The opera is based on the Nibelungenlied (Song of the Nibelungs) and Völsunga Saga (Saga of the Völsungs), so based on Norse-Germanic myths. I'm Belgian, and have heard about this opera before. Mainly for it being ridiculously long, as well as where the famous "Ride of the Valkyries" is from. Plus, there's an episode of Bugs Bunny loosely based on parts of it.

I had a full comment written asking about the difficulty but I'm glad I waited to go through the review to see there was a section on it. The way you're describing the sponge enemies gives me bad memories of Fire Warrior, where lesser armoured enemies would take 3-5 headshots (in a game where shooting in a straight direction is literally an alternate fire mode, I'm not kidding) or nearly your entire magazine for body shots. The original colour palette is still my absolute favourite for when day becomes night. Night in Shadows was terrifying, I haven't played a game that's given me the same feel since. A shame it doesn't really feel like a living world anymore, but maybe they can work on that? I'm not sure how well they can improve it much. Even so, there's really been a comeback lately for certain series, such as Space Marine, this, last year we had Baldur's Gate 3, etc. That Jesse edit was perfect though.

I didn't even know this game existed, and now I'll have to play it, it looks right up my alley.

I realize this is being somewhat pedantic, but Battletech's FTL isn't slow, it's nearly instantaneous from point to point, the catch comes from after they jump. The FTL engine needs to be recharged, and is extremely finicky about how much energy it can store in a given time-frame. So they charge the drive over several days via a solar sail, or if they are crazy and/or desperate a trickle charge from a fusion reactor. This combined with the relatively hard science portrayal of in-system travel times means it can take a days or weeks to reach a jumpship (a ship with the FTL engine) from a planet via dropship (think a stereotypical scfi style dropship but massively scaled up. To the point where most lower end dropships can carry 4 or more mechs directly into battle. They're also closer to what other settings would consider a small corvette or possible a patrol cutter in size and armed and armored accordingly) or vice versa.

The Journeyman Project is my top time travel series, just because the time agency actually takes time travel seriously, where in other stories people just mess up history right off the bat. It has flaws, sure, but the sequels acknowledge most of them, especially the second game, Buried in Time.

This game looked amazing when I first saw it, but it's also one of those games where that first glance showed the entire gameplay loop and that was it. I guess if you want a cool survival driving game, play Dead End Road instead. That game's great.

i would highly recomend the 2005 peter jackson 'king kong; movie its fantastic though the 'bug cave' section will give you nightmares.

The point of settings like the xeele sequence is to explore what is scientifically possible and what that would look like slash how that would affect life there are many hard scifi settings for the 80s and 90s that would simply stomp any of the more popular well known science fantasy setting because reality is just that ridiculous hell a k2 civilization would stomp the imperium and a kardishev 3 civ would put the war in heaven to shame its estimated we could reach k3 in like a million years and k 2 in like a 100 thousand with our current levels of tech no advancement going forward

i don't know which one, but apparently there's a puzzle in the game which requires you to check the colors of the disks for color matching. including the disk you are actively using in the disc drive.

If nothing else this video did get me to look back at Senua's Sacrifice. Something I'd forgotten on the stream is there's a cool bit that recontextualizes the the player-character relationship, where it's shown she is entirely aware the player exists, but assumes you are another aspect of her psychosis. Overall the sequel sounds like the usual issue where a smaller studio makes something cool, then is acquired by new execs, and made to do less with more budget because they (either the bigger dev team or the new execs) are more interested in making money than doing something unique.

"Ed Wood" is a legitimately good movie, great even. It's about real-life director Edward D. Wood Jr., who is infamous for making some of the worst movies in American history. It follows his struggles to direct his three most famous movies, "Glen or Glenda," "Bride of the Monster," and "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

Trick with Morghur isn’t JUST that he has regeneration, it’s also that he has high Missile resistance. If you haven’t played the game, I’ll summarize. Resistances are a flat, percentage damage reduction against various kinds of attacks. Resistances can stack together (in the same way that attacks can qualify as multiple kinda of attacks), and the maximum limit is 90. Examples; Missile: Anything that counts as a ranged attack. Physical: Purely physical attacks. Magical: Magical attacks (which includes being hit by spells) Fire: Any attack which is flaming. “Ward Save”: This is a resistance to EVERYTHING. Ward Save 5 means every attack just does 5% less damage. So, when I say Morghur has high Missile resistance, I mean he has *75% Missile Resustance.* So all ranged attacks will only do 1/4 the damage they SHOULD be doing to him. And hilariously, Morghur also has 25 Magical Resistance. If Ratling guns did Magical damage instead of Physical damage, they would have been even LESS effective against Morghur because they would have hit the resistance maximum of 90% damage reduction. (Since the game doesn’t allow ANYTHING to have 100% damage reduction, lol)
