Chevy & blew my doors off🤣 Somewhere somebody is gonna beat you! But it was all great fun and I wouldn't change it for the world😉

Honestly Cleet, James and Coop have brought so much joy to my life and have helped me through the hardest time of my life. Getting sober aint easy boys but watching your pure satisfaction and joy from uploading crazy content for us regularly I commend all of you! Offically 3 months sober and I can say these videos got me through alot of rough times

James M common sense that alot of others seem to lack. Im not a drag racer by any means but for you to say that have a look at plenty of other youtubers that race. Their eyes are everywhere from mirrors to guages and the car next to them when they should really be focused as he is. Not arguing just saying it does seem like common sense but many people pay attention to everything else. Kinda makes me think thats why boostedboiz cant hardly ever get a clean pass. @James M unfortunately common sense isn't all that common lol. Some guys are looking at gauges, shifter, etc. But hes got it down fs.
Everyone like this to get Cleetus to see it. He needs to switch up them Allen bolts on both Leroy and ruby to a grade 10 to stop shearing the bolts as well as loctite680 much better then red and blue. Work on ski lifts it’s some of the best stuff we have encountered. (No more sheared bolts)
I think if they would just keep the ones in there tight they would be fine. Not to say what you suggest is a bad idea other than 680 isn't really a thread locker by design. Why do you say it is better than red?
@Sic Semper Tyrannis I don't think they are letting the bolts loosen up to allow for a weak spot, they are breaking from being loose, not from being too weak for the job. 6 3/8 (?) Grade 8 bolts will provide some serious clamping force. Something like 42000 pounds.
most axle allens are grade 10...
@@--_DJ_-- I concur why use Loctite 680 Adhesive for Anaerobic Fiber Optic Connectors......... especially if you use the primer...it almost welds itself together....
@Sic Semper Tyrannis I read your whole comment, including the part with the poorly designed shear you worked on. They are breaking because they are loose, not too weak. Even if they were using 8's to let it break there they are not breaking at a point where 8's would when they are backed off.

Leroy has had a "drag race" transmission for a couple of years.
its a faceplated, straight cut, dog ring(if I remember correctly) "t56". I think they have one that is mildly beefier that they put in Donnie but to be honest I don't remember.
I think Donnie’s was a new one, they should still have the backup red white and blue trans for Leroy, I haven’t seen him put it in at least on camera

Tough day for everyone. But that's the reality of racing. The triumphant wins to the dismal damages. Things break but that's how you learn what works and what doesn't is setting the cars up. But I love watching you guys drag race.
Will always have a lot of love for Jeremy, but it feels right repping Kevin on the front bumper these days.

Man, when Cleet said "You guys wanted 7s, this is what we have to deal with" got me. So much stress on every part of these cars to launch. Super excited to see how things continue as 7's continue to be pushed.
No such thing as too much freedom, only underqualified components.
Add Nord-lock washers to those axle bolts, they're more effective than loc-tite or anything else I've found for maintaining bolt tension in high vibration applications
Completely useless in every way. Biggest scam going
Nord-lock is garbage if bolt and material you run a bolt in is harder than a washer. They have rather narrow list of applications and only superior to thread lock in high heat environment.
only way to solve this is to nut and bolt the car after every race, like circle track racers do.
easy fix, just weld round steel bar to the outside of the allen bolts. I have done this so many times on ships, especially propellers. I Know it sucks having to use an angle grinder to undo the bolts, but rather that, than having to drill out all of them...

I had drive shaft issues just like that using a drive shaft spacer. I was using lock washers thinking it would help, it didn’t. Used flat washers and didn’t have the issue ever again.

Left handed drill bits for taking out those broken bolts in a snap.
Great suggestion! Also locating pins on the axle flange. Bolts should not see 100% of the torsional load. Locate the axle with the pins, then “fasten” with the bolts! Love watching you guys rip! Cheers
It would also be a good idea to keep an extra outdrive flange in the trailer so they wouldn't have to mess around with it at the track, just throw another one in it. And then make sure to tighten the things every two or three passes so it doesn't happen in the first place.
I also wonder if safety wiring all the axle flange bolts would be worth while?
@@BarneyLux Safety wire and/or red loctite, especially since they are known to come loose.
Slots cut in the end of the bolts, then when you break one, you screw it out with a screwdriver.

Not trying to hate on anyone but these comments constantly about oh it’s frustrating with this thing James is doing not showing us his times..... cleet explained it and normally people who watch this channel about racing should understand the reasoning. It’s a class of racing. Grudge Racing..You don’t share your secrets or details about your set up and try to race people for money or bragging rights. It’s pretty much races you normally would see on the street. But trying to be safe and legal and on a prepped surface. If you truly don’t understand the meaning behind the secrecy then you won’t. Grudge racing is whoever passes the finish line first. Not oh I ran a 8.50 to your 8.60 or I got you off the tree. None of that matters. First across the line.

Most of us get that but we don’t have any perspective on how fast they’re going down the track. Watching people fight for 7’s then seeing James shoot down in 3.6 seconds is mind boggling, I just want a time to have a point of reference
I love how you and so many other channels just meld together. Seeing you guys as one big car family really is awesome. Also 240 with pop up headlights up is awesome.
Those sheared bolts are the reason why "Extractor" drill bits exist, although few people outside motorcycle shops use them, they save you a lot of trouble when trying to take broken bolts out might be worth having a set around in the trailer
I use them and I'm in the Reno business.
@Ok Then Ive only been to an aircraft engine "shop" once in my life so I had no Idea they used that sort of stuff construction though, had a couple of guys fixing a shed we had for an emergency power plant that sheared a couple of bolts when the roof went flying from high winds and when I mentioned them they looked at me like I was E.T. or something
You don't need extractors for sheared bolts. Just spin them with a small screwdriver or pick until enough is sticking out to grip with fingers.
@@timramich if enough of it sticks out yes you can do it that way but Ive tried that with bolts from an aluminum frame that had loctite and it was a pain, extractors just made it easier

Brent proves time and again hes a real ass mechanic who can get shit done in a pinch.
Just a FYI if you keep a left handed countersink. You can put it in a drill and as long as the bolts are not seized when they break, You can normally get them to back out.

Look up Nord-Lock washers. You won't have an issue of bolts coming loose with those.
Hey man, get an air engraver and the vibration will generally allow you to get broken bolts out easily. Not always but most of the time it works. Something cheap that you can have laying around that is an option to try quick! Keep on keeping on brutha!

No red....then they cant get the broken bolts out between rounds! Its shearing the bolts they are not backing out. Maybe backing out a hair then causing the shear but i think its time for a better bolt. Also id tear it all down and add 6 more. Just my 2 freaking cents lol

The thumbnail made me thought you messed up on the launch and hit the wall driving *Ruby* lol I was like *NOOO!!! not my RUBY!!!* (my favorite project car on the channel) Glad she's ok though, just a few bolts needed to fix 😊. I learn more and more about fixing parts on cars everytime something breaks. You guys will do better next time for sure 😉
pro tip .......... buya set of left handed drill bits and when things like that snap off you can actually spin them back out without drilling much of a hole. as long as the bolt isnt bottomed out and sometimes when it is.
