    Beautiful. I like the textured look of the pastel back ground. For a first try i did use some brown eye shadow on a mandala back ground and I really like it. of course PanPastels are the Real thing! Lovely colors! ...Thanks for a great tutorial.

      I have heard people compare PanPastels to eye shadow, and while there are some similarities, it would also depend on the brand of eye shadow. However, I know some people that use eye shadows for backgrounds instead of pastels, which is honestly so cool and so much more affordable!

    I remember DeDe saying that you really don’t need the extra dark shades, just to add black if you wanted darker. I have all the colors minus the extra darks and it’s really all I need. I bought mine at a little art shop about an hour away from me. I get there about 6 times a year. They cost me more, but I like to support small business.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic

      So darker grays do better than black but yea you can also make the lighter shades yourself as well. But I'm lazy teehee. So I buy them

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  4 месяца назад

      No not at all. You can go right over it with them. Just a little rougher so you may wear down the lead faster, but it actually adds nice tooth to super smooth paper if you enjoy tooth

    Hi Kori! The mushroom house is adorable, & the coloring is beautiful! & not just because it's primarily the best color imaginable lol. Really love the look you created with the pan pastels! Do you mind sharing which workable fixative you use, as well as final spray? The only workable fixative I've used is krylon, so am not familiar with others. But I had a giggle when you said, but it will look like you sprayed your page with krylon, cuz, yeah its definitely not great. Thanks!

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  3 года назад +1

      So I use the krylon workable fixatiff, but that won't hold panpastel down. It's just holding them enough if I want to use something on top. For a final fixative I use grumbacher.

    Good morning. Is the Krylon Matte Workable fixative ok? Also the finish fixative I received from Amazon is Senleah. Is it ok to mix fixative brands?

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah any workable fixative is fine, you just want to be able to put stuff over it. I haven't used Senleah before, but I usually use Krylon and Grumbacher for my final fixative.

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  3 года назад +1

      Oh a Fixatiff. It holds the pastels in place so that you can draw on top of them (workable ones at least). A final fixative holds everything in place and you can't add on top of it.

    • @tammygeorge1638
      @tammygeorge1638 3 года назад

      @@ColorfullyOptimistic lol. yeah, that stuff! 😂 😂! . When I'm in a hurry trying to write something, and I see it's not right. I Usaualy fix. But I had a livestream coming on ,and I jumped off really qwickly! lol. I also want to try the Distress Inks, and now they have the Distress Oxide! Have you used them? And what Fixative would I get for over the pan pastels?

    • @ColorfullyOptimistic
      @ColorfullyOptimistic  3 года назад

      @@tammygeorge1638 yes I've used the inks and oxides both in coloring books but the ink is def better for books imo because it's translucent while the oxide is opaque. So you want a final fixative for PanPastels. Workable holds it down (I use krykon Workable fixatiff) to work on top but you'll need a final to seal it in place. I use grumbacher final fixative that is for pastel and charcoal. It holds it really well
