Wow!! Just wow!!!! I finally have a name for this bump on my knee!!! I played baseball as a kid. I still have the bump. I remember my father had one on each knee. He told me it was from sports, but as a kid I didn’t really understand what that meant. I was in a car accident a few years ago and injured my knee with that bump. After imaging the doctor told me I had a bone flap. I didn’t know what that meant, and he didn’t care to explain it, even after asking him. I’ve learned so much from this channel including how to reduce hip popping. Thank you so much for what you do ♥️ 🤗 you are making a difference 💪🏽
Wow! thank you so much for this feedback! So happy to hear you’re learning from these videos. I’m glad to be of help. Please feel free to share any of these to your loved ones! We appreciate you!!
I’m 46 years old and 6’4”. Been playing ice hockey for 5 years or so and recently this as been my problem. I know stretching will help and need to prioritize it. Definitely hurts to kneel on it. Do the thin knee braces placed on the tendon help or just a band aid. It feels better with rest but I play often and that when it gets inflamed. Awesome video, I’ll definitely stretch more
I've had this bump since i was 14 from playing football during PE classes and i didn't know what it was, but over time it got unbearable and i used to punch in alot, which in turn sometimes made the pain even more unbearable and it also made a little snap when my leg was set at a particular angle. Thanks for clearing things up , i know how to erase it now
I’m 47 how the f I got it? Just had a broken ankle surgery. It is painless unless I make contact with the the floor/hard surface Will it go away? How can you minimize the bump so it isn’t as ugly AF⁉️
This can happen for all sorts of reasons. The surgery could have resulted in you putting more tension through your quad and knee. Maybe check out our Knee Plan on Jen Health to learn how to slowly load that knee back up and make sure you are not compensating and putting to much stress there. I had no idea that wasn't normal or that it was related to the pain in my knees. Could this be what causes me to be unable to straighten my knee if I have been running? I really do need to see a PT.
I have this..I do a lot of jumping and running. The pain done got worse over the years. It prevents me from doing what I want. It’s stressful. Thanks for the information
I have had this bump (Osgood schlatter) since i was about 9 years. When it started it prevented me from playing soccer and if i do, my both knees just keep swelling up and i had to place crip bandages on it. It ended up stop playing sport because of it. Now am in my mid 40's and the bump is just there, when i kneel down i use my side knee to kneel. I also noticed by the side of the knee like a crack. Can anything be done now to reverse it?
Not really to reverse the bump itself, but working on loading the knees and becoming more resilient in the joint can be a great way to start desensitizing the area. We also have other suggestions in the video!
Hi Larry, thank you for sharing with us. Unfortunately, there's no way to diagnose through the comments, but if concerned, we always recommend seeing your primary doctor for some peace of mind.
I am 15 and I play alot of football. Is it really possible to play football professionally with this? It started to give me alot of pain a few days ago and I am not able to play football to my full ability any tips?
So often if you work on progressive loading, this pain can start to reduce after you are done growing. It is hard to get it to calm down without altering activity levels, if you currently are really inflamed. So I would say working on hip and ankle mobility as well as adding in some safe knee loading like heels elevated squats or reverse nordic curls could be great.
I really have a big bump below my knee.. It's pains when it touches something. If I do the recommended exercises and treatments. How many months will it take to reduce it... Any rough idea
Im 13 and i felt like i started having it at 11 which was when i first started doing taekwondo and it was very annoying and sometimes even painful especially cuz as a beginner my muscles would also be sore alot but now i dont really feel it anymore but i was just a bit curios about what it was 😅
Wow! Thanks for this info. I’m 75 and have always wondered why I have this huge annoying bump on the front of my knee! Now I know I must have developed it growing up taking tap, ballet and acrobatics at 5 to 6 years old. Then figure skating from 12 to 21 years old. Because of that I still have rock hard quads. Several years ago I asked my PCP what it was and told him it bothered me when I’d kneel down. He pretty much just shrugged it off, didn’t give me an answer as to what it was, and told me not to kneel! I stopped going to him.

I'm 13 I have the hump and it's been there since I was 8 and it's been weighing my soccer performance down
I hope the exercises work
I hope this helps you too!
I have the bumps, but no pain. It's sometimes hard though to do exercises on all fours. Didn't occur until I was an adult. Is that the same thing?
It can be similar! But it doesn't matter as much if you don't have pain associated with it!
Mine feels bruised when light to the touch
Can it happen on right side of the knee.. Not exactly below the knee cap but on right side? Cause my 5 year niece has it.. So am worried..
Hmm it might not exactly be this condition but could be something different related to the IT band or something else.
I have two bony lumps on the side front of knee hurts sometimes I'm 40 x rays said it's not a lesion so idk what it is
Could be related to this and maybe you developed them when you were younger even!
Thanks I am 13 and I was wondering what the bump below my knee was so I asked youtube and this came up
Then I did a 20 minute stretch with my parents
Thank you for watching, Hope the video helps! I'm glad you got a stretch in!

It could be! Definitely could help to check things out with a PT!

Can it happen after falling on knee? I'm 21 and got a lump that seems like the one you are describing 👀.
Falling or kneeling on this area can definitely irritate things more!

Absolutely! It is just more common in the adolescent ages.
