The stuff with Grimgor in End Times is one of few aspects that at least doesn't feel completely out of character

Everyone seems to forget. The greatest victory of the Chaos Gods during the End Times, was to succesfully drop several points the IQ of all relevant figures within the the Warhammer world. How else do you explain how weirdly and stupidly most of them acted?

Seriously, the Vampires seem like the only ones with their shit together.
Maybe the reason for why it's all so braindead is because they just wanted to end well established lore with hundreds of characters and storylines to sell another product. All that in one big sweep. I mean... even big meteor that just landed on the Earth and destroyed entire civilizations, dried rivers, reshaped mountains and caused hunger and famine would make more sense than that and would be even quicker solution.

In the end the forces of the Old World couldn't stand against their most powerful foe: the Games Workshop corporate office. The world was doomed because it was unprofitable.
The world was not unprofitable the bloated rules and overpriced models in the game made it unplayable and unattractive to new players. The fiction books and the IP license sold well.
They literally could just lower the prices and stop fucking with rules all the time. The fact that Total War: Warhammer has literally 3 games, dozens of datadiscs and thousands of mods is proof enough that alot of people is into WH fantasy.
@@Neruomir Some 40k armies were selling more then all of Fantasy combined, there has been barely any new lore or models for years so once the players got what they needed they didn't need anymore plastic models and with the way of entry being so high new customers were no longer coming.

in my Warhammer(total war)....i beat down everybody bretons elves orcs undeads chaos...my only ally where the dwarfs ..so yeah the empire took most of the map.
But then Surtha Ek became the true everchosen with his ever respawning stack of chariots and he laid waste to the empire with his blood brother Fellman Ingersson

If u enjoy end times lore i highly recommend vermintide 2! Its dirt cheap nowadays and is a phenomenal game you can EASILY sink hundreds of hours in, i know i have lol

Ironic how they killed their entire setting when TW Warhammer was released around and the same time MASSIVELY boosted the popularity of Warhammer Fantasy.
And that's why we know get the Old World setting, which hopefully will make the End Times "alternative/non canon" lore

I heard that during the End Times Archaon killed a couple of Skaven in his rage for interfering in the duel and he spat in the Horned Rat's face, saying Horned Rat was unworthy or something like that...

more like teclis, he single handily did more for the end times then anyone else, the man thought he was playing 4d chess, but was actually playing rock paper rock with himself in a mirror
Do you guys aware of skaven did everything? Archaon simply waited half of the end times, while RATS wipe out estelia, tilea, lustria, dwarves and most of the empire. Hasnt anyone from the office said “hold on a sec what we just did”? Apart from skaven every single event can be summarised as “chaos win while order heroes act dumb because of reasons”
Archaon was empowered by the gods. The rats were empowered by GW. Watching them work was like watching a literal cat on a board of Warhammer miniatures, just smashing and destroying whatever it wants without any care or knowledge about lore or rules.
"Know for their legenary naval warfare tacitcs" ... the elven Seaguard sails stupidly into the next best green looking Nurgle mist to be slaugthered. The End Times writing everyone! Aint it amazing?
Every dumb action in the warhammer end times
1. The whole elven civil war thing is just nonsense. These people literally hate each other for thousands of years and somehow they all become best buddies under Malekith? Also making Tyrion the bad guy here is nonsense.
2. Chaos invading Naggaroth is way too easy. Dark elves have an extremely fortified northern border and this does nothing.
3. Lizardmen just sit around and let the Skaven attack them and the moon explode on them.
4. Southlands, southern wastes and far east are just completely ignored. Cathay is the largest realm of man and we have about a paragraph of what happened to it.
5. Tilea and Estalia pretend like the Skaven don’t exist, even though literally every source contradicts this and they actually mock the Empire for being ignorant of the rats. Tilea and Estalia are also the most experienced at fighting the Skaven and they get completely wide out in literally one weekend.
8. Kislev is the foremost bastion against Kislev and they also do almost nothing except die.
9. Balthasar Gelt is an idiot for no reason and causes the wall to collapse because he’s using necromancy, something he would never do.
10. I don’t think the Empire actually wins a serious major battle on its own. Every time they fight chaos, infinite northern reinforcements come or a vampire has to come and save them. (Marienburg, auric bastion, alrdoetf, middenheim, talabhein etc)
11. High king dies because a ducking door is left open.
What can you expect from greedy corp that doesn't care about fans and does everything only to sell another overpriced product? Shame such a great fantasy world is run by bunch of stupids.
12. Retconning Malekith as being worthy of the Phoenix throne the whole time and only didn't because he hesitated in the last minute, despite the fact prior to the “test” he allied with Slaanesh cults (you know the guys who worship the God who loves eating elf souls) , amass a traitorous Army, murdered the former Phoenix King, and killed anybody who dared question his blunt regicide. Why the hell would the Elven God of Law and Order ever think he be worthy of the throne.
13. The Skaven randomly joining sides with Chaos for no reason, considering they never did such a thing before and even allied with Order one time to stop one of Nagash’s plans.
14. Manfred deciding to kill Gelt just to spite Nagash which ultimately dooms the world and would most likely ensure he gets tortured for all eternity by the 4 chaos gods, good job there Manfred.
I'm actually okay with Manfred being that much of a dick. Incredibly petty, selfish, egotistical and short sighted actions are the hallmark of the rich.

There were two main priciples behind the End Times:
1) buy our new big models
2) remember this character? They just died.

Mazdamundi in canon: I rearrange continents because the sun ray position are off in about 2 degrees, which caused catastrophic consequence in the old world and created a sentient mountain to defend against dark elves

Honestly as much as I find alot in this stupid to the point of maddening. I find it stupidly awesome to see vampires rallying with the empire and bretonia. Instead of going with chaos or just destroying stuff.

Games Workshop wasn't making enough money from Warhammer Fantasy so they killed it off to make way for Age of Sigmar aka Age of Fantasy Space Marines. The writers rushed it, and most people think they didn't do a very good job.
Yes! Warhammer Age of Sigmar is not just the rightful successor and continuation of this story, it is what Warhammer Fantasy Battles should have been from the very beginning. An endless universe of neverending fantasy!
@@Basil_Ghothickovitch Nah... Disagree. The original universe was just fine. Yes, it had its flaws but it could have been fixed. Killing the world and replacing it with something which resembles 40k is lazy and bad writing at best.
Really enjoy the battle descriptions and tactics used segments, it would be fantastic to see more videos in this style for famous battles.
As someone who never got into warhammer and prefers the 40k universe, it's nice to get a summary of the biggest story plot to warhammer. It helped having played TWWH2, otherwise I'd have zero idea what was going on. Having seen familiar characters and regions, it was very easy to understood since the conflicts in those regions are part of the end times already.
Looking forward to the completion of the Horus Heresy summary.

It really needed to have alot more back and forth as it just made all the order factions so pathetic.
Thats what we call shit writing, GW needed the old Fantasy World killed off to bring in Space Marines for fantasy (AOS) and needed it to end as fast as possible.

The lack of backstabbing between Skavens is so fucking sad. I can understand making them strong in the end times, justifing it as them finaly working together, *BUT* in the middle of it they should have made one of the smaller Skaven clans, betray another small Skaven clan, causing a chain of bretrayal, that resulted in full Skaven civil war, making even the council of 13 brake off, and result in world wide chaotic Skaven warfare. It even could have resulted in the end by having a group that sides with the order factions and another that sides with chaos

when you've only watched the Kings & Generals channel, his narration makes you think it's actual history. so when you're passively listening, as I often do, and WARHAMMER is the content, the brain is connecting Nurgle and KHORNE to the shared human experience that IS history. My brain has been trained to think whatever this guy says is, in fact, our real history. It is, in fact, fiction. I have to keep reminding myself of this fact.

Its taken me 4 weeks to summon (or hold back the bile) the effort to write this.
Well done to the team for trying to make sense of the mess of the final book. The writing was so bad, people and armies (dead and alive) popped up with no real explanation of how or why. Timelines were so warped and ... you know never mind. Well done guys. It's done and can now be consigned to the pit where it should always have been left.
