Owned the 619 for about 20 years now. It's been a really great saw for the price, but as you've probably found out by now, the fence (outof square) and locking mechanism aren't the greatest.
After watching your video it inspired me to strip my 1619 down and give it a good once over (plus new motor bearings as they were shagged) there is actually quite alot of adjustment in the blade alignment... the two aluminium blocks that the whole mechanism hangs on have elongated holes and allow for around 3 - 4 mm side to side front and back.... only problem is the nuts on the bottom are not captive so as soon as you loosen the bolt you cant tighten it up again without a spanner on the nut underneath. Also I had no idea about the fence on the sliding carriage as mine never had it when i got it...
John, this has been great, thanks. I now need to completely strip mine to the bones for various reasons, any wisdom/pointers on how to approach this? Andrew
Brilliant instructive video, I have a couple of questions, my Kity 0618 although old is a great saw, it came without a rip fence, I'm struggling to find one, any suggestions? also I cannot lower the blade fully, it gets to around 25mm and won't go any lower, any idea how to fix this ? cheers
Hi John, Really enjoyed the video - I'm rebuilding an old Kity 618 - the main saw looks identical to the 619 but with a better fence, the sled is different as is the carriage. I've a few points where I'd appreciate your thoughts - getting the blade aligned with the mitre slot - as you say, not an easy adjustment. How did you manage it? I'm a little nervous about just taking a mallet to it.. Also, my sled came from a different saw and looks like it's been outside for years and possibly once in a fire :) I can replace the bearings thanks to your video and hopefully can make a replacement nylon guide on my lathe - fortunately, one survived to act as a model. However, I'm missing the sled fence but pics of the original look very similar to that on the 619. Did you manage to source a replacement for yours? I haven't had much luck yet. Finally, the mitre slot is non standard. Have you been able to source aluminum/adjustable runners? I'm using shop cut hardwood ATM. Cheers, Oisin..
Fantastic video. This saw is amazing and we thank you for providing information and advice about this saw I have a question what are the maximum cutting dimensions on this saw on the right side and on the left? Please
Thanks for this video, loved it. A Kity 619 has come my way for about £300, I might jump on it! I would love a basic video on how to utilize the sliding table the most. Most table saw how-tos are from the US where they seldom have the euro style sliding table. Thanks!
@John McGrath I have just found your channel because of these videos. May I ask 2 years later do you still have the kity 619, would you recommend it? I am a in a position to buy a better table saw the the evolution one I have but won’t ever happen again for a long long time. A kity has come up near me or I can add a little too and get a Charnwood saw. So would you share any thoughts please? Really appreciate it!
Hey! I really need some advice :D Got myself a Kity 1619 in March, have restored/cleaned and replaced a few bits but hit some struggles when I found the blade and slots don't line up. The two T slots on the main table are bang on parallel, but in relation to the blade were off. I have so far tried all I can and can't seem to get it to "jiggle" around. I have actually had the table fully off, as i hoped id get a bit of wiggle room there, as well as trying to adjust via the aluminium blocks that attach at each end. No joy and it is driving me up the wall :( I am now debating taking the entire motor off to make it lighter so I can maybe get more success. Any tips or help would be amazing!
Regarding the fence, you can actually adjust the rails it runs on :) I found I could undo the bolts and move the guide, while the fence was locked. That way it aligned perfectly.
Really useful video having just had one and not knowing how to do basic things. I have one question how is the extension table on the back of the saw fitted? Thank you. Andrew
Hi John, Thanks for you video which is very clear. I have just acquired a KITY 619. Bit ancient but works well apart from one problem. The mechanism for raising or lowering the blade is very stiff. The mechanism for the blade tilt was also stiff, but is easy to access and I have greased the long worm screw and it now moves well. The problem is how to access and grease the long worm screw on the raiser. I just cannot for the life of me find an easy way to get to it without doing a lot a dismantling. I have cleaned and lightly greased the long guide rods but that did not help. Any suggestions??
Hi there. I loved the explanation as I have just inherited one so many thank. One question. Inside the machine there is flap about 350mm long, that has some foam. The flap closes with a spring. This is close to the Blade area. I notice mine does not close fully. I am assuming the spring may be tired. There is only oine spring though there is a hole for another spring at the other end. Do you know anything about this and do you know the reason for the flap. Thank you. John
The flap closes off the area outside where the blade rotates so the air from the dust extraction is pulling down around the blade. There should be a spring on both ends.
I have exactly the same machine and my blade goes constantly out of alignment. Those hinges are a pain to align and are not sturdy enough...I'm so disappointed. Do you have any tip to secure the blade in alignment?
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed I've heard 1800€ for the scheppach 3.0 . Someone is selling me one ( build in 2011 ) for 700e too. So it's not a bad price i suppose

No problem glad it helped you out.

Hi Nigel I no longer have my 619 so can't help you, there is links to the manual in the video description that may be of some use.
Did you get anywhere with that Nigel?

sorry I don't, I no longer have the saw.
Thanks brilliant video👍. I have the same saw 230v 13amp but it is really down on power. Any ideas what the problem could be? Blade is almost new.
Could be a motor issue but hard to know for sure without seeing it
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed ok thanks for the reply.
Are these combi any good John, have 2000 at work sitting in corner of mechanical workshop rusting away
They are not bad once you fix them up, if the fence is good that's a big help.
Great video!
Very useful video cheers John
Thanks 👍
What made you part with the saw?
Lack of use mostly.
Kity is owned by scheppach now...you get all spare parts from them
How much does this one cost ?
I bought it used for €700 not sure what they cost when new .
