Another cheaper alternative to the casio a1000 is the skmei 1806. It doesn't have the same quality as the casio, but for around $15 dollars it's a decent watch.

The Rubik is a great watch that personifies that 70s-80s look that is so much fun! The one failure is the backlight. For the most part I wear this as a day watch only. I love the look of the Casios, but I'm not a fan or resin cased watches. Nice to see Armitron is still providing a stainless steel alternative at a very reasonable price. I agree, I can't even believe that people think that Casio even compares to Armitron. Armitron digital watches are made out of 316l steel. They are an affordable classy sports watch option

Edit: If you're looking for a digital option that scratches that itch, I also recommend the Casio A178 (better light and the form factor is a little bigger, with bigger digits, not to mention that you can make a small alteration to activate the timer function, which I did and it works great). Another option, if you can find it, is the Casio DB-520, packs a lot of functions and retains that 80's vibe (terrible light, but it keeps true to the original). Both options come in resin case, but make for a great watches in any colletion.
I've already scratched my itch for a better f91 with my W217h, but i really wanted a steel case basic digital without modding or spending over $100 for a Casio that ISN'T a G SHOCK. I'm sold on the Rubik.

Is the Rubik's and Rogue's crystals really mineral glass ? Armitron's website shows them both as acrylic resin. Normally if it is glass the bevel on the crystal is normally opaque white, but photos shows it as clear which leads me to believe it is indeed acrylic.
there's so many vintage digital watch out there that has been discontinued from seiko, citizen to rolex but armitron chose to make similar model to casio f91 & f168, so lazy 😔

Casio is a piece of trash compared to Armitron. Armitron is all 316l stainless steel. It is a beautiful affordable sports watch option. It even comes in gold tone. And I do not mean it is plated. It is a fully gold tone watch that is absolutely gorgeous. No other digital watch compares to Armitron. None

Trash is a bit hard, but i must say that this watch looks promising. It would look good next to my casio digitals. To be fair, the Rubrik line of watches was the only one worth looking at, the other ones were ugly. Casio has way more to offer in that regard. But i get your point. What sadens me is that casio seems to ignore the potential of stainless steel/saphire digital customers. That Rag&Bone a1000 bullshit proves my point.

Very respectable competitor. I'm slightly unsure about the swimmer in the dial, as it's not that much water resistant.
