Ok, I WAS LIKE YOU, yes you! , who read this and still trying to make sound decision. I was checking every video and all possible online opinions for probably 2 days. I have red, heard about gyro drift issue and other negative stuff regarding Waza Air, but I took the leap. NO regrets whatsoever ! Giro thing is not that important, sound and freedom are. If you want best possible sound of your guitar through headphones, this is it ! no kidding. So, If you have paid all the bills and kids are feed, do not hesitate, in my humble opinion they are worth it. Playing along to backing tracks in any room you like is priceless. Exercising arpeggios on the toilet seat unforgettable :-)Trust me on this one ! If this comment helped you, please give me “like” below, I want to see lots of happy Waza Air users.

Looking at picking up a pair of these and a video like this is down to the absolute core what people looking at this product want. Awesome job.

Thanks again for doing what you do; buying fake ear microphones is above and beyond (but a full tv studio that traverses multiple stories isn’t 🤔)....I love you. See ya in like a week.
Excellent video - thank you! From around 10:20 we have a perfect demonstration of the fundamental flaw with this device. The accelerometer drift causing the amp to run away regardless of head position, which pretty much ruins those modes. Undoubtedly great audio from the device and perhaps worth getting just for that, just to be completely wireless.

Love the review! I will just add a few things I love about the WAZA-AIR headphones. The headphones have Larger drivers than any of my other headsets. This makes everything sound better, whether I’m jamming with a backing track or watching my favorite movie. The fact of the ear cups are attached magnetically and that they are removable to clean or to replace at some point in the future is great. I agree with you the Boss really cheaped by not including some sort of case for these headphones. Shame on you boss. I think they should actually pony up and send all of the original purchasers a free case. Not only is it the right thing to do, it would be great PR for them. The app is fantastic. I would however love to see a version for my desktop. I would also love for Boss to set up a place for users to share tones.
Wish the transmitter could charge by plugging into the headphones. Also wish they included a case. Going to wait until the Mk II when they sort out the gyroscope issue. This WAS a great review! Most detailed and best review since Andertons!

Just this video of you demonstrating the Waza Air your explanation of the using the effects mode on the app I found helpful, thank you. Also as you say the cleans are really good and I bought a carry case!
The thing with youtube app not playing when you go into a different app is because RUclips only allows background playing when you have their RUclips Red subscription. I'm guessing any sort of music app doesn't do it. Great demo, though! I honestly think it's the best I've seen so far. Would've loved to have seen your first impressions, but I guess seeing Vai and Malmsteen being mind=blown works, too.
great review. Very close to the actual experience of using the headphones. Got mine a few weeks back and practice at home loads more now the dog dosen't howl during my solos ;0)
Great review. I have these headphones and they are fantastic. FYI RUclips does not play music in the background, it needs to be open, front and centre, so it's not a fault with the Bluetooth audio of the Waza-Air app when you return to it to change settings and the music stops playing..RUclips would stop playing music if you went to check your email or did anything else with your phone :)
I decided to take a risk and purchased these even though i hate the sound of electric guitar with headphones. I have times at my home where i just can't enjoy playing as i know it is annoying people. Over the years i have wasted loads of money trying to find quiet practice equipment from expensive headphones to small practice amps. These headphones are a game changer they really do sound good. I'll still use my amps when the house is empty but can now enjoy playing at any time. It doesn't feel like i'm playing on a stage tbh but it does have a really good ambience and tone even with distortion. They are expensive but i don't feel like i've wasted my money as i have with many many amps.

Im only 44, and just hate to see people accept transhumanist ideology, I hate VR. 🤔 Based on my "expert" gear knowledge lol, may I suggest to you go get yourself a Steinberger guitar, a Boss Pocket GT, and a long cable to hook up to a PA? That's feather weight and would totally fullfill your most basic needs. A Vox AC4 can be miked as well, also very light. Cheers from Oklahoma!
Great vid Henning, finally a chance to experience something like the real thing! They are expensive though and I worry a little about those exposed little wires on the sides. How tough are they? I have gone through a number of headphones over the last couple of years. Those wires are vulnerable.
Haha Henning, you nutter. Awesome rig! This sounds really cool tbh. The reason I don't like using headphones is that 'directness' (and poor headphone out/speaker sims). I like how this sounds a lot more, but probably - especially with that price tag - still would prefer the 'acoustic' thing. Even though it will mean playing at low volume.
The input jack on the headphones is only to pair the guitar’s input plug with the headphones. It doesn’t charge the guitar plug and also isn’t a jack for cable.
I wanna say I say you in Hollywood the other day and I yelled out something random about your ehx video. Sorry i was loud hahah 😅. Either way your videos are great and thanks for the like ya gave me on one of my Instagram video a while back!
On my westone um 30's I have to switch right/left in order for it to sound like the amp is behind me, it's moving opposite in the stereo field if I have them the right way. Another thing I observed is that you have way to many guitars! If you need room for new ones send them my way, I'd be happy to help make room, lol!! Love the video thanks I might buy some.
wonder if you could put transmitter into floor modeler output, use a wireless guitar transmitter like line 6 into the modeler input and stream bluetooth from computer so everything would be wireless and you could now use your modelers amps/fx? That would be awesome.
I wonder how long will it take to any brand of Effects Units for guitar to add these capabilities to the headphone line out of their devices. It would be so great to have those in the unit itself and use them with any set of headphones.
In the meantime whilst i wait for mine to arrive i have managed to get a set of wireless headphones with an input jack and 2 sets of wireless guitar transmitter and receivers working with Tonebridge and Bias Fx. I’ll see how they compare once the waza air arrives. At the moment though i too am wireless albeit without the gyro effect!
Amazing sound but there seems to be a huge problem with gyro tracking speed and then gyro drift. This has been commented on in other reviews. Wonder if Boss are fixing that (will need hardware changes) and thus the non-availability. I will wait a good while until this problem is resolved. I would also like at least a stereo output from the processor.
Great video and great headphone-amp but for how often I would use them way too expensive (they are worth the money from a sound quality standpoint). But since I still had my phones on when the animals at the end part went on: How did you create that awesome guitar sound?!
Thanks, nice review. Did you experience any sound drift with the giro moving under its own steam??? For what it’s worth, this is the only piece of gear my wife does not consider to be GAS.. She loves the fact that I don’t insist I must pug in an amp to practice..😂👍🇦🇺
The drifting issue is happening at 10:50 and again at 12:20 - note where the amp position was when the movement started and where it was at the end! Why are reviewers not mentioning this? Are these independent reviews, or paid for infomercials? I own a pair and the headphones and amp sims are great, but the gyros don’t work properly.
Maybe he didn't notice because somebody else is turning the headphones and he is confused or forgot where they started. But the video doesn't lie, the amp position ends up 180 degrees from where it started in Stage mode. And the headphones are rotating on a perfectly horizontal plane - when your head is moving in multiple planes, it's even worse.
@@Forest_Fifer from the statements of people who know how that technology works say that its a hardware issue not able to be fixed by updating software. They said a possible fix would have to be light sensors in the room and a sensor added to the headphones to track the light positioning.
Easy to reset the drift, but there is a setting that just eliminates drift, probably a better choice for sitting, like in front of your monitor, rather than walking around. He does a good job of recording the 3D sensation but the tone is much more present and "in the room" than this video can demonstrate. So as good as the demo is, the real thing is even better.
Yes it has a drifting problem. The reason these demo videos don't reveal the issue is because the binaural rotating rig they have set up doesn't accurately reproduce head movement up and down. Once you are playing and your head is moving in all directions, the drift is immediate. It makes the Static and Stage modes useless.
Listened through my studio headphones...sounds were ok...but not sure if maybe the Boss headphones have drivers positioned in different places in the earshells as all i got was...camera tuned right...music panned right....camera turned left ...music panned left. Camera to the front stereo...I get the impression from other demos that the amp is supposed to sit in a virtual space... so when it is behind you the sound is supposed to literally feel like it comes from behind you...if thats the case then the demo didnt do that on my system. Will have to try them in person I think. Did you feel that the experience listening back through youtube was accurate???? In all honesty the surround mode just sounded like a very wide stereo spread I get in logic..... still a very enjoyable video though and kudos for the amount if effort you put into it.
I agree. I play a lot of VR games and the binaural effect works brilliantly there. You can easily sense the distance to the source of the sounds. But here in this video it sounds like the source is just slightly outside your head at best. It's disappointing if it isn't any better than this because the idea is pretty genius.
Jamal Mohammed Considering what you get its actually a bargain. I tried them for about 5mins. and bought them on the spot. The app alone is thousands of dollars saved on amps and pedals. But you’re right on one point. If you Try them out you WILL buy them. On the other hand you will not regret it.
Thanks for the video,... very helpful -- so is it possible to practice with backing tracks from a different app, like "Anytune Pro" where you can change speed and loop, etc... ? If so, I am in - that's exactly what I was waiting for,... Thanks
I'll be buying these for the joy of being able to play anywhere anytime ...... priceless . Only worry is ...are the lithium ion batteries in 'phones or transmitter replaceable when they eventually fail ? Warranty is only 12 months and Boss seem reluctant to elaborate on this .
Ok my Christmas was Waza Air Bass, and I made a case (pelican based) from which they sit inside but can be charged without taking out of case, just plug in the case to a USB C and they charge without opening the case :)
First of all, thank you for the great informative video. I still have a question though. If you plug the transmitter in the output of pedal board/multi-effects processor, does it work properly? Does the headphone "amp" takes the effects well? I appreciate if you could give your opinion on the sound quality if the headphone is used this way.
Great video (new subscriber) - can you set-up tones on a Katana 50 or 100 and listen on WAZA Airs? My problem with these and the Katana Air (which I returned) is the limited adjustment of the FX settings via the App (vs full adjustment on PC/Mac). Do you know if we can create tones on PC then use on the WAZA Air somehow?
This is pretty much THE perfect practice solution for me. But that price is just way to high. For 299€ I’d buy it in a heartbeat. But 425€??? Maybe if the headphones weren’t so ugly. But like this? Nah... By the way, the audio stopping is a RUclips thing. When you switch out of the RUclips app it stops playback.
I received my set recently. I should say that the 3D effect is not important to me at all, my reason for purchase was for a light, portable, practice set up with good tone and effects. Consequently I keep these in 'surround' mode all the time. I also have the VOX headphone amps (which plug into the output jack of the guitar). First up, these are very comfortable headphones on my head. I was a little worried that they would be overly plasticky and fragile, but really they are robust. I have had no issues with the app (on an iphone) and the pairing was easy. Importantly, the sound is really excellent. I cannot discern any lag, and there is no noise - the tone is pure and rich. I enjoy the fact that the sound feels like it is coming from outside my ears rather than inside - feels very natural. The effects and amp types are high quality and convincing - considerably better than my VOX practice amp (ok, its a Mini 5 Rythm) which is the closest matching 'use case' I have other than the VOX Amphones. The app works great and I have not found it to be confusing or difficult to use. By comparison to the Amphones, were it not for the fact that these are the only two headphone amplifiers I can think of I would not think to compare them. In short, the Waza Air headphone are just a whole lot better in all respects - tone, build quality, comfort, useability, and smart device integration. But then, they would want to be because they are 4 to 5 times more expensive too. Are they too expensive - well I guess one should decide that on why they are buying them. For me - no. These are an excellent solution and I am grateful Boss put them into the market.
@@stanielvader5954 Hi - I have the app running on an iPhone 8+ and have had zero problems. connections are quick and easy and stable. App has never crashed on my phone, and it works well in the background so I can run other music apps through the headphones at the same time (like metrotimer, ultimate guitar, irealpro etc). I have enjoyed the access to the effects library and tone central for some nice tone 'recipes'. Genuinely no complaints here. One possible caveat is that if I attach the transmitter to the output jack of my multi-effects unit (zoom g3N) rather than into the guitar jack I get some background noise that is otherwise not present. I have not spent time diagnosing this, and it could easily be to do with settings on the Zoom unit.

Why did I watch this video? How do I stop myself from buying these now? (knowing how expensive they are!)
Jamal Mohammed
Considering what you get its actually a bargain. I tried them for about 5mins. and bought them on the spot.
The app alone is thousands of dollars saved on amps and pedals.
But you’re right on one point. If you Try them out you WILL buy them. On the other hand you will not regret it.
Dude, decent bluetooth headphones (OK, with NC) cost about the same.
@Sam Santana
OK, and? Did I tell what you're saying is not right??
Sam Santana I was reacting on Jamal and I meant these Boss headphones are not expensive since decent BT headphones cost the same and do less. 🙄
Thanks for the video,... very helpful -- so is it possible to practice with backing tracks from a different app, like "Anytune Pro" where you can change speed and loop, etc... ? If so, I am in - that's exactly what I was waiting for,... Thanks
I'm listening on my new iron maiden Ed phones, sounds great.
Great review ,subbed 🤘🎸🇦🇺
Sold
I have motion sickness now. Thanks, Henning.
Great video, I just got mine and I am already confused about Bluetooth connections? Some people are having problems
I have young children. I'm sold, thank you for the excellent review👍
Well done man. 👍
Can be the thr30ii and the WAZA air used together? Endless wireless and adjusting opportunities 😀 ( nice shootout btw ;) )
And one more question. Does the transmitter fit into standard american strat?
you can't use them together and yes, it fits into a strat
@@EytschPi42 Many-many thanks for the fast response :)
Ok my Christmas was Waza Air Bass, and I made a case (pelican based) from which they sit inside but can be charged without taking out of case, just plug in the case to a USB C and they charge without opening the case :)
Yeah, 3Dio I built the first 100-200 units, some of the first had black ears!
Are the ears/mics for binaural recording? You've gone to a LOT of trouble & it was pretty cool.
First of all, thank you for the great informative video. I still have a question though. If you plug the transmitter in the output of pedal board/multi-effects processor, does it work properly? Does the headphone "amp" takes the effects well? I appreciate if you could give your opinion on the sound quality if the headphone is used this way.
very creative and fun thanks for making this ! you look like a good man who would give me away a guitar I DK it can change my life tho
What is your guitar? A Friedman if I read well?? I love this headstock and body shape. Looks like a Texas Toast...
The port is only to dock the wireless receiver.
Wieder mal ein kuhles Video, danke dafür!
Love your sound tracks in Guitar. can you give me a link to your Tom James backing tracks?
on YT: Elevated Jam Tracks
Can you connect them to a PC like you can with a proper AMP + Micro USB and record sound?
Can it play colorless sound like a monitor and be plugged into an Amp, pedal, or another processor?
I agree. I can definitely see that they're great and would work well for me. However, I can't quite justify them at that price. Maybe around 250ish?
Aloha! I read that the App is very unstable used with Android devices, Bad Bluetooth etc.
Can you tell the same?
Thanks
Awesome video
