9TDi Octavia and flew through with no issues. Best car I've ever owned!

The mk 3 2014-20 is less noisy.
Yes and yes. This car is a tank.
Make oilstrainer in the carte Clean. If not your engine wil be distroyed.
Is there much difference performance wise with the 1.6 tsi compared to the 1.6 mpi SE??
There isn't any 1.6 TSI engine.
