Amazing video Nick & Heidi! The real world info was great. Loved watching the Toyota and your Caravan cross Elliot Falls river. Impressive stuff! Toyota should sponsor you😊
Great video guys. Cape York is a glorious place. Love to head back up there again once I get my LC300 GRS which is on order. Very impressive van too... you can see the quality.
@Mountain Trail RV - Very good video - thanks. We have a GR Sport and a Zone 20.6 off-road van which looks to be very similar in concept to your Mountain Trail van in just about every way, even down to that Bushman 190L compressor fridge. Couple of questions if I may: 1. Is your GR-S rear suspension standard, or do you have air bags in there? Or GVM upgrade of some type? What towball weight are you running? I assume there's no WDH on there - didn't spot one. (And wouldn't want one off-road either). 2. Thinking of adding an Oz Glide to the front of our drawbar and DO35 hitch, to dampen out the pitching on lumpy roads. Have you seen or tried one? 3. What make/model drone did you use for that spectacular drone work? Just a couple of nitpicks - I see you had your Weber/Ziggy plugged into the gas bayonet - but that's now not compliant with the new regulations. Have to have flame-out protection on anything plugged into a bayonet that's part of the van's reticulated gas system. Also - no towing mirrors, huh> Tsk Tsk... ;) Friends of ours got pulled up for that and issued with a ticket recently. We just use clip-on Brunsgaard mirrors, to be safe. Overall, loved the video and enjoyed the trip through your eyes! Thank you :)

The VX is the pick of the bunch... at least you can a do GVM upgrade and lifts etc...Not looking likely or if possible will be big $ on the GR. Can't add much to the GR with only 650 payload. With a 3.5T van and assuming you have 10% ball weight you only have 300kgs for people and all you stuff....not to mention bullbar etc

We shot this during the last week of May and first week of June this year. Some of the roads were still being graded after the wet season. You need to book most of the campsites... The one at Elliot Falls was with QLD Parks. If you want to stay at Cape York Camping would advise booking well in advance as it is very popular.
I love watching you guys. My partner and I are picking up a GR sport in the next few weeks. Nick quick question did you change any of the suspension to tow the caravan??
Thank you so much for your support! We appreciate you tuning in and sharing your excitement with us. We put poly aribags in the back springs, and that's it..
Hi Pheakdey, thanks for asking! We fitted the LC 300 with Goodyear Wranglers - 265/65r18. We added poly airbags to the rear coils and that was it for the suspension.
Safe?, What about brakes being used for the lane departure! I understand that when towing a load, this is dangerous! Yup! all the darn "Beeps" drove me mad on a relatively short trip. My friend's V6 is using a lot of oil. (A known issue I understand) Have You had high oil issues at all? If so, any word on a fix from Toyota? Otherwise it looks impressive. Thank you for the very well produced video. Very ninformative.
The Land cruiser consumed 5 litres of oil at 6000 kilometers! We topped it up in another episode called the Outback way. After that it no longer used any oil. We ended up doing 40,000 kilometres with the 300 and had no more oil consumption issues.
I was wondering how you managed to avoid going through Scrubby Creek when you went to Elliot Falls. The last two times I went there, Scrubby Creek was quite deep. Hi Just heard an interesting comment at 16.00 minute mark. You said absolutely no rattles. It's a Landcruiser, what do you expect. I had a 120 series Prado with 185,000km and currently have a 200 series(2016) with 235,000km on it(current drive). I also had a LT2000 Celica with about 150,000km. I HAVE NEVER HAD SQUEAK OR RATTLE OUT OF ANY OF MY TOYOTA. I have never had a breakdown(except a couple of tyres) of any sort. It's a Toyota, I don't expect it to do any of the things mentioned above. BTW love your videos(and Rv's) but maybe deliver in 2 or 3 parts to break it up a tad. Well done, thank you!
The Luxury Offroad LXV 6.2 van is the MY 23 specifications so features 755 watts of solar standard. More details on the model can be found at www.mountaintrailrv.com.au/lxv62
Great video, but one of the things I'd like to know more about is your weights. I've ordered a VX 300 to allow for GVM upgrade to increase payload. I have heard that this would be much more difficult on the GR Sport and would potentially remove the benefit of the e-KDSS system. How did you manage your payload with a 3.5T van on the back?
We just made it on the GVM weights with 2 of us in the car, full tank of fuel, 60KG in the back and up to 350KG downball load on the vehicle. The GCM just scapes in if the van weighs 3500KG when fully loaded. Theres not much more left for any accessories!!
Hey guys, really enjoy your videos, especially this one. Although I’m not a massive fan of the Toyota. I like the idea of the construction of your vans, I think I’d be correct in saying they are unique. Do you ever have any problems with things becoming lose? The dust system looks like it works great. Keep up the great work and the videos coming.
Don’t think you can get a bar and winch on the GRS. Front axle load +180kg from rumour. You’ll be hard on that with 2 people and a bar. Can’t upgrade GVM yet without disconnecting the electronic dampers and potentially edkss.
Good video well presented. I must say though for the price of that van, what around 170 K ? all the spruiking of Look no dust is overated.........If there was dust after paying that sort of money for a off road van you would be extremely disappointed.
I have rock tamers Still lost a rear window Last 5000 klm of gravel with a stone stomper and no problems and also not a single chip on the van So my opinion don’t entertain rock tamers go the stone stomper
Love your vans!!!! But you can do it in a shity old D22 or a 2wd. The roads are getting better each year and soon it will be tar. That thing is a toorak tractor now, not a better 200.

20 years ago I used to use a plastic straw to get free phone calls and now it’s free 😂
haha!
Loved your video but you game at least to travel without a winch and bull bar. 👍
True! There were heaps of people around if we needed to ask for help... The accessories though are still being designed for the LC 300.
Don’t think you can get a bar and winch on the GRS. Front axle load +180kg from rumour. You’ll be hard on that with 2 people and a bar. Can’t upgrade GVM yet without disconnecting the electronic dampers and potentially edkss.
A padded bra on the van would have stopped the smashing the rear window, had one on my van 12 years towing 4ton with LC200 VX, no broken window
Never tow with lane keeping on
Good video well presented. I must say though for the price of that van, what around 170 K ? all the spruiking of Look no dust is overated.........If there was dust after paying that sort of money for a off road van you would be extremely disappointed.
I have rock tamers
Still lost a rear window
Last 5000 klm of gravel with a stone stomper and no problems and also not a single chip on the van
So my opinion don’t entertain rock tamers go the stone stomper
Love your vans!!!! But you can do it in a shity old D22 or a 2wd. The roads are getting better each year and soon it will be tar. That thing is a toorak tractor now, not a better 200.
Heidi seeing that you are major sales manager for Australia a little question how much is the complete outfit that you and Rick to the cape, also I’m an old fart waiting for my boss to retire very shortly.
Hi John, you would have to get in touch with sales team to work out a price... jump on our website www.mountaintrailrv.com.au to find out how to get in touch.
Beautiful girl + Land Cruiser = life fun .

That making everyone lazy, no wounder we’re in all this mess
Doesn't sound as good as the supercharged Y62 Patrol
Haha!! Thanks for watching..
I’ve heard that supercharged Y62’s are guzzling 45L / 100km - no thanks!!
@@paulpaton6105 45! Ouch! $242.9 here. Just drove to the Gold Coast and back and averaged 5.2 in a 7 seater SUV at 118 on cruise. Doesn't sound as good as the supercharged Y62 though!
The Datsun’s a dinosaur! Got a 300 GRS, bloody magnificent vehicle!
I like patrols exterior, but the interior is a massive turn off
Surely the 200 is superior - less hunting and more weight
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍
Great video ...And then you mentioned your soy milk cabinet and I turned off....
Good luck with your adventures but your catering for a very small audience
Sorry to hear you don’t support lactose intolerance. Thanks for watching 👍
Jeeze, Australia is poor....look at the dirt roads.....look like those in poor Africa.....
