Yesterday I made my first bag from your plan for my cleaning lady. It was perfect. I then filled it with 2 lg. walla walla onions, a moderate sized bulb of garlic, 2 quarts of peaches, 2 pkgs. of stew beef, and an arm roast. The bag was full to the top. Your plan is very functional. We decided to not to cut off the several inches at the bottom. Thanks for your pattern and instruction! 💙
I would have kept those 2 inches on the bottom, more space is never too much. What got me interested is just having it in your purse at all times, handy and there when needed.
As soon as I saw your Fabrics I thought of Clemson University I live in South Carolina but I'm a Gamecocks fan so I would have done it in Garnet and Black. Thank you for the video it looks much easier than the other tote bags similar to yours❤
Thank you for another great tutorial! I am loving your choice of fabric colors 😍, your easy tips (using clips and straightening the fabric while sewing the curves) AND your sewing table! 🤗
I made my daughters the cart cover from Crafty Gemini for their babies. But it’s bulky so I made each of them one of these bags to put it in. This way they can keep it in their car. This bag was SO easy. Thank you!!
You are a good teacher. You took what looked like a kind of complicated technique and made it look so easy. Thank you for this video and your time to make it. 👍👏
I've made several large tote bags for my weekly grocery shopping but, I love having these handy in my purse for that quick stop at the store for just a few items. I've made several as gifts for my daughter and daughter-in-law, they love them too!
I've made tons of these bags, but the pattern I used called for an interfacing. Well that interfacing looks terrible after a while. I like this pattern so much better. Thank you for sharing Timothy!
I just love all the wonderful things you teach us!! I can see many gifts for all occasions to be able to give away. Thank you for being you and all you do!
I have watched a dozen or more videos on making foldable, reusable bags. So many had raw edges inside or the time consuming edge folded handles. This was just what I was looking for. I made it with no trouble at all. Thanks for a fantastic tutorial!
That’s very kind. I try to give different perspectives and spend more time explaining things. As much as I love those wordless three minute videos, they never explain what they’re doing!
I watched another RUclips video making the same kind of bag. Their instructions were not as clear as yours and I ended up sewing one of the folded sides after making the seam on the handles. Had to take it all out and then turned to your video to finish up. Thank you. Very good teacher.
This is so great. I've made similar ones only with one fabric not double. I prefer it light. It is easier to carry in your handbag.😂 so cute and its amazing how much space you have.
Очень понравилось индивидуальная, операционная, объяснительная работа пошива и глажение сумочки. Спасибо за видео! Удачи вам процветания канала! 🌊🐬А/м, г Приморск 🌊🐬.
I have the same machine as you and the sound it makes when I run it wide open down a long straight seam is the best thing ever! You make some of the best tutorials- detailed without moving too slow.
That’s my thought too! Most of my family are fortunate enough to have the things they need; so it’s fun to find useful things I can make with their favorite fabrics. Enjoy!
I can see putting a large carbiner in the pocket (not attached). Then, when using the bag, you could use the carbiner thru the handles and attach the bag to your belt (or whatever) for hands-free carrying. Definitely will be making one of these. ❤
Hello Tim🤗, I have to say, what a total pleasure it was to come across your channel this morning! Your teaching style is fantastic! I loved every minute of it!! I especially like like easy going & real your explanations are - like you’re talking with a friend! Also, the reality that this doesn’t need engineering precision - so people don’t stress out! I just subscribed & can’t wait to go back & watch your previous videos!! You’re a GREAT find!! Hope you have an awesome day!! Thank you!!
I so glad I found this tutorial in time for Christmas. I will make these and have them by the door for ppl to pack their presents on their way out. Love following your tutorial-you make it very simple to understand. Thank you. CHEERS and Happy holidays🎄
Here in CO, we are no longer offered plastic bags at stores so we have to take our own bags in when shopping. I have quite a few of these from IKEA, but it's good to know how to make them myself!
I am always amazed about how beautiful your rotary cutter works for you. I have to go over and over my material and it still leaves connecting threads; that is even with a new blade in it. Where can I get your rotary cutter?
Great tutorial, thank you! A word of advice for newbies like me: try to use similar (thin) fabric for the outside and the inside. On my very first bag I made the mistake of using a thicker one for the lining; and to make it worse it frayed like crazy!
Love this! Thank you. I had an idea that may or may not help. Could you possibly make an even wider pocket but put a tuck in it so the sewn-on width is the same but the pocket would be roomier? I may try this and let you know. Hope this makes sense
I have watched many tutorials on making these grocery bags. Yours is the easiest to follow. I have been looking for this type of bag not a tote bag with handles. If you don't mind me asking do you sell these? If you do could I ask how much you charge? I would like to sell these.
Fabric store people do not cut straight so much so that sometimes your measure is under and you get charged for what you asked for. I always measure my fabric.
I like your tutorial Tim! Your instructions were great. What is the content of the fabric you used? Twice I yelled, "French seam Tim!" And then you did. 😊 - Shiny Crafty Person (due to sunscreen)from Ohio.
@@timothytotten9409 No need to apologize you have helped just with that bit of info, I'm from Australia so I might have to do a little searching. Thank you again for your help and I hope you have a Smiley Day 😊
Clover has the original clips called Wonderclips and they come in 3 sizes, mini, regular and large. I love them as I am notorious for finding ways to injure myself or drop pins and not be able to find them. We have a couple of kitties that would find them.
This would make a great gift bag too. Put the gift in, tie the handles maybe add a ribbon and it's a bonus gift!

Wow is this a cool idea. Burrito bag. LOL. I cannot wait to make a bunch of these for gifts
This is a great video easy to follow. I will have to make one.
Thank you so much Timothy! I watched three ties and took notes. So I am ready to sew the twelve my friend ordered.
Thank you for another great tutorial! I am loving your choice of fabric colors 😍, your easy tips (using clips and straightening the fabric while sewing the curves) AND your sewing table! 🤗
Love it, you are so good explaining everything.
Thank you what an easy way to make this shopping bag 🪡🧵👍🏻👍🏻

They make such great gifts! Good job!
I like how the seams are encased. So finished looking.
I've made several for groceries, knitting. I used different size plastic bags as patterns, extra small to extra large. Fun stuff.
This is WONDERFUL !!!! I will be making these all year long as Christmas Gifts for Christmas 2024 !!!
Clever construction and so easy!
I have some absolutely darling fabric that will be perfect for these. Thanks again!
I have been making bags for the homeless and this pattern looks so much easier than making folded handles!!! Back to make more!!!

I love French seams for my bags. Double protection from opening up!
So true! I hadn’t thought of it like that, but it makes sense. I’ll have to point that out next time I use a French seam! Thanks.
I made these with a pattern book I purchased years ago. Your method is soooo much easier!
This is a great pattern, thanks so much 😊
You are an amazing teacher! I just made this and learned some new sewing skills too! Thank you!
Wonderful! I hope you skipped some of my mistakes lol
Timothy, this is very cute! Thank you for the tutorial. ❤
I want to make this bag in a couple of sizes! And thanks for making certain that the bottom seam is a strong one. 👍🏼

I found its much easier to SEW the cutout line first, then trim away the fabric from the inside of the opening. Thanks for the great pattern.

Suck a lovely useful bag. Beautiful colours.

I am always amazed about how beautiful your rotary cutter works for you. I have to go over and over my material and it still leaves connecting threads; that is even with a new blade in it. Where can I get your rotary cutter?
I use Olfa with Olfa blades. And replace regularly. But I also use a clean mat beneath and use plenty of pressure.
Try cleaning your mat with an eraser. You may need to tighten the screw too or slow down I find this happens to me if I try and cut too fast
Thanks, I love this project. I am a new subscriber and can't wait to see what else you have to teach us.

I would like to know what kind of sewing machine you have. It looks simple and very quick.
I use a Janome 1600p. Here’s a video about it: ruclips.net/video/TcB7nhR_dIc/видео.htmlsi=BYfyb8EG-gCqdwqH
Fabric store people do not cut straight so much so that sometimes your measure is under and you get charged for what you asked for. I always measure my fabric.
Good point!
This is one of your best tutorials! Congratulations! I'll be saving & making to sell. I wonder, what would be a good price to charge
What brand and model is your sewing machine? I just discovered your channel- it’s fantastic!!
I typically use a Janome 1600p. Here’s a video i made about it: ruclips.net/video/TcB7nhR_dIc/видео.htmlsi=fm887hReIlgY3fds

Love this method for having a nice lining! -does Mary know that you used her rotary cutter 😉?
Shhh! I usually use Lori’s but I was at a different station this time. Lol.
I love thiis

tim you mentioned cut the lenght 21" is the cut should be 20"? so total length open is 40"
It can be either. But yes, 40 makes sense.
I love this fabric I have a small piece left is it available I the UK please. Xx
This might be an odd question but, What type of clips do you use?
No idea. The kind they sell everywhere for sewing. Sorry I don’t remember where we got these.

Dont really need a pocket for groceries bag..I left pocket off, but love how bag looks
Hi there where do you buy your clips for holding the fabric thank you I’m going to make some for my friendsx
I think I just bought these on Amazon. Dozens of different sellers have them on that site.
Can you do a video on a reusable Xmas cinch top with a squared bottom bag and business card size reusable gift/ luggage tag.
Church bazaar item!!
That’s a great idea!
I would prefer the pocket inside and higher up. Now I see why the pocket is on the bottom…..
Do you mean to say Right side out?
@@Justme-Diana probably! I get mixed up sometimes. Thanks for catching that.
Is there a pattern for this bag
May God bless you. I wish you would write the dimensions on the screen or under the video clearly. You have my utmost respect and appreciation.
That’s a good tip! I’ll consider doing that for future videos.
I love sewing but a yard of fabric is around $10 now and a dollar store folding bag is around $2.
I would have left the extra amount on the bottom, it wasn't worth cutting off.
Good point.
ple ase tell the measurement
Almost to pretty to use for shopping but I sure will! Sounds like you have a cold…sniffing?
Oh yeah. Just getting over a respiratory infection. It was just at the “hanging on to annoy me” stage in this video. Lol
