After dealing with 50K+ hour generator engines, I'd say he's right.
The amount of work that you guys get done on the road amazes me. Does anyone know the attrition rate on these races? How many start vs how many finish?
It depends on the conditions… a really HOT week will suck the life out of a lot of race (street lol) cars, especially your N/A, high compression, high lift motors… the low compression boosted crowd seems to fare much better. I was watching Hot Rod Drag Week coverage and halfway through the week there was almost 50 out… but that event draws a much bigger crowd.
Fast, cheap, reliable. Choose 2. And they’re not even going that cheap.
@@Christopher_R more like, fast, reliable, choose one lol
Not even close to the amount of work Finnegan did to Blasphemi during drag week.
I'm 100% sure they keep track
Safety tip: if you have multiple race vehicles, you should really standardize the locations and types of safety equipment. Last thing you want is to be 'in the moment' and be flailing around looking for a chute handle or disconnect, as we saw James do in Ruby on his last pass. Probably worth sending them over to KSR and having them update the fleet now that there are four regular drag cars in the stable.
caught this too: completely agree
wow good eye, it just makes sense. Its not even insulting to say that, its safety...
Hopefully they see this, that is an amazing point. When you go 175+ in 7-8 seconds it is better to have the muscle memory of where to reach for the chute than to rely on being able to find it in time if things go south.

Never missed an episode and this one's up there. James just being James and so much respect for Brent and Cleetus to power through that. Not an easy job on a lift let alone jack stands.
There's something about pulling your shit box apart in crap conditions, then the feeling of driving it again after you replace parts, getting shit done in a short time by just plugging away and staying focused that just gets in your DNA and stays there. Best feeling ever.

it was the video title for me lol
Also, "We should change the oil before the next track."
Absolutely he jinxed himself as soon as he said that
The way cleet's eyes lit up when George said it's the crown vic or clutches 😂😂
As much as that must have sucked it was still a smart move to turn that slip in and grind out the rest of the day changing that clutch. Goes to show even with a dailed setup like Leroy race week is pretty dang challenging.
The only problem is he didn't turn the slip in, not until the lanes closed anyway. They were hoping to make another rip. He should have turned the slip in right away, then he could have used the portable lift guy or drove to a proper shop to do it.
George is absolutely killin it with the camera! His energy and banter is awesome. Once he gets even more time he will be the greatest of all time.

*knocks wood with an ice cold Mountain Dew.
@@batsonelectronics Once Ruby upgraded, it was a rocket ship. Meanwhile, December 2017-January 2018 marks the beginnings of Leroy breaking clutches. That look on Cleetus' face as he feels vibration after doing an 8-hour clutch change in a parking lot, that's nearly FOUR years of fighting against the weakest point of Leroy, and something I don't think they can change, not without the Internet having a meltdown. I ran one of those weighted clutches in my chevy and I never could get it dialed in right.way to many variables like temp ,rpm's, weather and changing weights all the time .even without changing weights it was like driving a whole different setup every time. I threw it away after about 20 or so runs trying to get it right.
Absolutely agree. Adding in variables is the last thing you want to do and there's no reason to do it anymore with all the adjustability you have with the computers. They used to make sense back when it was carbs and distributor weights but not anymore. Now you can just tune back the car and bring the power in as you roll with the laptop.
I think they are kind of forced to run the slipper especially now that Leroy is on a radial tire. Stick cars have only recently dipped down into the deep 7s and have always struggled to the 60'. The slipper clutch has become almost necessary for these high hp cars just to get them to hook and get the short track down. I agree that it is more troublesome than it might be worth, but I think when you start shooting for deep 7s or lower, it's almost required. Wait for World Cup. They wont have any issue being on a radial there and can get way more aggressive with the clutch.
@@Weekendairsoftwrrior Not talking about the drivetrain. We know they at the limits of the t56 and diff. Can't really upgrade from what they already have. The issue is the ETs they want to run are not possible with a conventional clutch. You almost have to run a slipper in order to leave on more boost which is what they have to do to get the short track down. Add in a radial tire on these mediocre prepped tracks and its even more difficult to get down. He should just run the slick on race week and stick the radials on for things like World Cup and FL2K.
George is such a great addition to the Channel. Unmatched vibes
