Test drove this model.
Best driving SUV I have ever driven. Soaks up bumps without that irritating thump,thump from the tires when they hit a bump. Turning dynamics is excellent. Power roars when you punch the gas,but has a quiet rumble when cruising.
Interior quality is right up there with the best.
If I could afford this ride, gas consumption
is not an issue.
Definitely at the top of my list.

Got this and the X7. Love the room and interior in the GW, but the ride quality / comfort in the X7 is noticeably better. The X7 also feels like a sedan when driving it right after the GW. It's hard to mask the body on frame construction and the 6k lb curb weight.
It's only 110k for a fiat Chrysler when in reality its just cheap junk that cost Chrysler like 20k to make if that

I'm glad we can all agree to disagree because I actually think this large SUV looks amazing. Better in fact then it's competition imo. Also really like that 6.4l engine. Overall, I would never pay 100k for a 18mpg house on wheels.

It’s absolutely unacceptable for manufacturers to be putting out glitchy screens for 110k.
If the Stellantis people are anywhere worth their 🧂 would be taking notes a month ago after Doug gave back that PRESS CAR. Believe it or not, should be a condition on the loan that the reviewer put some "notes" so the manufacturer can take care or any problems noted.

I feel like Richard, James, and Jeremy need to make an episode where the grand tour across the US in the Grand Wagoneer, the Escalade, and the Navigator
I just drove one of these for a week all over Forth Worth, TX for business. I am in love with this SUV, and all my passengers were digging it also. It truly is massive yet drives like a small sporty turbo SUV. The handling, interior styling, comfort and infotainment system are so plush. Sport mode is fabulous for zipping around town and passing on the highway. You can easily jump to 100+ mph to quickly pass a slower driver, and it feels like you're still doing 45 mph...and the brakes grab like cold thick peanut butter. If you have the money to consider buying one of these, then gas price is very likely not a factor. It gets about the same mpg as an old 2010 Toyota Tundra 5.7L pick up I have, so whatever.
This is going to be a joy outta warranty

With 13-18 miles per gallon ? People will want them but, it would cost too much to drive. And 13mpg is when it's NEW, think of the mileage you get when it has 100K on it... This is not the car for a "road trip"
People will want them but, the cost driving them will be a turn off...never mind it's a Jeep product that does not have a good history of reliability after higher miles.
At least it'll likely still be running/driving well past 100k miles unlike the high end German stuff which will likely have broken timing chains and other weird catastrophic drivetrain failures by then, most of which usually cause them to be "mechanically totaled". Half the electronics in this thing will likely be glitchy/broken in 10 years but at least the Hemi drivetrain is proven, plus it has little complexity which means cheap to fix and easy to work on, so there's an upside.

I got to test drive one and the first thing I noticed, and glad Doug brought it up, is that it drives so much smaller then it is.
People can say whatever they want but I love it. It feels nostalgic for me, and especially as someone that's always loved SUVs but also HATES the way most modern SUVs look, this is an awesome design because it feels like a throwback to a different era. I've watched all my favorite SUV brands get progressively uglier over the last 10 years, so there's something classic about this that I love, while also managing to be modern as well.

I've never been into luxury vehicles but I'm in love with the interior of these. I could see myself in one of these in a Forest Green color

I Own a Wagoneer. Power,gas mileage, affordability are impressive. The comfort for the size is incredible!! Wagoneer is better value than Grand Wagoneer for sure because you pay almost $40k more for unnecessary tech and poor gas mileage! My Wagoneer is amazing! Many friends have ridden in its Limo style comfort and praise it every time. For $75k it can’t be beat and the 395 HP engine is stronger and faster than pretty much everyone in its class in Sport mode! Comfort and affordability are unmatched!!
I rented one of these from Hertz last week. 2022 Wagoneer w/ 5.7 V8 spec III. Drove it ~500 miles in all conditions. I gotta say, it was a magic carpet! I was very impressed.
My parents didn’t need a camera in our 1977 Mercury Colony Park: It came with magic. They just knew.

It's all a matter of time before Chrysler takes the remaining leftover Hellcat motors and drops them into this. It'll be the first full size luxury SUV to have a trans brake, drag radials & rear seat(s) delete as a build option.

I had a 1980 AMC Jeep Wagoneer in the 80's . Never worried about snow and muddy dirt roads in Pennsylvania. I guess this Jeep Wagoneer will not see those types of road. I had a AMC Jeep pickup at the same time. I used it to rescue vehicles stuck in snow fun vehicle to drive in very bad weather.
These day if just get proper tires you can go anywhere in a car pretty quickly because the science that went into the rubber compound.
The rear-seat infotainment system depicts a red wagoneer when this one is clearly white, making it pretty much undrivable.

@@John_Hoover Fun fact: Honda has had "How much further" in the Pilot and Odyssey for at least 3-4 years now. Honda does a lot of subtle things (meaning they don't seem to advertise it) that others seem to copy a few years later. LaneWatch is another that came out way back in 2014. Kia/Hyundai now offer it on all their top end stuff.
@@John_Hoover Yea, it would be a nice feature if it extended from Apple Carplay or Android Auto. As 90% of factory Navigation systems are outdated by the day you buy the car. Using Carplay, you get the newest Waze and other features, a true internet connected car.

You all know I'm kidding right? It's just a really big vehicle. I wouldn't mind having one myself...it's just...big, lol.
I worked at a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealer up until recently, and Chrysler corporate brought a few pre-production models to the dealership a couple months ago for part of their Wagoneer training course thing. It was a huge pain in the ass, 4+ hours of listening to corporate representatives tell us not only how great the car was but how the buyers for this vehicle would NOT be the customers we were used to, and that we'd basically have to act like Q from 007 when we were showing this car off to interested buyers. That being said, this thing kicks ass. The interior feels like you're sitting in an intimidatingly well-furnished living room, the sound system is bananas, and I forget what the specifics were but the work they've done on the engine/suspension made it feel like I was driving my old 08' 4Runner and not a land yacht full of Amazon prime tablets. I nearly shit myself because I just gotten over the heads-up-display on the windshield when the seat decided it was time to start aggressively massaging my ass and lower back. Cool car tho. They brought the new Lincoln Navigator and Escalade and both cars felt heavier and less enjoyable to drive than the Wagoneer.
I mean at Mercedes-Benz, we did full product demos. But tech in Mercedes-Benz has been up there, so guess we’re just use to that demographic

Those cars have been out for awhile and they beat out this new SUV for less price interior wise, but I’ve never been inside this new wagoneer by Jeep/Chrysler

It looks weird but in person it looks very impressive. The new GM vehicles- Yukon, Escalade, suburban, have some of the greatest styling I have seen recently. They look strong, mean, fast, and everything in between.
Love your reviews. And here I thought the wildest thing was the fridge in the center console. I am not surprised that one of the screens is glitchy, wouldn't be a Chrysler product without something being off 😉. This is by far the most software integration I have ever seen from them yet, would have never expected the kids road trip app. IIRC they had to design a new rear axle for this program, with 8 pass and 1300 lbs labeled payload, Top trim level curb weight of 6420, and the 10000 lbs towing with 10% tongue load; that a lot of rear axle load lol. Kind of needs the 6.4L engine just to do all that smoothly.
This thing is worth a 1/3 of my house and will probably depreciate faster than the 2009 market crash

I got a 2022 G wag S3 and I can say it’s still going strong, love the thing.. got 52,000kms on it now and it’s been through 2 Alberta winters… no problems driving around or starting at -45c 😅

@@benbellino3596 that depends on what you like to call it. Some people just simply call em mirrors, some will just say rear view mirror. And some like to be specific so they call the inside one Inside Rear View Mirror (IRVM) and the outside ones Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs).

Yea. Keep volume and climate control as buttons and dials. All the other stuff like music and navigation is fine on a screen, but going through 4 menus because your balls are sweaty sucks ass

Touch buttons have a nice feel.
My buddy had a Wagoneer back in the day. His had the wood grain sides. I think Jeep could have really brought it home with that option. This would be really cool to see.

There is i saw one with woody wrap on sides, but it was for commertial in saudi but they said its officially made for the amircan market.

This car was clearly built with 2020 gas prices in mind though. I don't care how much money you make, paying 3.50 or more a gallon on a car that gets 13 mpg and takes 27 gallons to fill is going to suck. If you live in California though, this thing will cost $150 to fill up. Hopefully gas prices go back down.

I have a 2018 Jeep and the screen has started to have fluid under it from having the screen cleaned. I’d be furious in a $110,000 vehicle.
Too bad they haven’t come out with screens where you don’t have to touch the screen. It sees where your finger is headed and knows what you want to press before you do.

You can get matte (aka anti-glare or non-glossy) screen protectors for most cars. This will reduce if not eliminate the appearance of fingerprints on those screens. It will also help to reduce glare/reflections at the cost of some clarity (colors will not appear as vibrant ).
I always think Doug should give a bit of dusting before he films interior
They really need an optional, dealer-installed exterior wood trim package.
I was surprised they didn't offer something like a "legacy trim/option" including exactly that.

I'm going to be honest I absolutely adore this jeep, the Interior is absolutely gorgeous, the design is quite handsome, boxy but not harsh.

Hi! Thank you so much for the great and informative car reviews! I was wondering if you could make an update review on the grand wagoner, it was my understanding that you actually own one? We have been hearing some mixed reviews about issues with the tech in the vehicle such as heating seats not working, connectivity issues and such. Have you had any of those issues or any other issues you have noticed after driving it long term?
Doug does not have a grand wagoneer, nor did he at any point. He is down to 6 cars and last month bought a Toyota Sequoia.

As someone who loves EVs, I'm glad they didn't try to make this hybrid or even turbo. First of all it's not Jeep's core competency. Their regular naturally aspirated gas engines are actually pretty reliable and I have a feeling if they tried to get too crazy to give you a couple more mpg that wouldn't be the case and they know it. The main reason is it would hinder the towing capacity. Most hybrid transmissions can't handle 10,000 pounds. You're not buying this car to be a commuter car, you're driving to soccer practice and an annual road trip.
Still gets better mpg then me. Im getting 14 on the highway. As for the looks. I saw them when bought my 14 wrangler unlimited. I like how they look and feel they look the price. But its hard to get over that its a jeep and paying that much for 1. But this video has shown the justification and now i want 1.
Jeep needs to roll out a $3000 optional wood trim exterior package!

YES! I think a cool and modern way Jeep could have included it without overkill would have been making the "Grand Wagoneer" letters on the front doors out of wood, OR just putting some wood on the exterior door handles. I think Jeep missed a big opportunity here.

@@RJ-xj3ct nothing special. Klipsch SPL 150s. There’s def better subs out there but I wanted them to match my speakers. Together they pack quite a punch with 1600w peak power.
It looks great, not the same common usual look as all other large SUV’s. Wouldn’t sell as well as it does for its high price if it looked any differently.
One passed me today and I have say it looked really sharp and the stereo was very loud

Edit: also, I *hate* these all-touch infotainment systems we're seeing. At least there's a physical volume control, but I can't see myself ever wanting more screen space in my car than I have in my bedroom.

That thing is cheaply made, and even Doug just said how cheaply made the turn signal switch is! Wait till it comes out, and see how much it gets dinged with recalls, and electrical gremlins! It's a f*cking Chrysler product, and all they're doing is monopolizing off the Grand Wagoneer's name! The starting price is $110,000+, but they'll make many that price, they'll force you to buy the pricier trims, like the stunt Ford is notorious for.

Jeep being somewhat the underdog in a segment they rly shouldn't even be is really shown. Interior quality, material, design is pretty good when looking at the competitors.
The competition is bmw Land Rover Mercedes , you’re telling me from this video alone you can tell this is up to par? 😅 have you ever driven or sat in this or any of its competitors? I have and yes it’s nice but as soon as I get back in my x7 it is very clear which vehicle is worth the price tag. Also 100k jeep makes 0 sense 0 mainstream brand is not luxury period no matter what price you add to it. Remember it’s based heavily on a ram 1500 platform, is that a luxury vehicle?
Imagine if they looked at the original and said let’s just improve the gas mileage , safety, and radio. It would cost half and sell three times as much. Instead we get a mobile studio.
