@@benmiller5015 that poor motor would have flashbacks 😂 the motor in ruby right now is the same motor that did the 7 in Leroy with no water 2 blown headgaskets and 45psi and a couple torched pistons but still drive in the trailer then onto the lift

Chasing 7s, scraping off 0.01, and getting within a hair of a 7 second pass is honestly one of my favourite things to watch the boys do. Loved watching Leroy chase the 7, and now we get to do it again. Let's go Ruby!

@@bounderchris love all the living room dragsters! It's not as simple as most folks think. You put most people in a 600 horsepower car, they'd be wrapped around a pole within the hour... let alone a 1300+ hp two speed, going 150 mph in the 1320.

Haha got my girl hooked recently. She watched the vids when he picked up ruby at the auction. Showed her the drag week and she's like "thats the same car???" And all the hovercraft and mystery machine content has kept her
I think James is on to something with adjusting the converter. You've got the tuning about as tuned as it can be, and you might squeak out a 7.9x in that weather with tuning adjustments, but you're at the point of making mechanical changes to get a solid consistent 7.
You are absolutely right. You can literally hear it fighting the converter at the top end. It’s climbing MPH way too slowly before the trap for that amount of power.
tuning...... forget about the converter, UNLOCKED and leave it...
James is such a knowledgeable dude. Great mechanic and smart with everything in this field of racing. Awesome runs in Ruby too
It's crazy that you can almost actually see his mind ticking when he compares times and just knows what needs changing, that takes years on years of hands on, first hand experience. The guy is 500% an asset to the shop!

They need to take the TurboGuard off. It’s an 18% restriction according to their own website.
Should be enough to get the extra boost they need.

Gerg Sipatray would work but there’s no need for a filter on a drag strip. They only put the turbo guard on for race week.

Kevin is a beast, its humid as hell here in Florida thats a 7 second car in non 100% humidity air, in sweating just walking down the driveway checking the mail.
@Darryl Cashman Gee.......ya think? That car would've DEFINITELY ran at least TWO 7 sec passes back to back had it not been for this hot humid weather. Do you even realize just how difficult it is to accomplish this in such dank hot atmosphere? I live here in Florida, and I can tell you this time of year is the worst for trying to make anything go fast. Yet the car still ran a 1.2 and a 1.19 sixty foot and TWICE ran a 5.1 in the 1/8th mile. That's as fast as the best pass ever driving Leroy. THAT IS A CONSISTENT 7 SECOND CAR ( Ruby ) in the standing 1/4 mile. But this weather simply wouldn't allow it. Like the viewer ( Bat Man ) you responded to said: "I'm sweating just walking down the driveway to check the mail". Had the temps been around 70 degrees with lower humidity, you can bet the farm these boys would've possibly broke Leroy's record .....and went home early doing it.

Back then a 13 second car was FAST on the streets, and 12 flat would shut down anything in town. It wasn't that long ago. Boost, nitrous, ECUs, and better parts that can keep it all together. We knew how to make more power back then, but the motors would blow up. Stock blocks making 2500 hp! That's insane.

@@relate97 Not really not in 2020. In 2020 every new Mustang GT is a 1970 LS6 Chevelle. Every single one of them. There weren't very many LS6 Chevelles running around, and there were no Vipers, GTs, 800 hp Challengers Mustangs and Camaros. All those cars will break off 12s all day with a noob driver if he doesn't wreck. It's a new world where we are approaching 45% efficiency from a gas motor that can be sold profitably. In the 8 second Pro Stock days a new Vette had about 180 hp. The Trans Am was faster and it was a slug.

Texas Outlaw Kevin seems to build cars that hold up and deliver consistent runs.
Kevin also knows where in the tune there is still place for improvement. That's why he's not concern about the rest.
I'm sure Kevin wants a 7.9 not more. Get the time to think about the tune, then retry later for something up to 7.6 if the parts are able to achieve that.

Meh. Kevin is more humble, and seems a lot more knowledgeable than Jeremy. J knows a lot about engine tuning, but that is about it. After that there is a lot of talk about efficiency and so on, without any knowledge attached to it. Kevin on the other hand has the complete package...
Funny how ice is one of the most important things in drag racing. When I went with Prime-c10 we went through about 55 lbs in a night!

Ruby must need lower gearing to get it more top speed, seems to pull the hardest at the beginning of gears where r.p.m's are lowest, drop it down alittle more if can, or maybe a TH400
That wouldn't really make sense money wise. Also. They weren't really touching the top end because the 60 and 1/8th is were time is made. Top end is where engines break, low end is where parts break.

@Texas Outlaw Problem is they need to get the 1/8th mile down. That's where you gain E/T. Putting on the power on the back half just makes it MPH higher.
