    The review was very entertaining and I own the same watch. I put some C3-lumed sword hands on mine -- they look suitably militaristic. I also swapped-out the movement to an NH36A and put a domed acrylic on it for more of a 1960s vibe. Now I think I need that Vario strap to make it look even cooler -- thanks!

    Cool watch. But think you don't understand water resistance (and are therefore misinforming people in a way that can F up their watches). 30m WR resistance doesn't mean you can strap the watch to your wrist and go down 30m. It means that a case of this type (ie not this specific case) was (maybe) pressure tested in a device which doesn't actually simulate how it would react on an actual wrist moving around in water at depth. 30m basically means you can shower with it (at your own risk). And what exactly does the number of jewels mean to you? How does this info help you in terms of wearing or using or purchasing this watch?

    • @working_mans_watches
      @working_mans_watches  5 месяцев назад +3

      According the International Organization for Standardization (or “ISO” as dive watch nerds call it), “a 30 meter water resistant watch is suitable for any aquatic activity up to thirty meters”. Nowhere in their standards bible do they discuss the oft-recited myth of dynamic pressure, so there’s no reason whatsoever to buy into the fallacy that many horological know-it-alls on RUclips often scream from the hills. The main thing is to make sure that your gaskets and seals are in good shape. If you do this, you can absolutely go thirty meters (and most likely more) underwater with a watch rated for thirty meters.
      As for jewel count, as I said in the video, it’s not important at all. I just think it’s charming as hell to see on a dial (similar to the words “unbreakable mainspring” or “rotor self-winding”).
      Thanks for watching!

      @@working_mans_watches exactly this

    • @greggusan
      @greggusan 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@working_mans_watches Well, there is a reason to buy into the idea that you shouldn't go 30m with a 30m rated watch: they frequently fail. I've seen it happen more than once. And virtually no manufacture suggests you can swim with a watch with such a rating. Most recommend you don't shower with it, much less take 30m or 20m or 10m or 2m deep for any period of time. I'd just suggest to anybody who likes their 30m rated watches, think twice before taking into any depth of water. It's not a smart risk.

  • @Michael-hs2wh
    @Michael-hs2wh 5 месяцев назад +1

    Take of the lether strap. You gotta have a nato strap on this watch.
    Also i wouldnt use a watch with 30m waterresistance to go swimming. You gotta do youre Research and Look up why everyone is opsessed with waterresistance. This watch is gotta Brake if youll shower with it probably.

    • @working_mans_watches
      @working_mans_watches  5 месяцев назад +8

      Haha, I’d rather attach it to my wrist with a piece of barbed wire than wear a Nato. And before I took this watch off its original bracelet, I did shower with it many times. The watch never had a problem. Water resistance fears are completely unnecessary, just so long as the seals/gaskets aren’t corroded. Anyway, thanks for watching!

      The water resist scare is such a stupid trend of the watch community.People now won’t buy a watch for EDC or outdoor activities unless it is not ISO certified for at least 200m, screwdown crown etc. Meanwhile my F-91 and my Seiko 5 from 1981 were with me on mountain tops, snorkeling in the sea and lake without any issues.
      You know what this tells me?
      That people are suckers for marketing and have never used their watches outside their desk at job and yet yap about water resistance.

And I mean you are right, that it hasnt have to be a dealbraker for a lot of people, and if it does Brake you can repair it. But I have seen watches Brake cause of Water and I know other people who do. Inhalt I think the Marketing move here is to test the watches under unrealistic conditions to be able to write down 3üm instwad od the 10cm its worth. Pretty Sure 90% of costumers have no idea about watches so thats the group theyre aming for.
      But i also Respekt you guys staying true to youre ideals.

      @jaysterling26 5 месяцев назад +3

      @eldarpanther1513 I think it's the brand's fault ( at least pre internet): you buy a normal quartz watch & it says '100 metre' - one thinks ,'wow!' - & there's your benchmark for water resistance forever...or one reads/watches(!) the Internet and it 's usually OTT for one's dsily use.
      Sapphire glass is the new water resistance. Good for office but not 'off-road'.
