@@Vulpes_Shinbi to be honest, I don’t know. They just haven’t evolved with the new generation. That game helped make the PS2 as great as it was and there's definitely still a market for a Burnout-like game out here.

@P_D-px6iv that's probably the most depressing thing about modern EA. The name doesn't carry the same meaning anymore without the OG guys at the controls...
I'm playing this with a friend of mine online, it's pretty fun! I like when it puts us on opposite teams. Though I find the track designs pretty bland and the singleplayer is boring as hell.

@@HonduranMegatronor burnout 6, i guess. "4" was revenge and "5" was paradise. Small detail, yeah, but my correcting ass won't let me not post this comment.
For Split second, clips show you were driving the heavier cars which are harder to enter drifts with. Many of the other cars you unlock are less grippy and are easier to enter a drift just by steering hard without even going off the gas, which is another way to enter drifts. (Fun fact, you could always enter drifts like this in most "brake to drift" nfs games just as much as tapping your handbrake so idk what the fuss was about with the community honestly.) Motorstorm apocalypse is goated. You didn't include the detail where driving through flames, getting hit with bullets, explosives, or molotovs raise the engine temperature. I feel bad for not giving ridge racer unbounded a chance. It may have some issues, but for the most part, it's solid. I think many were put off by a lot of the on screen text being too big and in our faces that often.

As a huge Burnout fan, I recommend: Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit/High Stakes Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 Need For Speed Hot Pursuit/Remastered (2010/2020) Need For Speed The Run
@@NoMooreMercyTV considering criterion made nfs hot persuit 2010 you should do a review on it and its sequel nfs rivals too. i am a fan of both nfs and burnout but hearing what a burnout only fan has to say sounds really interesting(its kinda like how nfs mw 2012 is hated by nfs fans because it being nothing like the 2005 original while it is pretty solid from a burnout fan perspective).
Hey Mercy, Mat from Story Thus Far here - love the video, was amazing and definitely lifted me up and got me inspired to try out some of these clones, especially the Motorstorm series. Have a good one, and as always, see you in the game!
That would take incredibly looooong, I'm thinking of doing some one-off videos on the bigger games that made an impact like MW2005, Underground 1 & 2, etc. They deserve to be covered exclusively and more in-depth than I do with these types of videos. I want to do them justice.
After buying nfs most wanted (2012) for like a dollar on a steam sale, I recently realized or remembered it was just a water downed Burnout paradise game, but I can definitely say it's damage models are way better than it should be for today's standard on Brand name car models. They barely let you get a dent in on the cars these days. Plus, the game over all once you grew out of the (it's not as good as the original most wanted by a long shot) it's pretty fun for what it is. And the intros to the races are a lot cooler than I remember. Some are like acid trips at times.
Not just "these days". Look at Gran Turismo. Always loved the games, but yeah as soon as you go for realism, car manufacturers become VERY skittish about car damage, especially showing internals
@@ablationerI've never understood this. They know what their cars look like wrecked; they test the damn things. I don't think how much they understand that damage from crashing adds to the immersion.
Need for speed most wanted was actually going to be a sequel to the 2005 one with a whole story line and things like that but because EA did not want the game release to be delayed and wanted the money aswell as burnout paradise being made by criterion and so was nfs most wanted 2012, the game also had customization and garages but because of EAs greed we were never actually able to see the full potential of the game
The nostalgia hit me like a freight train. I'd pay insane amounts of money for a remastered Motorstorm game. I remember going to GameStop to buy Motorstorm: Apocalypse. I played that and Most Wanted 2012 on my old PlayStation 3, and played Split Second on my old Xbox One. Nowadays, I'm busy playing NFS Unbound and FH5 on my Series X. Crazy how time flies like that.
This comment will probably get lost but THE BEST BURNOUT CLONE was "ONRUSH" made by codemasters and published by EA. The best way I can describe it is "BURNOUT meets OVERWATCH" You race on 2 teams of 8 players (if I'm not mistaken) and there were 10 different chassis, each with different abilities, you didn't race to finish a lap faster than the other, but to beat the opponent team score, and the only way to earn score was to boost like in the BURNOUT series (at least in the main mode)
It featured crash cams, and traffic checks like in burnout revenge, it was VERY FUN and MASSIVELY UNDERRATED. It was eventually pulled out of marketplaces because of its lack of revenue (microtransactions imposed by EA) but it had GREAT POTENTIAL
I absolutely loved this game! I just wished the multiplayer was super active. I don't know if the servers are still up. But singleplayer was still intense and fun
I'll be waiting for I played every "Need For Speed Title" soon. If you want the crash cameras and high adrenaline racing, Hot Pursuit 2010 is the game, especially the cop campaign. Still one of my favourite games to this day (great cars, great atmosphere, amazing soundtrack), even though people hate on it (and in general on criterion titles) because "hurr durr where me visjul tunnink, where me japaniz tunrs hurr"
Playing every Need For Speed is the ultimate goal! Buuuut there's like, 20+ games in that series. Maybe in a few years I'll tackle it haha. I enjoy HP 2010, I've been playing the remaster online with a friend of mine. I just find the track layouts to be pretty boring and the singleplayer is kinda ehhhh. I like the cop campaign a lot, not so much the racer one.
@@NoMooreMercyTV For the racer campaign, hot pursuits and gauntlets are great. Races themselves are fine, but you do end up finding yourself first place in the first minutes of the race, and then it mostly becomes a matter of avoiding traffic, blocking any racer from overtaking and enjoying the music
@@NoMooreMercyTV plus if you play it you might bring accidentaly in the MW05 fanboys and the NFS Unbound fanboys wich are quite a toxic and disgusting side of the NFS community
Dangerous Driving was ridiculously easy, but as someone who grew up on Burnout, it definitely satisfied the nostalgia of missing the old school arcade burnout vibes. However yeah youre right on everything. I hope Wreckreation will be much better. I also recommend the dual-stick racing game "Inertial Drift" if you like indie racing games with beautiful scenery and tight turns
Split Second is definitely up on the list of my personal favorite racing games. I'm been into the Ridge Racer series since, I believe the N3DS game, and while I haven't played Unbounded yet, it does looks like fun.
It was crazy to me that NFS:MW2012 would let you swap out parts mid race while driving through the easy drive menu. I remember perfecting the ability to navigate the menu to swap between short and long gears for the transmission. Being able to swap it out on the fly allowed you to have insane acceleration with short gears in turn heavy races and then have your maximum top speed in the straights
Somehow you’ve managed to escape playing all the need for speed games that were uniquely “NFS” feeling lol. After 2010 EA shuffled studios around, and Criterion went straight from Burnout to the Hot Pursuit reboot, alternating with Spightly Mad (studio that went on to make the PCARS sim games), and then they enlisted Ghost games to try and emulate the criterion feel. EA black box became the lead studio starting with Underground 1, and made all the following games up to Undercover in 2008, each their own somewhat unique sets of physics. No brake to drift, it was grippy, but the environment and drivetrain layouts had consequences depending on how and where you drove. The underground segment you could initiate and maintain drifts with a semblance of real-world throttle and steering control, and MW/Carbon had understeer and high speed consequences. I don’t think there’s been many (if any) arcade/simcade racing games in over 10 years that do anything other than the “brake to drift” type feel that burnout made a staple in the genre, you should really check out those NFS games from ~2000-2007.
I personally love MW 2012 seeing as how I owned it on 4 different consoles and its a huge part of my childhood. that being said i feel like its overhated by the general nfs community lmao. Its a really fun game if you ignore the title and think of it as just nfs burnout
@@IanRB26 Yeah exactly. Calling it Most Wanted gave us a hope that it would be a remaster of the game we all remembered and loved. Instead it was just Burnout with licensed cars and less destruction than Burnout, so it was more or less not Need for speed or Burnout but something completely different imo. It disappointed me when it came out and I uninstalled it after a few hours and never looked back, and never will. And I love the Burnout series and the early NFS.
@@xDecibelx I think it was supposed to be Most Wanted 2. But they scrapped the concept but still kept the name and somewhat similar premise. Personally I think it gets overhated just because of the name. It's a good game in its own right.
I remember being fascinated with Motorstorm Apocalypse when I first learned about it. It felt like the limo scene from 2012 turned into a whole game. I never looked into Ridge Racer Unbounded before but it sure looks awesome. The track editor alone really sold me on the game 😮 Those would be my picks, definitely.
I feel like FlatOut 2 could be considered a Burnout-Like game, since both games are centered around destruction races, with FO2 having a bigger emphasis on it's physics and fleshing out your opponents.
@NoMooreMercyTV I think I got it from gamestop just cause of the cover. No regrets. Played it after Split/Second and enjoyed it way more. The steering made more sense and you saying you were smiling even when you crashed describes it well
I'm shocked you didn't include Flat Out in this vid. You might have to make a follow-up (or non-related) video on Flat-Out, Blur, Full Auto, and OnRush.
@@NoMooreMercyTV They had the Ridge Racer Unbounded with some DLC for £2.90 ish, so after looking at your Steam comment and your link the video, I thought, 'Why not ?' So thanks for the review !

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (2010) is the precursor to Most Wanted (2012). It's more of a "Burnout 3 with licenced cars" over MW2012's Paradise vibe, but it should be worth a consider too.
I've been playing it a little bit, it can be pretty fun online with a few friends. I don't really care for the track layouts, I think they have the same problem that Dangerous Driving has. Lack of distinct locales, it's all just rural winding roads. I've also been playing Unbound's hot pursuit mode, really fun actually! Just wish the handling was different, every car I've used so far has been really understeery.
@@AkiRalcolfEh, it can be a *bit* clunky. Framerate isn't exactly consistent and the control scheme isn't exactly ideal. But yeah, it is decently fun.
If you love burnout but want real licensed cars most wanted is the game. I recently got the airport DLC and it’s so much fun watching cop crashing into other racers
I totally forgot about Ridge Racer Unbounded. When i was little we had this game on ps3. If i remember correctly my cousins gave it to us and man it brought memories. We don't have the game anymore but i hope to be able to play it someday.
You should check out crash and burn on the ps2. It's kinda like burnout just minus the takedowns. It makes up for that though by having 16 cars or so cars race at once. No one talks about this game and I don't know why. It is a masterpiece. A must play for any burnout fan.
So the thing with Split/Second is that it has an adaptive difficulty system The more you win, the faster the opponents will get and the stronger the rubberband gets
From my understanding Dangerous driving was made on an insanely low budget by like a handful of people who left Cryterion. Making the graphics stylised rather than high fidelity would have been the better move and agree with the music. I think the hope was to find more money based on this for the sequel.
Three Fields Entertainment the development studio behind Danger Zone and Dangerous Driving is made-up of ex-criterion veterans and was founded by the original founders and directors of Criterion including Alex Ward and Fionna Sperry
@sloppynyuszi oh yeah from my understanding they don't even have AA level funding They're practically a "premium" indie studio at this point Compared to working with EA where they likely had a small AAA budget I'd think of it like imagine being a developer and going from making a game on UE5 to making a game on Unity lol
@@P_D-px6iv well unreal is free until you make money. The way Unity is these days unreal is probably for Indy developers. But I think now Godot has an influence. These days smaller developers just need to understand scope. Here it seems like they over aimed. Should have just tried to make a fun Switch game first and build on that. I hope they get another chance, as I really liked the original burn out series
I loved Split/Second's personality. Loved the little episode previews and would watch them over and over. Never got very far, maybe episode 4? The physics take a lot to get used to after a long break. RR: Unbounded is a lot of fun but i get why it didnt sell well. Its really nothing like a RR game and at least to me, feels like it lacks RR's identity. It's not uncommon for big publishes to slap a popular name on something just to sell it instead of making a new IP. Very common for BN to just abandon an IP anyway so its not surprising, Unbounded probably would've been the last RR game whether it sold well or not. I think its fair for people to say its not a RR game but I think its unfair to not even give it a chance. Especially now when it actively goes on sale for very cheap.
I had the demo for RR Unbounded that I would play on repeat for like a year straight. It was weird to learn that it was the black sheep of the franchise and was more similar to Burnout, which I've never played
Ridge Racer Unbounded used to have an online mode where you could do exactly what you want. All kinds of funny tracks and stuff were available back then. RIP RRU servers.
I understand the frustration for making takedowns but not having a camera to see the wreckage of your destruction. 7:07-7:47 I figured, one of the reason this happened was because the open world gameplay was an online run and in order for the game to be enjoyable, the racing had to be "uninterrupted" in order to continue the race without the slo-mo camera. If there were, the camera would pan back to the player and its an instant reaction to steer away from a potential crash ahead, given you were blind to move away. The crash camera was mainly a self-effect, not affecting the racers or the race. So those 7 seconds of crash cam resets the player. Same rules applied when in a chase, the crash delay is in effect but it is not in a crash cam mode.
@@NoMooreMercyTV Destruction Derby 1, 2, 64, Raw, Arenas, and spiritual successor Wreckfest, upcoming games Wreckreation and Wreckfest 2. It's the series that just won't die!
I did a Let's Play of Ridge Racer Unbounded a few months ago and had lots of fun with it but definitely stressed myself out going for 3-starring every event. That being said, having youtube automatically make every thumbnail say "DESTROY ___" was beautiful
I didn't find any of the events outside of the stunt ones I complained about in the video difficult to 3 star. I guess I've just been playing for that long lol.
Crash n Burn for the original xbox is also a game i would love to see revistited. It had so called kamikaze races. 10 people raced clockwise and 10 raced counterclockwise. It was so much chaos.
Well... Ridge racer was made by the guys who did the legendary Flatout, so it wasn't a surprise it looked the way it did. To this day Flatout is my favorite arcade title and i regularly switch these games, when i get tired of simracing. The ragdoll physics hold on so well even today.
There is one game that's flying under the radar that's somewhat of a clone - It's called Trail Out. I'd honestly say it's a love letter to ALL racing games of this era including burnout, Need For Speed, Flat Out, Split Second and even other games/movies like GTA, Carmegeddon, Fast and Furious, Drive, etc... It's wild but I genuinely had such a blast with it. It's some of the most fun i've had during this awfully long period of absence with no racing games to fill Burnouts void since 2013 essentially, apart from Wreckfest.
That's a fair assessment! I think the fact that it's still locked to Epic Games on PC and never goes on sale really sucks. $30 is too much for it still. I'd rather just play the old Burnout games again tbh.
You and I both missed out on NFS in our childhoods, and it's probably because we were too busy playing Burnout :) I started playing NFS Unbound, though, and I think you'd like it because you talk about games being stylized. It's got a cool visual identity.
Ridge Racer Unbounded looks really cool. It totally went under my radar at the time. Flatout 2 and Wreckfest are some other nice Burnout alternatives (the latter doesn't have a boost mechanic though).
I bought Dangerous Driving as soon as it popped up (I think on Epic) and assumed it was in early access, figuring that they'd add a soundtrack later in development. I guess they knew what a clunker they had on their hands and decided they'd never recoup the money spent on licensing any music (or getting any original music made). Such a shame that a promising B3 successor couldn't deliver on its potential.
2:30 I think you should at least check out Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2010. From what I've played and seen of it and the last 3 Burnout games, there's definitely some DNA there (to be expected, since it was also developed by Criterion), but aside from that, I just think it's a really good racing game overall and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Edit: Hell yeah, loving the Ridge Racer Unbounded appreciation. Game never got the love it deserved, and it's a shame that the multiplayer was shut down and nobody's even tried to bring it back.
I'm happy I found another RR Unbounded lover! It's a real shame it never took off, I was reading some reviews from back in the day and even they were having issues finding matches. Bummer!
Another game that could be considered to be based on Burnout. (But is also based on mario kart at the same time) is Jak X. The races are very Burnout inspired, with "combat" system based on Mario Kart. The game has you build up boost by getting pick ups, taking out other racers, drifting, and getting 1 second or more of air time. My only con for Jak X is the insane difficulty from the start until you understand the workings of the game, but it remains hella fun, and holds a story mode with characters from the first three Jak games, and some new characters. every character you race barring 3 random ass racers are unlockable.
I've heard lots of things about Jak X, but never really gave it the time of day. It's on my spreadsheet for a future video, thanks for the recommendation!
if you can even find a copy of Full Auto, it absolutely will scratch that "car damage" itch! such an underrated game i played wayyy too much of it when i was a kid!

Unbounded, really? That game is so frustrating to me. I can't believe the number of time I saw that big rwd dot pointing at at crash place and boosting wile lining my car to it just to see my boost end 1 second before I wreck my car to the wall...
you should try need for speed hot pursuit (2010) because it's also developed by Criterion and is where modern NFS peaked IMO. It also has takedowns and crashcams and felt a lot closer to a Burnout game than Most Wanted (2012) did for me.
I highly suggest Onrush, im not sure if the game is shutdown or anything but man that game is pure insanity when it comes to speed and takedown opportunity. a real show for speed and aggression with the idea of racing as a group to finish an objective.
@@NoMooreMercyTV I seen someone recently play it maybe 3 weeks ago so maybe you have mileage against bots. Its over-the-top carnage so give it a looksy.
Finally, a Chad Unbounded enjoyer. I'm also tired of seeing "Not Ridge Racer, therefore bad" comments repeatedly. To be frank, I found old-school Ridge Racer to be kind of dull. They basically only had one mode, and the drifting was very automated. Also, not that this means much nowadays, but Unbounded had a free-to-play alternative that was released into Early Access called Driftopia. That game was my introduction to the series. But after a year, it got shutdown, and the developers released a statement for everyone to play Unbounded. That was when I discovered that game. Unbounded and Hot Pursuit (2010) are my favorite Burnout clones. I still have to check out Most Wanted (2012).
I'm so happy to see so many Unbounded fans in the comments! The reviews also initially turned me off but I saw it on sale for $2 and figured, fuck it why not? And maaaaan I'm so glad I did! @raythepony I know a lot of the OG devs quit Criterion/EA after MW2012, maybe EA wanted the games to go a different direction? Not sure. Glad you enjoyed the game though!
In case of NFS, I came back to old games thinking "Yeah it's just nostlagia talking" but nope, Most Wanted from 2005 gave me more joy than Unbound and Heat. That game doesn't feel like huge mess and dunno why EA tries to make so complicated games what can be overhelming. Too much unnecessery stuff. MW2005 is short, you can beat it in one day without using exploits, but it's fun.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) was "Eh" with a Criterion Game. Which is a reboot. Dangerous Driving is a game who don't know what this game is: this game might be from the Burnout series, but they made a different burnout games. And Ridge Racer Unbounded is one of the most racing games that it's my favorite racing game that no one has ever played it before. In summary, these are my top 3 most epic racing games I've ever looked at in my life.
Dangerous Driving was made by former Burnout devs, but I just don't think they have the funding to be making games like this. Their next game is being funded by THQ, so hopefully it's good.
NFS Most Wanted 2012 was the first NFS game i played and finished. At the time i was not aware of the existence of the original Most Wanted. MW 2012 gets a lot of hate but I don't think it deserves it. It's still a beautiful game to this day and had it been given a different name i think it honestly would have had way more people give it a chance.
I can't believe how much hate it gets! I was shocked looking up reviews while making this video, I thought the majority would be positive at least. Oh well.
No Crash'n'Burn? The cover for the game is actually the reason I picked up Burnout Revenge (My intro to the franchise) because I confused the two... lol.
i remember playing ridge racer unbounded when i was younger on the xbox 360. and for whatever reason i loved putting the powerplants in the track editor and smashing through them and making the game lag lol
22:00 Split Second's rubber-band AI is bad, but the game's concept requires other vehicles to always be ahead of the player to force them to use power plays. Still annoying/funny to drop a tower on six cars and see them all blow past you five seconds later though. I'm playing this with a friend of mine online, it's pretty fun! I like when it puts us on opposite teams. Though I find the track designs pretty bland and the singleplayer is boring as hell.
Imo that's more burnout than MW2012, it feels more like 3 to dominator but mixed with the older classic NFS games

For Split second, clips show you were driving the heavier cars which are harder to enter drifts with. Many of the other cars you unlock are less grippy and are easier to enter a drift just by steering hard without even going off the gas, which is another way to enter drifts. (Fun fact, you could always enter drifts like this in most "brake to drift" nfs games just as much as tapping your handbrake so idk what the fuss was about with the community honestly.)
Motorstorm apocalypse is goated.
If you haven't played FlatOut 1, 2, Ultimate Carnage, or Wreckfest, definitely worth looking at those games. Heck, I would gove DiRT Showdown a try as well! :D

Amazing taste
You deserve so much more than 4K subs! I hope you keep making these style of videos. Both of the burnout videos are amazing!
Thank you!!
Hey Mercy, Mat from Story Thus Far here - love the video, was amazing and definitely lifted me up and got me inspired to try out some of these clones, especially the Motorstorm series. Have a good one, and as always, see you in the game!
See you in the game buddy! Don't forget your shark card!
I am 100% down with you doing a retrospective on all the Need for Speed games, like you did with Burnout.
It is crazy! How are you liking the new NFS Unbound update? As a casual, I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.
I've never heard of this game, ill check it out
I remember playing this game! Is it still playable offline? I'd love to give it the time of day.
Codemasters EVO was actually Evolution Studios, the creators of MotorStorm.

Burnout 3 Takedown was racing perfection. God damn I miss those days.
I hope Wrekreation is good too! Especially now that they have a big publisher funding them.

I'm been into the Ridge Racer series since, I believe the N3DS game, and while I haven't played Unbounded yet, it does looks like fun.
Gotta give it a shot! It's fun asf
Imma be honest, I didn't even try to do this because I didn't think it was possible. THAT IS INSANE!
Lmao yup, you're not the first or the last person to say this haha. I'm very excited to try them out for the first time!
hot pursuit is my favourite. Gives me a lot of burnout vibes, great soundtrack, great map and fun missions
I personally love MW 2012 seeing as how I owned it on 4 different consoles and its a huge part of my childhood. that being said i feel like its overhated by the general nfs community lmao. Its a really fun game if you ignore the title and think of it as just nfs burnout
I totally agree.
If it wasn't called Most Wanted it would be more fondly remembered. The engine sounds are still better than most games today.
7:24 I think it was like that because showing a licensed car getting totaled would land the publisher in hot water with the car manufacturers.
Calling Split Second a Burnout clone is like calling Minecraft an FPS and thats a good thing
My pick is Split/Second, as a non-Burnout player, I found it to be a ton of fun. Just silly, childish fun that speaks to the inner child in all of us

7:43 Funny enough. Some of the betas for MW2012 has the camera angles of Paradise when driving through gas stations.

So the thing with Split/Second is that it has an adaptive difficulty system
The more you win, the faster the opponents will get and the stronger the rubberband gets

From my understanding Dangerous driving was made on an insanely low budget by like a handful of people who left Cryterion. Making the graphics stylised rather than high fidelity would have been the better move and agree with the music. I think the hope was to find more money based on this for the sequel.

They're currently in the process of making "Wreckreation," and THQ Nordic is publishing it. I hope it's a more premium product this time around.
I got my copy for $2, I would've gladly paid 10-20 times that and still thought I got my money's worth. Just an absolute blast from start to finish.

Ridge Racer Unbounded used to have an online mode where you could do exactly what you want. All kinds of funny tracks and stuff were available back then. RIP RRU servers.
Sooooo jealous! RIP

Well... Ridge racer was made by the guys who did the legendary Flatout, so it wasn't a surprise it looked the way it did. To this day Flatout is my favorite arcade title and i regularly switch these games, when i get tired of simracing. The ragdoll physics hold on so well even today.
Bugbear are the GOATs of destruction derby type games.
I was completely happy with Dangerous Driving. Yeah its low budget but its probably the closest to a new Burnout game we will ever get.
That's a fair assessment! I think the fact that it's still locked to Epic Games on PC and never goes on sale really sucks. $30 is too much for it still. I'd rather just play the old Burnout games again tbh.
You and I both missed out on NFS in our childhoods, and it's probably because we were too busy playing Burnout :)
I started playing NFS Unbound, though, and I think you'd like it because you talk about games being stylized. It's got a cool visual identity.
Ridge Racer Unbounded looks really cool. It totally went under my radar at the time.

Thank you! I plan to make more episodes based on other franchises in the future, stay tuned!
Right?! It doesn't feel like a complete game, like a beta or even an alpha. It's such a shame too, I had high hopes for it.

@@NoMooreMercyTV I seen someone recently play it maybe 3 weeks ago so maybe you have mileage against bots. Its over-the-top carnage so give it a looksy.
@@Fhrxst I will! Thanks for the recommendation.
Definitely give MW2012 a try, it's a lil barebones but what is there is really fun, especially if you like Paradise!
@@NoMooreMercyTVI picked it up for the EA sale on Steam and blasted through the most wanted list within two days, it was a blast. NGL, the somewhat heavy driving physics took a bit to get used to and the pristine clean visuals weren't my cup of tea (the dirty and grimy look of Paradise is more appealing to me), but I'm glad I stuck with the game. I Love It by Icona Pop was a bop too.
Low key too, I get the feeling Criterion were coping when they made HP and MW, knowing they won't be able to work on another Burnout game again.
@raythepony I know a lot of the OG devs quit Criterion/EA after MW2012, maybe EA wanted the games to go a different direction? Not sure. Glad you enjoyed the game though!
Dangerous Driving is literally "we got Burnout 3 at home"
Burnout 3 on temu
@@NoMooreMercyTV Burnout 3:AliExpress Edition
In case of NFS, I came back to old games thinking "Yeah it's just nostlagia talking" but nope, Most Wanted from 2005 gave me more joy than Unbound and Heat. That game doesn't feel like huge mess and dunno why EA tries to make so complicated games what can be overhelming. Too much unnecessery stuff. MW2005 is short, you can beat it in one day without using exploits, but it's fun.
I definitely have to check it out then!
Their next game is being funded by THQ, so hopefully it's good.
ridge racer feels like burnout revenge with the artstyle
It's a bit similar yeah.
Oh well.
RIDGE RACER UNBOUNDED MENTIONED!!1! 🔥🔥🔥
I had no idea so many people loved this game like I do!
No Crash'n'Burn? The cover for the game is actually the reason I picked up Burnout Revenge (My intro to the franchise) because I confused the two... lol.
I might feature it in a follow up video! It looks super cool.
i remember playing ridge racer unbounded when i was younger on the xbox 360. and for whatever reason i loved putting the powerplants in the track editor and smashing through them and making the game lag lol
I'm jealous! Did you play the multiplayer? Was the game populated at all back then?
@@NoMooreMercyTVmy bad for responding i dont get notifcations for yt comments. But from what i remember i never played multiplayer
22:00 Split Second's rubber-band AI is bad, but the game's concept requires other vehicles to always be ahead of the player to force them to use power plays. Still annoying/funny to drop a tower on six cars and see them all blow past you five seconds later though.
Crash Time 5: Undercover has lots of Burnout-style crashes, and Trail Out is a pretty good FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage re-imagining. They're both on Steam.
LMAO exactly! It's so infuriating, at least let me trigger them behind me or something!
