It's important to know that a lot has changed since this video, and I'd currently recommend playing 3 with immortal empires, which combines the campaigns of 1 and 2 for free if you own 3. That said, if you own the first two it does give you more factions to play, so there's no harm in having them too. The issues with DLC are valid, though it does seem like they're taking the criticism and working on it. I still think the prices are a bit much, but they've committed to adding more content to them.
I'd still say to wait half a year or even a year and see how it goes. Their threats to 3K twwh3 certainly weren't very reassuring and their pace of bugfixing is still very subpar. At least we can know for sure that Hyenas is not leeching off budget and devs from total war at least. I mean, right now total warhammer 2 is the best deal and you will want it anyway for immortal empires, so unless you really want to play some specific faction from wh3 you would be better off bying wh2 and dlcs.
@@lich109 When they first released the latest DLC it was overpriced, had little content and was broken on top of the game already being broken with bugs that were known ever since the release of the game and still were not being fixed. In their infinite wisdom CA released a statement that basically said "our costs are up, if you won't buy our overpriced content we won't have funds to support the game". (And also there was a lot of other bullshit like them trying to ban "Non-constructive criticism and doomsaying" both on their own forums and on the WH3 steam forums.) This was also around the time when their upcoming "fortnight killer" multiplayer shooter "Hyenas", which had a much larger team and budget than Wh3, got outright canceled and scrapped by Sega because it was so bad and nobody in the community gave a single fuck about it. Why wait: Right now CA seems to be on a "redemption" arc, retroactively adding content to the dlc, but the rate of bugfixing is still not perfect (though they did seem to put more people on it to their credit). But I would like to see if this new heading will last or if they will go back to cutting corners. Plus there is always the possibility of 3k route of the game being dropped all of a sudden despite being pretty popular among players. Basically just watch and see if they are actually trying to fix their shit or if their management will try to squeeze as much as possible from wh3 before dropping it.
@@delivererofdarknessshoguno1133 I don't see these "threats" you're talking about, and do you have examples of these bugs? Just saying "bugs" doesn't illustrate your point.
If you're interested in more Warhammer total war content guaranteed to get a laugh or twelve, I'd recommend Cody Bonds "Noobs Guides" for Warhammer Total War.
This is going to be a long comment, but this is a long review and a lot is different from how the game was at launch. I highly disagree with Warhammer 3 not being in a great state, even before the patch that came out yesterday. People's expectations for the series by this point are through the roof, so when there's a DLC that is worse than the recent DLC's people act as if the world is ending, even though it's still objectively better than the original DLC's (and arguably some game 2 DLC's). This negativity has caused people to be extremely critical to every aspect of the game and when they see anything they don't like they act as if the game is garbage. People also act as if the game is bad because the devs weren't able to keep up with the roadmap they posted, as if delaying an update somehow makes the existing game play worse. Don't get me wrong, there are still some issues, like CA increasing the price for their most recent DLC (they added free stuff to bring it up to what the community felt should be in it), but at this point the issues are minor and the developers have had a good dialogue about fixing them not only by putting out community posts, but also by announcing free DLC's. To further elaborate, using as artwork as an example, CA did fix issues like this by bringing back the artwork for each group, however the vocal minority acts as if fixes like that and a lot of other fixes (most of what Mandalore fairly criticises is fixed) never happened. I'm not going to defend the launch, it was a bad launch, however the current game is nothing like that. To address the complaint regarding the appearance of the map, in Warhammer 3, Cathay looks a lot more basic whereas the Empire is still mostly forest, it doesn't give you that kind of whiplash when you play it, or at least it didn't to me. I highly disagree that it looks like Civ 6, the only nation in the game that looks like that is Cathay, everyone else is a lot more detailed. Also in fairness to the Hussars, Warhammer Fantasy bundles a lot of disparate cultures. For example, Bretonnia is a mix of medieval French and English despite how often the two fought, and they're a French King Arthurian kingdom, even though that's an oxymoron. I wish the chatter who complained about the maps listed an example because I've got no clue which map they're talking about. The AI has received a ton of patches and I can't recall any where they're still broken. At worst they just make poor plays (like accidentally moving the melee units too far from their ranged, allowing you to catch them out if position). The AI is not what I'd call a skilled player at city battles, but all of the issues Mandalore lists with the AI in that section of his review are no longer present.

The addition to the DLC came out and nearly doubled the amount of content, which certainly helps.
