I love ReBoot, not only did the show manage to age up with its audience, but the censors had the unintended side effect of creating a show where you get used to an episodic format, only for the villains to win at the end of season 2 and blindside everyone. There's no last minute save, no secret plan, the good guys lost, plain and simple. The main character of the show is gone, and now everyone has to make do. This would have been enough for practically every other series, but then the show changed styles again with its timeskip, and Woolie doesn't even touch on where the plot went after that. The show broke its own setting by giving the heroes the bad ending at least three separate times (not including the final cliffhanger), and yet it kept going anyway as everyone struggled to make do with what was left.
The show also kept this theme with its characters, where Matrix, the aged Enzo, presents himself as a Renegade who is too cool to care for anything, only for the series to address him as a profoundly broken person who hides his fear and self-loathing behind anger and indifference.
Sometimes breaking the setting even manifested in physical scars, Enzo obviously has his artificial eye, and as Woolie shows, Bob turns into some kind of mutant that looks like he crawled out of the sea.
Previously I'd recommended The Crushing Fall of ReBoot, but in hindsight it might not be a good one to cover. Woolie goes over the series in a way that spoils a lot less than you think he does, whereas that one will spoil everything. I know it might be laughable to talk about spoilers for an "old" show now, however I do believe ReBoot is still well worth watching, and would recommend it to anyone remotely curious. If you're worried about the cliffhanger, then just stop before the movies and treat them as extras you don't need, because the series has a perfect ending at Season 3 which wraps up these characters stories in a fantastic way.

Yeah it's funny that you can pinpoint the moment people behind the show just ascended to super saiyan levels of not giving a fuck about the censors and it's great. I need to check this show out without a doubt.
