    I'm very addicted to carbohydrates. And I always failed when starting the carnivore diet, I discovered that willpower was not enough to control myself in the face of the junk food that my husband and friends eat. I resisted for a maximum of a week and then I was there, eating pizza, ice cream, chocolate, etc. Since I can't stop other people from eating these things in front of me, I walked away from everyone. I went on a 30-day trip, went to a rural area, followed Mitch's tips and stuffed myself with meat, eggs and bacon. I came out of the addiction episode, and then I returned home. Now I can watch everyone eating their beloved junk food without feeling upset.

    • @RedErin
      @RedErin 3 месяца назад +16

      It’s not even willpower, these foods are designed to activate the pleasure centers of the brain. It is nearly impossible to override the body’s desire to survive at any cost. We think we can outthink that because we have knowledge, but the body is separate from that. You did very well for yourself figuring out what would give you enough of a break from those foods, and build up nutrition stores in your body so it doesn’t get tricked by scientifically altered foods and chemicals.

      @@hillbillyjo I have issues with milk, both in terms of inflammation and addiction. I avoid dairy in general, only butter which I still consume, but not in large quantities either. Unfortunately, where I live, raw milk dairy products are prohibited by law, so pasteurized butter doesn't suit me so well.

    Hello Everyone. My name is Mairwyn and I am a Carb Addict. I have been a Carnivore since 1 January 2024 and I recognised my addiction within the first month. I will always be ONE HERSHYS KISS AWAY from falling off the wagon. I know it. I embrace it. What keeps me strong is the distance that I will create between me and the pain that I constantly live with because of the inflammation that NON MEAT food has created. The buck stops with me. I am responsible for putting the food in my mouth. I am the one that always caved in to my addiction. I also embrace that and use that as a tool to create more distance between me and the pain. You have to want it. To want it, you have to be honest with yourself and take a good hard look at yourself. Eating meat is easy. The hard work is the emotional and mental journey. If you want it hard enough, you will face that emotional and mental journey HEAD ON and you WILL win in the end!!!! But you HAVE to WANT IT!!!!

    Hi, Mitch. I agree with you on many things (most) but, for you to say if you live with people that eat carbs you are not a carb addict, in my opinion you’re wrong there. I’m an alcoholic, I’ve obstained from alcohol for 42 years, a without a drop. I’ve been battling food/carb addiction all my life losing the battle many times. Going from 210 and in shape after the Army to 320 and up and down. I even went to Overeaters Anonymous for a few years trying to figure it out. I went on Keto a few years ago got down to 200, and then got sucked into the keto snacks. I gained back to 270😢. My point is, I live with my wife and 9 year old son. They are very picky eaters and sugar carb addicts. Neither are overweight, but if my wife continues she will be a diabetic soon. I cook, for them as I’m retired and my wife works. I’m 120 days carnivore. Last month I did the Lion Diet. Maybe I’m the exception, but I haven’t cheated not even once. Just, as in alcohol I know I can’t have one bite of carbs. On carnivore, I’m down to my goal weight of 190, I’m 63, 6’3 1/2, and off all my medications including heart medications. I don’t have cravings. I’m hoping I can lead by example for them, but they have to make their own choices. Anyway, I’m a carb addict and live with people that eat carbs and we have carbs in the house. I agree, abstinence is the only way and it works. Sorry for the long message, just laying it out. I appreciate all you do. Thanks Mitch!

    I am the only carnivore in my house with my wife and 3 girls. They drink sodas, sweet breads, pizza, you name it. And I eat meat. Ya gotta have a set jaw to do it. My wife eats more meat today than ever and she is liking it. But as an Asian lady, rice is in her blood, it's cultural, and family to her. I've seen her or the girls eat a half pound of rice with fish and vinegar. I eat the fish, and hot dogs, eggs. Don't do the rest. It's tough, but you gotta set your hat and press on.

It is best to never have the object of your addiction at arms length as you may find yourself putting it inside you and never remember having made the decision to do so. 32 years sober, low carb many times, 2 months carnivore. I love this. I agree with you 100%, Mitch. It is truly an addiction. I wish I could live in a carb-free house, but my husband is a carbivore so they’re everywhere. He doesn’t force me to eat carbs. He’s actually rather conscious of what I’m trying to do, and he always makes sure something is pulled from the freezer that I can eat, if I’m away from the house, but I do still cave at times. Also, extended family gatherings are carbohydrate land mines. I don’t know anybody in real life who is a carnivore. Except for watching videos I’m on my own. But I’m actually doing ok and feel grateful. Over time my ability to ignore carbs has grown. They’re still there, though, calling to me, even though I know they will make me feel unwell.

    i bake my bacon in the oven on parchment paper. No splatter and no having to supervise or man the stove.
    Just pop it in at 350 and set your timer for about 15-20 minutes-ish. kinda depends on your oven, how thick the bacon is and how crispy you like it but once you've got the timing down you just set it and forget it.

As of this morning 5/20/2024 I weighed in at 166 lbs, that is -66 lbs in 8-months just by diet alone! On carnivore alone I can not even express the positive changes, my T-Levels are through the roof, I feel smarter, sharper, quicker, I feel like a man, a meat eating savage! LOVE IT! I've been saying for some time that mankind's greatest challenge is addiction. It has
    become the modern version of human bondage, and certain groups quickly saw the
    profit potential in subtle addiction promotion. They have created this ubiquitous lie
    and even succeeded in deluding and gaslighting themselves to the point where simple narrative can get mankind to mindlessly self inflict all manner of harm and usury.
    This is the world a carnivore must live in, where all around us prefer to remain in a supposed blissful ignorance and social conformity to shared misery and unavoidable illness.
    I'm realizing how profoundly comprehensive an act it is to become carnivore, and

    Yes, the thought of having to make anything other than simple essential food just seems to be too much anymore. Why add cottage cheese back just to make some kind of egg flatbread seems like a waste of time and carbs. Why add those things back in.

    In two days I will have 6 months on carnivore and yes, I would still like to eat 1/2 a pie, and a half a carton ice cream ,Dozen doughnut holes. go back to my 5 Cokes a day Like I used to do. It was easier to give up my alcohol than it was to give up my sugar addiction to this day after every meal I wonder what I can have for a dessert but it's not going to happen. Eagle

    I’ve tried 1,000 times to moderate my carb intake. I always fail. I envy you, Mitch, that you don’t have to have carbs in your house. Hubby has bread, crackers, fruits, jams etc and isn’t overweight. But he has horrible inflammation and heart disease. Terrible migraines, but he’s too afraid of fat to go carnivore.

      Hi Hannah.......ditch the tinned sardines, full of toxins. The very high temperatures used for canning induces marine lipid oxidation in canned fish and affects its quality. Plus there's toxic BPA plastic in the tin liners. Also, avoid all farmed salmon which is toxic.

    My names Janna I'm a recovering alcoholic & drug, Carb/Sugar addict. One is to many an a thousand is never enough. It takes 90 days repetition to change a habit. I did AA, narcotics anonymous, now feb 19, 2024 started carnivore 98% day 85, lost 5 inches waist, 20lbs, I'm struggling with my T2D,etc.. the RXS I was proscribed was making my sugar uncontrollable, but I'm in for the long haul. Like Mitch said nothing else worked for me either. I'm 62 yr old female an it will take my body longer to heal because I'm sicker inside. I enjoy the encouraging words from Mitch Daily. Love your shirt also.❤ thanks for sharing your breakfast every morning with us!🤟🇺🇸🍗🍖🥓🥚

    Does anyone have thoughts on milk/cheese on carnivore? I've done carnivore for months at a time in the past and am about to fully commit to it. Milk/cheese seems like a good source of fat and other nutrients, right?

    • @OldGuyCarnivore
      @OldGuyCarnivore  3 месяца назад +1

      Dairy seems like an individual thing, some people do well, others don't. If you do dairy, it should be high-fat Dairy like butter cheese or heavy cream. Most people that don't use Dairy, like me, still use butter to add fat. Some people find cheese to become addictive. I guess you just have to experiment and see what works for you
