I will never accept the idea track limits are ruining anything. As long as it’s the rule, everyone is aware that keeping the car on the lines is the rule, then done fine. If everyone is allowed to argue with the rules we don’t have a sport, just people in fast cars all in the same place for some reason. If you want to argue that tracks need to be changed to make for more racing line options sure I’m here for that. But the limits are just a rule that’s intended to test people who are supposedly the best in the world. Some of them failed that test.

couldn't agree more. If others have no problem keeping their cars in the track limits, then it shouldn't be a problem for all.

Agree..gravels and co will just give yellow flags and affect other teams time

I think the delay is the issue. F1 has the ability to get better limit detection and relaying to the driver. Immediate or even 5-10s delay would allow drivers to back off, recharge (depending on track), and go again.
Also yes the lines are the rules but drivers are having difficulty getting reference points since they aren’t getting feedback from the white line. A change in surface would fix this. Or a wall… they can see the wall, they can’t see white line.

Unless its for safety reason, there should not be a track limit if there are still bits of tarmac available that you can used to go faster.
The problem is that often time the track limit is there just because someone draw a white line there…. Which is just plain stupid.

There's far too much talk about track limits. If we all agree that the race should occur within the limits of the track, and the track is defined, then everyone has the same rules to stay within. Because of track design, it looks like policing must be conducted and lap time deletion is the form of penalty. I'd much prefer that limits are defined by grass, gravel, etc. so that the "penalty" is self policing. No one seems to complain about track limits on street circuits, since the track limit polices itself... With a wall

^^ this 100%, the notion that it's a tough track so track limits should be relaxed is absolute rubbish... The difference between the good racers and the best is they drive to the tracks strengths without over pushing. You want to win more, get better... simple as that!

I am a bigger fan of grass / gravel etc. but there is always the compromise for motorbike safety on FIA circuits

hey, love your videos. Just wanted to say that im experiencing a lot of audio clipping with this particular video(espacially in the later half) You might want to look into it. I don't believe i normally experience this on your videos. I also checked some random other videos and it seems it is not present there. Anyway keep up the good work.

the problem of other deterrents like gravel or grass is that the car may be unable to come back or damage another car, which seems a bit excessive for just going off track. I think that if they really are the 15-20 best drivers in the world "difficult" track conditions it's kind of their thing, if not them, then who? Also, a bit of wind and a white line hardly classify as "difficult"
Finally, to be constructive and proactive, I suggest they RAISE the tracks at least 2 meters above ground. No track limits, no paint, no kerbs, just plain old gravity; if you fell, you're out.

I didn't see many snap over-steer errors causing track limit violations. They just under-steer. I think the grass lattice is a cool idea. Seeing the price of tickets, It's seems now would be a good time to make track changes. Not of fan of gravel getting spewed on track. Would be nice to see tires creating less marbles. If that's a remote possibility. I see what's happening in IMSA and WEC sans tire blankets. Offline is disaster on fresh rubber.
