Mate, the background music is way too loud, I could hardly hear you. My dad was an Australian Advisor living with the SOG teams at Dak To during the war ( 69-70 ) and he brought back home his issued watch and I still have it. The new one looks good too!
How I wish I could see one of those real watches. You surely have more stories to tell than I do. Thanks for sharing. Been receiving several comments regarding the issue with my audio levels. Trying to fix it with my newer videos.
My SNK381 is a bit small but I like it. Next stop is adding more period looking baton hands and a white date wheel. Probably will pop off the Seiko 5 "shield" under Seiko and with all that it will look very similar to some of the originals.
I buy the Snk381 and i change the black date disk with a white date disk and i replace the bracelet with Nato black strap. Now it is a very Vietnam War watch! The movement is very bad, +35" for day 😢.
Perhaps somewhat of a stupid question but how do you change straps? do you need a tool, is there a spring bar? Because in pictures I seem unable to see any holes on the side of the lugs
@@jonswenson Wow that was fast! I personally love this - www.haveston.com/corp-canvas-series/25-703-HAV044C.html#/88-variation-18mm_polished_original_metal_keeper Glad to help!
To be honest, haven't really bothered to check on the accuracy yet. Might do, out of curiosity, but I do have a few watches in rotation and I end up setting the time on this Seiko every couple of days. Really glad you liked the video. Hope you can consider subscribing. Thanks.
@@wristrants Okay no worries. But it would be interesting to know for sure. Out of curiosity. I have two other seiko 5 watches and they run within 10 seconds range. i have another watch with NH35 movement and it runs -5 to -10 seconds in various positions. That said, i too never had to worry about the accuracy because these watches are fairly accurate for my everyday use. And the values i gave you above came from a timegrapher android app. So, it's only an approximation and the watches could be a bit better in actuality.
@@Seirin-nr.15 yeah 35 kinda sucks. But that's within the advertised accuracy range for this movement. So seiko will not take it back. You can get it regulated however. The accuracy varies wildly on these movements right out of the factory depending on the individual watch. One could be running at COCS certified rate, but another piece could run 15 sec fast and so on. but i still love the watch so much. it doesn't leave my wrist at all. i am planning on a domed sapphire crystal upgrade
Smoking crack dude. Bunch of them on ebay right now for around $120USD shipped. I got one, and bought some OEM snxs baton hands you are 99% of the way to a macv sog model
Was that you chilling in the background with Sammy Davis Jr?
yup! guy holding a camera with a seiko on the right wrist.
This is another profound look at military history intertwined with horology. Your unique take on watch content will surely bring you much success.

My best watch move ever was to get the SKX just before they were discontinued. The prices these days are crazy!! 😅
was too late for an SKX. i really wish I got the 013 earlier.
@@wristrants Unfortunate for you 😔 And I should have thrown in a 013 for good measure! 😅
@@cartoonpete407 yeah. at least i found a tuna for a good price.
Could you share the link of the seller? Does the seller ship internationally?
I used some sandpaper to make my own SNK381 case less shiny - if it were any other watch I would never dream of doing so
can't do that yet. maybe after a few serious scratches. thanks for sharing anyway. hope you can consider subscribing.

that's alright. it does have standard spring bars which can be serviced with a cheap tool.

The lack of water resistance ruins this watch
Sad, but I'll have to agree. Could have been a perfect daily for me.
You're being dramatic. I've worn this watch daily for several months with no issues
Late reply but they are water resistant up to 30m
Music terrible. I stopped watching because of it. Ridiculous
