I bought a 2022 v8 wagoneer series 2 4x4, extremely happy with it it.
LOVE the 6.4! Seems like Jeep is giving the best of both worlds, at least until the 6.4 disappears, sadly.
I'm way more interested in the new i6 they put in this than the actual SUV itself. I think that hurricane is super cool.

I can't believe that thing does a 4.9 second 0 to 60 with the twin turbo 6 cylinder. I am from a generation where a sub 6 second 0 to 60 was a huge number.

I'm impressed they are using an inline 6 gasoline engine. Hope it's reliable.
@@mediocreman2 Inline sixes by their very nature and structure are more resistant to blown head gaskets that's why they use them in big diesel trucks all the time with turbochargers. One of the biggest problems Chrysler has had is their electrical systems and blown head gaskets in their v6s, so if they got that worked out that will be a good start.

The fact that it maintains its speed and time through the quarter is even more impressive for such a humongous rig.
I'm not a fan of Jeep but I have to give credit where it's due. These are very nice looking vehicles with amazing performance... and the design has grown on me somewhat. Dare I say the L actually looks better than the standard Wagoneer? Proportions are a touch more pleasing imo. That turbo 6 is a beast! As long as it and these premium materials hold up over time, I'd say Jeep has a hit!

The problem with the Turbo 3.0L Inline Six (just like the EcoBoost engines) is that the turbos are going to cost you an arm and a leg 🦵 for repairs and majority of turbo engines ingeneral aren't known for reliability as well.

Been watching motor week since I was a kid, always great stuff from John Davis and the team.
I owned a 2022 Grand Wagoneer Series III. When things went wrong the service and level of care for a 120k truck was horrible. My “loaner” was often a Jeep Compass or Renegade. The concierge was all talk. I have three Jeep Dealers in within 30 minutes 2 didn’t offer loaners at all and the one who was “ wagoneer certified” did everything in their power to give the car back the next day with unable to find problem diagnoses. Finally after 10 service attempts and 60 days out of service Jeep (took) the vehicle back. At least with Cadillac Lincoln etc they understand you paid 120k. Jeep dealers could care less

That sucks. I wonder what the build date for yours was. Some have said if it was built after January 2022 a lot of the kinks had been worked out. Quality control and poor service experience are probably the two biggest ongoing complaints/issues with Jeep.
@@MIZUNOMP60 Agreed. I've found pretty sub-standard dealer service with my wife's Genesis GV80 as well. Selling premium vehicles through non-premium dealer networks usually has a predictably negative outcome for the consumer.
Stop exaggerating, I have a wagoneer that I daily drive and abuse. Zero issues.

That’s a pretty L monthly payment. For a Jeep? That 💩 will be in the shop every other week. 🤦🏼♂️

That hurricane motor has to be putting out some SERIOUS power to move that 7000lb lead sled at stock 335i times... Apparently this engine is reliable even when laid almost flat on its side...
i was wondering if he remembers doing the grand wagoneer review back in 1983-84...and then i saw his reveiew video on the rear seat screen. that guy has been doing this for 40 or more years
Sat in one at the NY Autoshow and it was so nice inside compared to the Chevrolet Suburban. Though, it probably is meant to compete with the Cadillac variant.

Only thing I don’t care for is the side profile. Looks dorky to me. Otherwise it’s a very good first effort. Inside is very well done and super comfortable.
I don’t care for the side view of it either, the suburban looks a lot like it also. It reminds me of a hearse..

A six ton brick with a twin turbo six that does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. That shouldn't even be physically possible but yet somehow it is. Wow.
Lol, it's curb weight 6600 lbs. That's only 3.5 tons...
The styling hasn't grown on me yet. I wish there was a Chrysler version of this.
I'd hate to be the second or third owner of one of these with the thousands of things that are going to break and be jaw droppingly expensive, if not impossible to fix.
Next to the G-Wagon, this is a rolling file cabinet.
As for the MPG, if you can afford this, then the price of gas is probably not a worry for you.
the exterior looks a lot more natural to me than the short wheelbase. was this how it was intended to be all along?
I believe this thing actually takes the Jeep brand to new longer lengths 😜

Im not a Jeep man but they got it right on this Grand Wagoneer, ,8 passenger and huge cargo space thats what did it for me. Gonna have to go check one out for myself, just hope their reliability issues have been dealt with
I had the SO Hurricane 6 and got high 19’s with the regular length. I have the JGW regular length now…. I haven’t had a road trip yet, ut good to know the MPG’s should be about the same…..the extra performance of the HO would be slightly offset by the regular length weight. This appears to be Jeeps 1st attempt at a TT six and so far appears to be a hit. I can’t speak for 100-200K miles from now, but want to remain optimistic. For such a large vehicle…( let’s face it a $120K living room) the performance is there. 18-20 MPG with about 85-90% mountainous terrain with a pretty steady mid 70’s cruising speed…..traffic flow but not enough to attract unwanted attention by state troopers.
Ride is comfortable and very good work with sound deadening materials. A few minor ergonomic issues, but manageable and some is the learning curve and some…..WTF designers/ engineers were you thinking……..a few examples below.
Adaptive Cruise Control…..I get it and a good safety feature but,……..don’t make it the default and only option…..(JGW/-L). Allow drivers that DO enjoy the driving experience ……………and drivers that actually do pay attention to the road, not a last ditch effort to avoid collision due to drivers negligence or distracted drivers.
2. Related to the cruise……. Speed setting in the instrument cluster is way too small font…..high potential you collision due to looking away. Use the speedometer reading and….’trim’ the speed with the speed +/- button on the steering wheel.
3, This is not only Stellantis thing, but a common trend and quite stupid and potentially dangerous…….. Lack of contrast on displays……example white background and very light text, which make it very hard to read even with 20/20 vision……use common sense!!! You know cruise control is most likely to be used at interstate highways….provide contrast….. partner with Crayola, they probably have a million color combinations…..We only need about a dozen.
Lack of retractable privacy shade for NON L models….at least provide the locking tabs on the fender well to mount and have the owners take the liability……even the NON L models as of last check only made the covers for behind the 3rd row……there are customers like T ne….keep 3rd row retracted about 95% of the time.
Not a fan of the haptic buttons for secondary controls…..to easy to accidentally press and patiently activate a system not needed or wanted. Move them up and reduce the risk.
Even with these issues, still a very decent vehicle and good to see the name return.
Not withstanding the vehicles they review, the countryside they drive them in looks heavenly. Winding country roads with lush green fields aplenty. That is truly the "American Dream"

As a Mopar man I want to like this thing but the design is such a hodgepodge of lines and shapes. To me this is gonna be Jeep Commander 2.0-gone in a few years. I too am AMAZED at the performance of the 6!
In what world is 14MPG on Premium gasoline "fine" ? Motorweek's world... where they take your $$$ and read out whatever script you send then.
It was their test loop average of 18.9 they described as “fine.” They nearly achieved the highway EPA estimate on their loop, thus labeling it as “fine.”

Interiors are beautiful except for that blinker switch or Cruz switch. I forgot which one it was. They literally have an amazing interior, except for that switch on the column.
Exterior already looks dated.
Crazy how that time beat my 1990 Mustang LX 5.0 1/4 time. Back then I thought I was the fastest thing on the track.

That gas mileage is still abysmal, v8 or no, especially with current gas prices. I had an '87 Caprice Classic with a 305 4 barrel that got 25 on the highway. Might as well drive a nice Crown Vic and enjoy the comfort of a luxury cruiser😁
Anything less than 30 is abysmal.
@@Tuppoo94 In 2022, yes, you are correct. Motorists should buy cars unless they really need a truck to haul or do serious off roading or blizzard conditions driving. A truck as a second vehicle makes sense, but with a car for most driving
Amen Brother and not to mention that 4.6L SOHC 2V Modular V8 in the Crownvic will definitely outlast that overpriced Jeep with a turbo Inline Six.
This has 2.5 times the power of that old Caprice, carrying nearly 3k more in poundage.

Yeah till it breaks and costs you a fortune to replace those turbos and not to mention that it's gets the same MPG as my 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it.
@@CJColvin boy stop 🛑 your 2011 Coyote has “360 horsepower @ 5500rpm
380lb-ft of torque @ 4250rpm” which is less power than the 5.7l hemi. If you want to compare, you compare it to the Standard Output Hurricane that has 420hp & 475lbft and that gets 16/22 with four wheel drive. Beating your F150. Did you really compare of motor that has 150 HP & 120lbft more power than your coyote? 😆😂🤦🏾♂️

Hp and 120 more torque than your F150. The one that compares to Your F150 still has more power and way more efficient than your F150

4:20 you’d think that the air suspension should sort out the squat. It looks like a boat trying to get on plain. Plus the camber Of the front tires in a 0-60 look dangerous. They’re practically lifting off the pavement.

@@231mac more like Mopar as this was developed by the Chrysler side of the business and has been in development since the Pentastar became the standard motor for all RWD models. Not to mention it’s being sold as a Crate motor by Mopar…

The naming is confusing. For the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, “Grand” tells you that the vehicle is bigger and more expensive. But the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are the same size, and both have L trims for a long wheelbase version. So “Grand” only tells you that one vehicle has more options than the other? But then why not have one model with more trim levels? I don’t understand why they made it so complicated. At this price point, like it or not, people like to buy something that other people easily recognize as being of a certain class and all these muddled names makes it too confusing
I agree. I've said from the beginning that the branding Jeep chose was terrible. There never should have been a regular "Wagoneer" that competes with Chevy Tahoes in the first place since it looks nearly identical to the six figure "Grand Wagoneer" on the outside that competes with Escalades. And both look too much like a lowly Grand Cherokee from the front to me. Should have made the door handle inserts or the Grand Wagoneer lettering on the front doors out of wood as a throwback to the original too. Impressive performance and interior but ultimately I think Chrysler/Stellantis kind of botched this truck.
No Grand always meant Grander, as in upper class, more luxurious
I think for The L, Mega Wagoneer could have worked in place of Grand....to separate it from the Regular Grand Wagoneers

It’s mentioned at least twice, which should benefit ride and handling.
It should also be able to raise height a couple inches if needed.

On the road, the vertical proportions are off to me. And it looks like a Honda pilot from a generation back. Performance is nuts and that interior is pretty nice looking.

Likely $108K. It was a Series II, which is not the fully decked out model. Still a LOT of coin, but this is a LOT of truck. I suspect they won't have any issue selling them.
@@hellkitty1014 they already outsell fords line of Expeditions, both standard and long. Before the Wagoneer Ls began production.
I can't say I'd ever buy a Stellantis product, but if I had the pennies and was looking for something in this segment, this might be hard to avoid looking at.
The only way any Jeep can get 19 mpg is if you dropped it from a plane 19 miles high.

This overpriced Jeep gets the same MPG as my 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 while being more reliable than this Jeep (since my truck has a NA V8 and this Jeep has a turbo Inline Six).

Yes! But most PHEVs tend to be smaller vehicles. Unless you include the German brands.
Hold up. A 1990 Nissan 300z with a 3 liter twin turbo v6 made 300 hp @ 6400 rpm. This thing has a 3 liter twin turbo inline 6 making 500 hp @ 5700 rpm? People said Ford was boosting the hell out of my 2016 F150 2.7 liter twin turbo v6. It made 325 hp @ 5750 rpm.
510 HP and the 25' RAM RHO and limited trims make 540 HP.

After many years behind the Europeans, American industry seems to be returning to its glory years. Mainly Chrysler.
I guarantee it won't last 50,000 miles before that new 3.0 twin-turbo 6 blows up with all the strain it'll be under.
And for what? Only 1 mpg better than the 6.4 V8? Pullease! I've seen some Suburbans with the 6.2 V8 average over 20 mpg.
The EPA is out of touch with everyday real-world driving habits.
No the hurricane was made with HD internals for turbocharging, it was designed for them
I have one and get 18-19 around town, 23-24 highway.
