I think this kid was one of the smartest people i’ve ever seen in a horror movie. Calls 911, brings the gun with him, immediately runs back to the car instead of f’ng around but unfortunately Michael outsmarted him

I love this scene, it’s show how the evil doesn’t care about you feelings or people.
It makes me laugh every time the old psychologist gets shot on the bus. Who the hell pops up out of nowhere saying "don't shoot" while spooking the person with the gun?
Well, it's not as common as some people who decide the best thing to do when confronted by armed police or citizens after committing a crime is to reach for their waistband/charge at the people woth guns/rip a tazer off one of them and shoot them/run away/raise their own gun at them. And all of those options are even stupider than what Sartaine did.

That is the point. You notice how it was very dark when they killed him? The ratings board are VERY strict about killing children. Because it was so dark and he had a deeper voice in theory he could have been as old as 17.

Got scared then panicked and took off. So would not get a whooping. For running with your finger on the trigger. Then almost killing someone. When he should have used the CB on the buss. To notify the authorities again.

This scene is hard to watch, because it involves a kid, but real child murderers do way more vile and evil things than what's shown here. This is pretty tame compared to reality...
Michael isn't a child murderer though... Just completely... Inate. He doesn't process anything, such as right or wrong.

Yeah. When Hawkins goes to talk to the sheriff he says they found the rest of them and 2 of them were even chasing butterflies. So apart from Michael the rest were insane but harmless.

Yeah...not a smart move. The rest of the comments saying, "Oh but they were harmless," not a really good mentality. If someone has bad enough psychological issues that they are in a facility, you can't assume their state of mind or if something might set them off.
The ignorance on psychopaths. Regardless, assuming all mentally ill people are dangerous and violent is also an extreme to avoid as a lot will kill them without second thoughts.
Michael Myers had the ability to drive away with their car but instead he waits inside and just kills Lumpy. Poor kid. So he kills Lumpy but then doesn’t kill the crying baby. I guess he has limits.
despite, at least from the perspective of someone that has no empathy, crying babies probably being more unnerving.

My own theory is also bc babies can’t comprehend the situation, so they lack the ability to experience terror & fear like the people Michael kills. Probably also why he never kills Loomis. Loomis fears him, but he’s willing to hunt & kill Michael

Michael is supposed to be the physical embodiment of evil. Of course he'll kill a kid if it suits his needs. The only reason he didn't in the first movie is most likely because it was the 70's and there's no way in hell that would have gone through without a serious uproar from the public.

Legally speaking, a 15 year-old is still a child. You might disagree with that, and that's (probably) fine, but that doesn't change society's definition of a child, being a young person below the legal age of majority.
Michael needed a car and that kid was in his way.
He did not need anything in that one house that would have necessitated killing the baby.
Let's be real, though, Michael not killing that baby is most likely the same situation as killing kids in the 70's. Audiences would freak the hell out over it, and not in a good way. For the record, I don't think it would sit right with me either.
