Create Card Games in Unreal Using CCG Toolkit (Currently Free!)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 окт 2024
- CCG Toolkit is part of the February Unreal Engine content pack. It enables you to create card games like Magic the Gathering or Hearthstone using the Unreal game engine. In addition to card game tools, it provides all the blueprints you need to create multiplayer or AI CCG.

I would subscribe if you did a series on this. Reverse engineering is hard for us noobs. We miss little things.
This has been one of the best free content offered by Unreal Engine, I'm a fan of the game Magic The Gathering Arena and HearthStone. I would like to see a game that brings out the best of both games, or to see a game inspired by the game that died years ago "BattleForge"
You might want to look into Eternal. Not trying to shill here, but it's enjoyable and you can play reasonably competitively even as a free-to-play player.
@@himitsumonban Wow, I didn't know that game, it looks pretty good I'll play it thank you very much
Thanks for featuring the Toolkit! - Creator
Thank you for making it!
Curious question. Do you still get revenue when your stuff is picked for being part of the montly free?
There are incentives for being included, but different to the standard rev-share your would receive selling content on the marketplace.
Hm I see. I'm glad you still get something out of this, because this looks like it took a while to push out.
Hello Creator, Do you have made an update? I love your kit but are they a new kit, or your kit is always up to date in 2021? Thanks a lot for your answer, Have a nice day :)
I don't know if you'd be interested in making some more content in depth on this. The documentation has some helpful info in it, but I'm having trouble understanding some things. I've been struggling on following the documented Add an Ability part. He uses some sentences like "Addthe Ability Intto the Cards current attack" but this doesn't help too much. Tbere's some images as well, but I can't get mine to match up to the document. If you could, I'd love if you made a video even just showcasing the customer ability part. I'm rather new to Unreal, having done most of my previous work in Unity. So maybe it's just because I'm not too familiar with Unreal yet. Thanks regardless for this video. I never would have found this at all without it.
Are you still having this issue and requiering assistance?

Exactly what i was looking for! ty Liked & Subbed
plrease do the 2D one , youtube lacks information about 2D tools!
@Prinny 6850 my comment was a direct answer to his "let me know me know if you want me to do a similar video about the 2D Platformer Tookit" , not about making a 2D game in general
i don't care about non -ue4 software
Agreed, a video on the 2D platformer tool kit would be cool
@Prinny 6850 actually I did a tutorial on making 2D games using Unreal back when it was first released. www.gamefromscratch.com/page/Unreal-Engine-2D-Game-Development-Tutorial-Series.aspx
Truth told, you're right, Unreal kinda sucks at 2D. I can see few reasons to use it personally.
Here you go! ruclips.net/video/9Rd6XNZpyi8/видео.html
So I've actually been using this project as a reference in making my TCG digitally. However, I am running into an issue. When it comes to Enumerators for the classes, I have A LOT of classes and species types, which from what I've seen in UE5, there's no way to search enum drop down for a specific value. Is there any other alternative to using enumerators when dealing with say 100+ values?
I just found a card game I made 10 years ago as a kid. I want to digitalize it.
damn i hope i can use this to create Battle Spirits :) it was my childhood
Are you aware of any free options available in the market at this time?
will this CCG help me make games like Tabletop games?
Example: 4 man Poker game (much like UNO)
or is it primarly for TCG
Can I put one of my game I created on a website? is there a way to upload the game to HTML?
Hi Want to make a simulator for myself to test decks for weiss schwarz, will i be able to set up the same layout?
great content! what is the best app builders for card games no-coding and free?
Gdevelop or clickteamfusion would be my go to. but coding it really is easier, and for that a good free engine is Godot.
@@Quinn_Davis but something like a standalone premade sandbox offline where we can just add our custom cards without coding,unreal,unity... after years of hearthstone custom cards, is there nothing?
Hey love your content. Wanted to ask you if I have this template can I combine it with another game template I have?
I want to know the same
1year later and still no explanation
Hi i have a great idea for a card game & wanted sum info. Is Unreal Engine & CCG Toolkit Free & what other game engines that also provide the blueprints like this? Thanks I appreciate your feedback.
Is there a place where I can ask questions about this specific toolkit? Like, making changes to some mechanics (max health and mana changes, etc.) I have problems figuring out what nodes in which packages I have to tweak for something like that.
Same here, waiting for cap.
Is it possible to make a Gin Rummy style game with this toolkit? I have a variation of Gin Rummy we play here in Mexico but haven’t found it anywhere online or App Store. I want to try and create it
Does this toolkit work with VR?
I'm trying to show experience in Systems Design, so I feel like this would be a good way to do that.
I want to get this, but I am not seeing enough videos about this. I have concerns that the documentation isn't alleviating.
Someone knows if there is a way to adapt this to a board game? I mean, with different tiles, movements, etc...
Or what should I learn to do that.
@Gamefromscratch Thanks for this video. Does this software allows you to publish "sell-able" card games on the marketplaces like Steam or as DVD?
Cheaper alternatives like Tabletopsimulator (TTS) does not allows that and the game has to be released free of cost. Is it the same with this CCG toolkit? It costs $58.98 (Vs TTS which costs like 5 USD), so I am hoping there is a scope to get return on the investment?
If you never got an answer to this question, allow me to inform you that according to the Terms and Services of Epic Games, when you "buy" something from the Marketplace for UE, you are well within your right to publish and market that content. This includes FREE content. The original creator is already getting paid for selling on the Marketplace to begin with and by that standard, while trying to claim "credit" on your creation would sound logical or even legal, Epic Terms and Services state otherwise. You buy it. You own it.
HOWEVER, if you were to try and re-upload the tooklit to the Epic Marketplace, that you would get in trouble for.
The difference comes down to "copyrigt like laws". If you get something off the Market for UE and use it to develope a game, you are no longer selling just that individual item.
The same applies if you were to take your favorite book and change all the character names and location names. Technically speaking, it is no longer the same book.
Same applies here. You might buy and use the Toolkit, but when you are done making your adjustments, you have added loads of content to the toolkit that you can legally argue they are no longer the same product. At least, that is my understanding of it. I know for sure that Epic makes it clear in the Terms and Services that you can publish and sell games utilizing Marketplace assets without legal reprocution.
If you might be wondering why these people put stuff on the Marketplace, it is because they can indeed sell it. The author is already being compensated. I believe the only restriction is that you can not re-upload the content as is and sell it as your own or sell it off another place.
Such a shame it's no longer free and all we can find for help these days in making a card game requires this terribly expensive framework. you know us little people who just want to learn the engine without spending a fortune on the supplies would really enjoy having access because we don't plan on selling our ideas because we don't know very much about the engine yet.
I tries searching for tutorials on Google but found nothing
All the " Card game tutorials" are for poker playing cards
There's litarally NO place that teaches how to make a game like hearthstone or MTG from scratch .
I agree
I have experience dealing with hex files (changing the numbers with hex editor to mod a game)
And I was wondering if I could make my own hex file from scratch to make a game
Again , found no tutorials anywhere 😑😭
Can we add this to a website URL? Cuz i got a game going and this would help to make a digital version. Also, can we monetize it ??? Booster packs?
Is it possible to make a game like Slay and Spire with this toolkit?
Is it possible to take this card game template and drop it into a deck builder rpg game?
Oh man, too bad I am just now getting here. Free would of been nice, but it looks likes it worth the price!
I'm just getting here too =D glad i know where to get it now though! and its half price now!
Dam I'm a year late haha

I get them all every month never know what you will need.
Im tow years late lol
Thx you much i build an card board game , all cards shoud be 3.5x3.5 inch and the field is build with cards too, and like in an tabletop game i like to move on this field my hero(1 field card have 6 movement zones( is this possible with this mod?
Someone needs to make a Pazaak game out of this.
I see a man of culture
@@markth078 HAHA Cheers.
KotOR 💀
This is genuinely what i wanted to do with it. unfortunately it's no longer free and as i have no income i can't afford the expenditure on it. However i did create the assets so im currently looking for someone who has a tutorial on how to make this without the framework. but all that comes up is videos with this framework or some students stuggling to make something similar without the framework themselves who have very little clue on how to make it.
where can I get this toolkit? just for study
wow! wish I got it when it was free!!
Mee to
instead of doing game like heartstone, would it be simple to change it to work similarly to pokemon trading card game?
Had the same idea
Yes and no. Yes because you can set it up to do so but you will have to alter and change aspects of the toolkit. No because you have to alter and change aspects of the toolkit. It is doable, but you are going to need to go through this toolkit very thuroghly and make sure you understand how it works before changing that much of it.
For me personally, this already works mostly in my favor. I might not have to change much at all in general. I will have to make some alterations to the "mana" but that can wait until I get the core functions done.
hi guys will this toolkit still work with unreal engine 5? I'll like to make a card game myself
Can u make a tutorial how to use the CCG Toolkit to make a game where the monsters start on the field and ur deck is made of attacks and spells do this monsters fight each other? All the modes on this toolkit is about a deck full of monsters fighting each other.
I agree
Or some ways to code my own game from lirarally scratch
I wanna make a card game SO badly
Can I use this to make a normal card game using 52 deck
Hi, is this engine good and beginner friendly?
Yes. It looks intimidating, but just follow some tutorials and intros from say DevSquad and other creators. It only took me a few weeks before I was going off the tutorial rails and making my own modifications and ideas.
THANK SO MUCH
Where can you find to purchase it?
I bet that there have already been 24 asset flips of this
What these free assets packs should be used for mostly is learning. I will be getting all of them just to take a look under the hood. I'll also get my hands dirty with some of them just to learn how others think and program.
@@DeltaNovum That's the thing though. This isn't a "free asset pack". It is a paid asset pack being given away for free for a month (Creator has agreed to give up a month of profit for promotion). People who buy this wouldn't use it for reference (mostly), they would just know how to add to it, change it, and make it their own. Getting it for free is definitely a great way to learn how to do it yourself, but no one would spend the money (typically) to only "learn" from a product created to be an entire framework for your game.
DeepFried Oreo how do you know its the creator giving up income and not Epic paying them for every free download of the asset?
@@StarfallXIV I have looked into seeling things on Unreal myself, and I would assume it is the same thing as a sale. For a sale to happen Epic reaches our to developers in a random cycle, if they respond in time the product is put on sale and they get paid the reduced price if they choose to accept (they can decline going on sale).
This might be something different and maybe Epic compensates them for it, but I'm assuming that would be WAY too much money for Epic to pay out and this feature would not last too long.
DeepFried Oreo In a sale, the creators still earn something though. Thats a far cry from 0. Epic has deep pockets for marketing and I dont see how this would be a big deal for them.
Besides, if youre the creator giving this for free, what “promotion” are you getting? Everyone who cared will get this for free, so youre mostly bleeding money. If youre giving away a CCG framework, you better have card design assets in your store page, or you’ll be driving sales to other creators at your loss.
Does anyone know if this toolkit exists in unreal engine 5?
How does the game tell cards are in the deck
Hello, i will like to know if you gonna make a series about the creation of a card game with the cct toolkit (since it's free right now)?
He might not, but I could. I just started messing with this today and I already got a custom deck in with custom abilites. Only took me two hours.
does this work for UE5 as well?
can you add more deck types?
where can i find the documentation that you referr to in the beginning?
Link is in the bio of the vidow. Scroll down on the opened page and you will find a hyperlink in some text.
Oh man this is really good but is not free anymore T.T
Ok not sure how I missed it, but where is the documentation located?
The documentation is linked at the bottom of the linked article. On a phone right now so can't do better than that.
and Dices for a dice game ??? (Aces Kings Queens, Jota Reds and blacks) thanks bro
Is their a way I can get a copy of this blueprint for free? I am too late to get it for free.
search a bit im sure you'll find
@@808reaper7 can you shared i can't find
Did you find it ?
Aw shrekt. I didn't even know Marketplace had montly free stuff.
Guess I missed it.
Always best
Please update the title. Just remove the "currently free" from it and we're golden.
Honestly fifty bucks for that much work done is worth it, just feels like a bait and switch (I don't think you made the tool, but still)
is this run on linux?
Update for UE5?
anyone can help me on how to add a creature come to live when you play the card
I missed this, what can I do ?

@@KingK0ma can't dl..
@@KingK0ma do you have an updated link?
wow 49.99 now... on marketplace :T
Worth it
@@christopherpoet458 If you're someone like me who's job is unpaid (I care for my parents full time with zero income for much else other than food and bills) then it's not really worth it. i just wish people would do tutorials for things that don't require a purchase from the marketplace, but unfortunately that seems to be the growing tend now.
need to no more of it.
I know unreal wanted me to get that card game. Because i am very good at Yu-Gi-Oh!. Hi CGG
Did you ever get this and make a yu-gi-oh clone?
how to download free, cost $50
You don't. It was only free for a month two years ago as stated in the video. You have to buy it now but it is currently on sale as of today for half the cost.
sad i'm too late by 3 years and 2 months, guess i'll pay the 50 XD
it costs 50$
Can this be used in unity
damn i’m 5 years late
"hurthstone" OMEGALUL
can you recreate uno with this?
too uch time loose
CCG = collectible card game. Not computerized card game lmfao..
I would like to create a game similar to slay the spire. So a roguelike deckbuilder game where you build your deck while beating different AI opponents. Do you think this Toolkit is useful for this purpose or do I need to change so much that it's easier to create the game from scratch?
There is a rougelike deckbuilder on the Marketplace.
Aahhh card games...there are over 200 card games on the play store and they all are clones of each other...do we really want more? The last card game to be different was slay the spire and that's more like a action card game.
Welcome to the typical business model of "copy the sucessful guy" to make your money. Its simple, its not the making of the game over and over that is a problem. It is the lack of personilization and invention on the devs part to make it something that stands out.
this video is not thorough enough
Anyone wanna party up on a ccg?
Great. Too bad it's in Unreal Engine. If it was on Unity, I would take a look and care.
Ue4 >unity
Does it have a Dice option? Also, if you buy multiple blueprints/kits, can you merge them? I have never used it but I'd like to make a card game that includes dice and boardgame type board.
If you still need a reply, the answer is no they do not include dice. However, yes you can add it. Technically, you can mod the whole thing to your desire and you can merge kits. You just have to make sure the setup of the scripts are not conflicting with each other. In this case, should not be an issue.
could this be adapted to unity?
You can't its license only permits usage through Unreal engine and unreal licenses (%5 cut from your sales for 3k$+ sales)
