Just look back how Sri Lanka was so developed in Asia at that time, TV programs were so good, hosts were fantastic, English was impeccable. I never knew Clarence W could speak Tamil so fluently with a bit of Jaffna dialect. Older generation of Sri Lankans were very proficient in English.

Class written all over. Isn't it ?.
Just missing this class in modern day ( in all forms of art in general). We stopped teaching literature and history in our secondary education in 1978. For me that was the main reason as to why we don't get any quality in our art any more ( in all forms ). Accordingly, after 2005 ( with the gradual loss of the generation who were brought up in that background and a few who were influenced by the older generation ( despite them not having got the literature and history in their secondary education). On the contrary see how good the western music and film industries still are. So this poor present state of art is not a generation gap. I make a humble request to all of you good folks who understand this and worry about , let's do our part to instill quality in Art and also to build a generation who could understand and embrace quality ( at least by encouraging them to read, watch, listen to quality work world around ). Cheers.
