thanks for the video. i have a 1999 chevy s10 that i am pretty sure we need to change the fuel injectors on - any insight on if the fuel pressure regulator needs to be removed or anything done with it before doing the injector work?
On the 2003 the pressure regulator is part of the fuel filter so I would try that first, if not it would be the same step by step process for replacing the injectors on here
Having trouble screwing back in fuel rail, any tips, also spark plugs wires kinda in the way n cant seem to level the screw into place. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thank u in advance
I use Swivel heads and try and balance it at the end. I have also see someone use tape or a magnet at the end of a swivel socket to try and keep it level.
Patience and if you really want to, sometimes if you put a magnet on the side of your socket it will make the bolt stay in the socket better and make it a little easier. A lot of it was practice for me
@Lost Socket Motorsports alright, I’ll try that. I’m just having trouble getting the bolts started in the whole. I’m sure if I could do that I could get them tightened.
About to do an injector. Ive got a misfire on cylinder 4 I’ve noticed my 98 does not have a retaining clip where the 2 fuel rail lines meet. Is that crucial to have? Could it cause it to have a misfire?
I didn't because I know the symptoms of an internally leaking fuel injector system. If I wasn't aware, i would do a fuel pressure test and let it sit with the gauge on it. you would then see the pressure tail off pretty quickly. Only 3 places this usually happens are the fuel pump, fuel filter (where the fuel pressure regulator is in the trucks) and the Injector/fuel rail.
The problem the truck was having was that the system was depressurizing itself because of a leak between the fuel rail and fuel injector so no pressure to start with. the pressure shouldn't be enough to worry about if you are wearing safety glasses.
I would like to ask you something First thank you for your video. I followed your instructions and I came out with one issue. After I replace the fuel injectors the truck does not start. Hi! Thank you so much for taking time to make all the videos for us. Please help me. Here is my issue. I just bought a 2003 GMC Sonoma SLS 6 cylinder Truck . The truck shakes/vibrates really bad once started. You can literally see the engine moving and shaking. It shakes throughout the drive and also appears to shake even more when at stopped light. Just yesterday afternoon, i was at a red light waiting to make a right turn onto the freeway. Once light turned green as i was pressing the gas and turning my steering reel it became hard to where i couldn’t turn it normally and literally suddenly just died on me. Thank goodness there was no other car making a right turn on the far left lane because when my truck steering reel became hard to turn the car went toward the left side. I tried few times to start car and it started and i went to the left turn trying to turn into the 7’eleven parking lot, right when i went onto the parking it died again. This time it took more times until car started again and this time when it felt as if the car is starting i gas it to help turn on. Then i drove just across to Oreilly and the worker scanned car and a code on his machine detected Cylinder 2 misfire. Purchased NEW: Spark plug wire set 6 spark plugs Replaced it on car. Still not resolved. Upon checking the MAF sensor was no good, the distributor has a line cracked on the number 2 . Went back to Oreilly: Purchased NEW * MAF Sensor *Distributor Cap & Rotor Replaced on car with those too. Again NOT Fix still showing code Cylinder 2 misfire. Issue present: 1.Shaking/vibration on car really bad and loud. 2. Check engine light comes on and off (flashing) I do not want to guess on what it is. Can someone please guide me on what to do next that can fix this. **At this moment writing this comment, i am in the car parked at Oreilly debating what to get. ***also when i moved wire on cylinder 2 to 4 and 4 to 2…it still show cylinder 2 misfire even after moving it to 4.
