Don't get me wrong, I love the Stern wheels but it's nice seeing DP's not in white. Plays off the side stripes/chevrons really nice. Exceptionally beautiful Fox Saleen.
The three piece stern wheels are awesome and back in the day I liked those waaay more than the DP5 wheels. But now, the DP5’s are nostalgic and a classic 80’s early 90’s design. Lots of inspiration came from the Porsche 959 on the SSC and 90-91 SC models. Wheels specifically.
Wow! Beautiful car! I was 19 when this car came out so the Fox Body Mustang was a very big deal in my childhood and had several friends who owned one. I've owned a couple later in life and really wish I had another one. My favorite car of all time!
I was fortunate enough to see this beauty at Mustang Week last year... I couldn't believe I finally got to see it in person knowing it was the only Calypso SC (as well as some of their other beautiful Saleens!)
At 0:47 Dale Mathis of Mathis Mustang in Varnell GA? If so I've seen that car in person and about the same time he also had a 1994 Ford Mustang Cobra Cnv Indy 500 Pace w/the factory hardtop you could put on it... I used to buy all my foxbody aftermarket mods from Dale.. Edit I expanded the header and see he's the same Dale Mathis I was thinking of... I used to go to his house/shop all throughout the early to mid 90's.. Some of the Saleens he'd have when i went there would make you drool.. It was Saleen Mustang Porn! I told him once that I wanted to buy a stacked spoiler like that for my 93 LX 5.0. He told me you don't want one of those ( I can't remember if he was talking about the aftermarket or the actual Saleen stacked spoiler ) He said they're held on with double sided adhesive tape.
My 890092 has that shift knob from saleen from day 1 I replaced it in mid 90s ford motorsports svo knob .I talked to Liz and Steve about the shift knob at a mca show in Greenville sc I think 1994 they were used on when the saleen knob were short on supply . Had to order it from local parts store that sold ford motorsports parts no internet back then
In 91/92 went to go look at a used 5.0 at a dealership and they had a new LX 5.0 in this color with chrome pony’s… and they were begging me to just test drive it! I guess they couldn’t get anyone to buy it… now I think it’s a beautiful color but back then? Eeek!
I'm about to take a look at what i hope is a real Saleen. I mean from what i see in the pictures it looks genuine, but i don't really know what else to look for aside from actually calling the registry. It's a very solid looking vehicle so for what it's selling for and the prices for a clean Foxbody, i think I'll be getting a great deal🤞
Is that a screw over the Drive side tail pipe, I think its hoIdin' a plastic parts of the rear bumper, Funny i don' t recall workin' on that one I'd definitely remember that gem.
All Saleen's from 1989 to 1993 had screws placed in specific locations of the ground effects to help hold them on better. Some 1988 cars have screws because they started doing that as a running change in 1988 and there were warranty services performed on early aero cars with screws by dealers because the front air dams were coming off. Depends on where the car was delivered as to whether that was a problem or not. Really hot or really cold areas can create issues not seen in sunny southern Cali.
It's a great cool car. I'm just tired of wealthy people gobbling cars like this up, making it much more difficult and expensive for us average car enthusiasts with much thinner wallets. Top it off with these cars just sitting not being enjoyed to only be seen as art to the wealthy.
This is nothing new in the collector car market. Since the beginning of time, there have only been three types of admission to the collector car world. 1) buy a new car today that you think will have significant value in 30+ years and squirrel it away in a garage and never drive it. 2) Buy a car that has already been refreshed/restored to the level you want. This could be a good driver or a full on factory correct restoration. The closer to perfect the restoration, the less it will be driven and the higher the cost of admission. 3) find a used and abused version and put your own blood and sweat into restoring it to the level you want. It could be something you just want to get back on the road or could be a years long project of perfection. End of the day, begging these cars not to gain value and prominence is unrealistic. Just remember this, true collector cars that have value are never cheap, no matter which option you chose to obtain them.
I was advised by a Ford engineer who did wind tunnel testing that the 90-91 “double stack” wing is more functional than the other Saleen designed whale tale used on the aero cars.
@staypuft9994 yeah. The color can flip flop a little. It’s more green in the sunlight. Interior lights of the facility brought out the blue hue. Those lights emit more blue light.
Ok, just figured youd have more of an idea than me. Was just curious. 5.0 foxbodys here in long island Ny have gone up in price. Few years ago weren't worth much. @@PuristMotorsports
The SC had a bigger MAF, bigger Intake plenum, 1.72 rockers, ported heads, larger 1 5/8" primary Motorsport SSC headers, and a less restrictive Dynomax cat back were what was changed vs the standard 5.0 and standard Saleen models. The exhaust was less restrictive for sure. The stock 5.0 cam actually created more peak power in the GT40 test motors than the 93 cobra cam but was "soft" down low which is why Ford changed the 93 Cobra camshaft for more off idle and low end torque. So that off idle street manners are more "fun" for every owner. The Saleen SC's are very soft down low having driven a couple. They like to stay above 3500rpm. That being said, 304 was advertised. I'm not aware of anyone doing actual dyno sessions to confirm or deny that claim. It is definitely a better breathing motor than a standard 5.0. That I can confirm.
@PuristMotorsports Yes, back in 92 or 93 Ford changed the hp ratings for 5.0 engine. From 225hp to 205hp although they made no changes to the engine. From the dyno results I've seen stock 87-94 5.0's dyno at around 190 rwhp. The 93 stock Cobras dyno around 220 rwhp. If Ford didn't change the stock hp ratings, they would have had to advertise the 93 Cobra at 255-260 hp instead of 235 hp.
Yeaah thats nice. Any camry would bust its ass in a race though. These fools paying all this money hella stupid for this slow ass car. If this was 93 then cool...but its a damn long way from it

Nice, glad it is in good hands
The color makes this car look like an 11/10 on the aesthetics scale. can't get any better. over the top nice
That's cool, thanks for sharing.

That's a beautiful car. Love your videos. I need to ask, is there a video on the that wide-body Mc Claren?
Mark and I know the owner of that M81. He’s got quite the collection. It could be in a future video. It’s crazy rare!
Outstanding ride!

Love the color.

When Mark really geeks out about a car you know its special! Any info on the white Saleen racecar in the background?
It’s an ex Bob Bondourant race car. Used by Saleen for practice in the late 90’s.

This isn't your ordinary fox body its 1 of 1 😂😂😂

Have you seen the 1999 Saleen Bullet?
Girlie Green. That’s what it was known as back in the day. Took almost 30 years to grow on me
Same here. I definitely saw it that way too. Same with the violet E36 M3’s that are highly sought after now.
Ah yes. Techno Violet. Great color…now

Are the wings for show or are they functional?

My favorite color but on camera it looks like reef blue
I thought same thing! A had a calypso lx hatch and this looks way different

Saleen 🔥🔥🔥
What would something like this be worth? One of one calypso sc? Bat sold an sc vert $231k
@@willitohernandez1094 it’s anyone’s guess. Easily a 6 figure car. As to how far into six figures is really impossible to guess.

This looks Bimini Blue not Calypso from the same island theme from this year.
Yup. Big blue hue fluorescent lights make it look blue on camera.
