You are a smart man! I was a registered nurse for 46 years so I know what you mean. I changed my focus any times during my career from the O.R to community nursing to Arctic outpost, chemo, Palliative and Emergency nursing. I still love what I did but as you know anything can become routine and tedious. You’re young. You have an open sea to live and conquer in your own way!

Well, I'm an old salt former charter, tournament, and pleasure Capt for hire. I can flat out say that if you want to live poor, then get your Capt license and go in debt buying a boat that someone else has already moved on from. If you love deep sea everything then don't try to make a living at it. Now I have know a very few that made it charter fishing. They all had side gigs that helped them succeed at chartering. Brother Waterman find you something that will provide you a way to go enjoy the water and you don't have to worry about some googin ruining your day just because he's paying you to catch his brat kid the fish of a lifetime. Physically I do believe that you get shorter after those days of 3-5 or 4-6 foot seas. The only way I see for anybody to make it as a Capt is to work for a person that can't never spend his money. Professional athletes, movie stars, musical millionaires. Let them pay their dues for owning a boat or yacht. I could go on for days talking about the life of a 6 pack charter Capt. Head up my friend.

I’ve met plenty of captains that I absolutely felt like I was a paycheck and not a client for someone who was passionate about what they are doing and happy to share that with me. It’s a lot of money for a day out fishing with your family and you incur all the cost for the boat. I agree that the sandbar trips are going to be very enjoyable for you! Life is about doing what you have to for you to stay happy and healthy. Hope you will continue to make some videos the scenery is beautiful!

I have mixed feelings regarding this. Fortunately for you, my opinion means nothing. You are attempting to avoid the unavoidable. We all have to go to work, We all have to pay our bills. I have been a paramedic for 27 years. I deal with BS on a daily basis. It is what it is.... You are your own boss. You make money, doing what you love. You have made it! Dont quit now! We'd all love to not wear ourselves out...LOL. Its living. Im 50 and hope to retire in 3 more years....with this economy, well all be working well into our 70's. Put me on the cancellation list. Damn my brother, Been watching for years now. Cards on the table I am sad. Not because you have decided to take a new turn in life but because I see you uncomfortable on the screen. Part of your success is your honesty and forthright expression of your feelings. We feel you my brother. You and Maddy are still in the beginning of your journey and I am sure success and happiness is in your future. God Bless yall and hope to see you soon.

I enjoyed it and learned a lot. Nothing lasts forever and I do understand burn out due to pressure and developing interests elsewhere. Repeating success you have had is another kind of rut. I'm happy for you and I'm sure the fish are breathing easier with the announcement

Aaron, Thanks for all your previous above and below water videos! I agree with you about having the love of diving and fishing getting jaded by thinking of it as work. It was work for me when I looked at the dock before a charter and saw 22 Lloyd Bridges and Jacques Cousteau clones ready to come aboard. Looking forward to more excellent videos , Thanks Capt Doug

You're far from the only one to go through this. I had to make a similar decision with my brewery after 10 years. Glad you made it out before you completely resented it; I wish i would've made that decision a year or so sooner than I did. 6 months later, I'm much happier and I'm sure you'll feel the same. Was hoping to book a trip with you during my annual month-long hiatus to Islamorada in March, but hopefully I'll see you out there enjoying it the ocean for yourself.

Thank you, Aaron, for opening your soul to us. I personally can relate to your heavy heart because I changed my career path during my forties because my passion was becoming burdensome. It worked out for me so I will 🙏 pray that you have the same success. God Bless you Aaron. I will be watching your channel as long as you produce videos.
