I've been recently watching a lot of your content and find it very unique for the simple reason that is very relatable. And when I say relatable, I would refrain from confining it to only the MBA journey scenes. I find it relatable to the everyday lives we lead and experience as it passes by. There's no greater pleasure than knowing you've not been alone and will not be alone in the kind of headspace you get pushed into when you are a part of certain circumstances. All the instances you share specific to your experiences and how you look at them as mere learning milestones and not let them burden your soul is a perfect paradigm to overcome and sustain inevitable feelings of regret and grief. For these reasons, I see you not as a content creator or a youtuber but a friend I've always longed for. Because all our journeys maybe lonely, but paths are parallel and we don't need a reason to feel the comfort of friendships and belongingness. Thank you, Shweta!

Hey, according to Cracku percentile predictor - You need a percentile range of 80-95+ percentile overall and along with that a sectional of 70+%ile in the CAT Exam. Personally would suggest you try for 95+ for a convert from Top 10 Institutes.

The first self doubt is valid for many. Two girls in my batch (pgp iima) were rank holders in their undergrad but finished at ranks more than 100 in the first year.

I had done that a few months ago, it's just that rn I don't have enough time to devote to mentorship. I've been using a new phone for videos so editing takes a lot of time with my current laptop. When I get better at editing and have time at hand, I can surely restart the program.
I took a sigh before writing this comment over here 2018 batch of BTech i did the same first mistake you mentioned which actually spooled my whole 4 year program of BTech. Never felt like that i was made for that college or I'm one of those studing their and this psychological mistake is the root cause of almost everything being too lazy for classes , casual attitude , overthinking .🙂 Just during COVID break i got to knew that my mental health is way too good at home rather than in college , it actually was the worst expression. I am in a dilemma right now, I am a CAT 22 aspirant, my graduation will be completed by June end, from the past 3 months, I have been interning at a startup remotely, now I received a job offer, I have not been able to manage my CAT prep properly with the Internship so far, and now that only 5 months are left, I should be focusing on CAT, but then there would be a gap year in my profile, and I do not want that, since I already have a gap year after 12th standard. I really want to manage both the job and cat prep, I am really confused, whether I should negotiate the timing of the job, and manage cat along with it or just focus solely on CAT? Having said that, if the joining can be delayed post Nov or as much as possible, that will surely help. You can ask them to defer it till July end at least so that you can pick up the pace in these few months.
Hey Kirti, I was just reading some comments and came across yours.. just want to give my two cents since I was in the exact same dilema a year back .. be it anything, don't leave your job. I am joining a premier B-school this year, so rest assured that the source is reliable. Not only did my job help me in getting shortlists and in interviews but it actually helps in reducing pressure during CAT exam itself. This is so because in the back of your mind you know that you have your job's safety net and that will eventually help you focus and prepare better for CAT. Also, work ex will give you extra confidence when you join the B-school. That's all! All the best for your future!

Hi Shweta, You mentioned that you got a shortlist from McKinsey. It would be great if you could share what made you get a shortlist in your case and what are the criteria that consulting firms look for in MBA candidates for shortlisting?
Most consulting firms prefer either great academic scores or spikes in CV (extraordinary achievements) In my case it was a bit of acads (10/96/8.7) and a bit of spikes (winning an international competition, rank 1 in a national finance olympiad). These must have helped in my opinion. Making a balanced CV can also help - do a bit of everything (internships, courses, take part in competitions) and try framing any spikes in a way the recruiters spot them easily! You can see a video on this channel titled "Make a CV that stands out" - that will help you for sure!
If someone with work experience wants to join, is the experience needed to be in management consulting only? Are students having pre-mba workex in other domains considered for shortlisting by MBBs? What is your experience/opinion regarding this?
@@AbhishekGupta-tf6bt Prior work-ex related to consulting (data analytics, research) can be of help but isn't necessarily going to get you the shortlists - if your acads aren't good chances are nothing can help other than spikes. But, if you have a good academic record and a diverse profile (be it academic-wise or work-ex-wise), you will actually be preferred. Like doctors, architects of my batch got shortlisted by consulting firms. Similarly folks from fashion design, folks from operations work-ex were preferred.

1. Never doubt yourself and compare yourself with others. Learn from others experiences and share your journey- Be Open to Interact & Learning.
2. Take Academics Seriously & Also be Smart (Blackbook - Previous year papers)
3. Be Change maker - Lead Clubs & Societies.
4. Do not quit team / project if there is any conflict, Raise your voice.
5. Network - Use your post placement time. MBA is all about connections.
6. Don't follow the herd. Do what u like. Inspire others. No need to follow Frenzy if your heart doesn't follow it. Eg. Career in Consulting
7. Live each day as if its your last day. Enjoy your MBA.

I've been recently watching a lot of your content and find it very unique for the simple reason that is very relatable. And when I say relatable, I would refrain from confining it to only the MBA journey scenes. I find it relatable to the everyday lives we lead and experience as it passes by.
There's no greater pleasure than knowing you've not been alone and will not be alone in the kind of headspace you get pushed into when you are a part of certain circumstances. All the instances you share specific to your experiences and how you look at them as mere learning milestones and not let them burden your soul is a perfect paradigm to overcome and sustain inevitable feelings of regret and grief. For these reasons, I see you not as a content creator or a youtuber but a friend I've always longed for. You can get a call from IIM-A at a higher-end CAT percentile, like 99.5+ - though work-ex can help make it more feasible.

Hey, according to Cracku percentile predictor - You need a percentile range of 80-95+ percentile overall and along with that a sectional of 70+%ile in the CAT Exam.
Personally would suggest you try for 95+ for a convert from Top 10 Institutes.

The first self doubt is valid for many. Two girls in my batch (pgp iima) were rank holders in their undergrad but finished at ranks more than 100 in the first year.

2018 batch of BTech i did the same first mistake you mentioned which actually spooled my whole 4 year program of BTech. Never felt like that i was made for that college or I'm one of those studing their and this psychological mistake is the root cause of almost everything being too lazy for classes , casual attitude , overthinking .🙂 Just during COVID break i got to knew that my mental health is way too good at home rather than in college , it actually was the worst expression.

I am in a dilemma right now, I am a CAT 22 aspirant, my graduation will be completed by June end, from the past 3 months, I have been interning at a startup remotely, now I received a job offer, I have not been able to manage my CAT prep properly with the Internship so far, and now that only 5 months are left, I should be focusing on CAT, but then there would be a gap year in my profile, and I do not want that, since I already have a gap year after 12th standard. I really want to manage both the job and cat prep, I am really confused, whether I should negotiate the timing of the job, and manage cat along with it or just focus solely on CAT?

Though the gap after graduation will be no hindrance in your profile, if you like the work and the startup, it's a better option to join it and manage CAT prep alongside, it will truly help you during interviews and learning at the B-school. Having said that, if the joining can be delayed post Nov or as much as possible, that will surely help.
You can ask them to defer it till July end at least so that you can pick up the pace in these few months.
Hey Kirti, I was just reading some comments and came across yours.. just want to give my two cents since I was in the exact same dilema a year back .. be it anything, don't leave your job. I am joining a premier B-school this year, so rest assured that the source is reliable. Not only did my job help me in getting shortlists and in interviews but it actually helps in reducing pressure during CAT exam itself. This is so because in the back of your mind you know that you have your job's safety net and that will eventually help you focus and prepare better for CAT. Also, work ex will give you extra confidence when you join the B-school. That's all! All the best for your future!

It would be great if you could share what made you get a shortlist in your case and what are the criteria that consulting firms look for in MBA candidates for shortlisting?
Most consulting firms prefer either great academic scores or spikes in CV (extraordinary achievements)
In my case it was a bit of acads (10/96/8.7) and a bit of spikes (winning an international competition, rank 1 in a national finance olympiad). These must have helped in my opinion.
Making a balanced CV can also help - do a bit of everything (internships, courses, take part in competitions) and try framing any spikes in a way the recruiters spot them easily! You can see a video on this channel titled "Make a CV that stands out" - that will help you for sure!

@@AbhishekGupta-tf6bt Prior work-ex related to consulting (data analytics, research) can be of help but isn't necessarily going to get you the shortlists - if your acads aren't good chances are nothing can help other than spikes. But, if you have a good academic record and a diverse profile (be it academic-wise or work-ex-wise), you will actually be preferred. Like doctors, architects of my batch got shortlisted by consulting firms. Similarly folks from fashion design, folks from operations work-ex were preferred.

You can get to know that by watching or listening to other people's experiences (many of them you'll find on YT, rest you can connect via LinkedIn). You can do courses in various fields, do an internship to figure out what broadly interests you.
