Great show. Really nice to see a photographer using gear that most of us can afford and not the latest, greatest, new and expensive stuff. I’ve been shooting a lot more with my old 25mm and EM-10 mk ii. Great photos Thanks again for the motivation.

I'm so jealous! I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth and walk around looking for 'good' photographs and I know they are there but I can't ever do them justice. The way you find compositions is phenomenal as are your actual photos. Great video:)

The old steel works used to look amazing at night with the furnace running. The gas containers light up well at sunset. But no-one in the history of photography has ever taken a decent picture of the nuclear power station. Lovely processing 👌

Your industrial photography is great! No doubt there are a lot of great stories that went into the design and building of these factories and machines. For the places that are still in operation, engineers, technicians, and operators are doing good work to create the things we need. Thanks for showing us your images today.

Sadly the steel works have gone. Don McCullin visited the area back in the early 70s, smoking chimneys and sea coalers. Ridley Scott went to West Hartlepool art collage and he photographed a lot of the grime, which they say gave him the darkness for Blade Runner. Also Chris Killip did a fair bit in the area. Angus the monkey is the Mascot for Hartlepool FC. The area was also shelled in the first world war by German Ships, hence the Gun emplacement. The oil rigs are being taken apart for scrap.

Great shots, Craig and interesting locations. I agree with you about shooting long exposures these days as I am bit bored with them as well with the hassle of setting up your tripod and getting your filters ready etc. I quite like the simplicity of just hand held shots more these days. Anyway great video.

The significance of the monkey in Hartlepool hails from the neapolionic war when a monkey was gifted to the town however the locals viewed this as a suspicious act and tried the monkey as a spy and having found it guilty as such they sentenced it to hanging which they duly did....the football team are nicknamed the monkey hangers in reference to this event

      This story is wrong.
I am a native of the NE and the story is thus : -
A French warship foundered off Hartlepool during the Napoleonic Wars and a monkey in a little Matelot's uniform was washed up on Hartlepool shore. The locals having never seen a Frenchman suspected the monkey of being a spy as he was clearly chattering away in a language that could have been French. The Mayor put the monkey on trial and he was found guilty of spying, he was hung the next day.
Hartlepool United used to have a mascot in a monkey suit known as Hangus, rather strangely he later became Mayor of Hartlepool.
Then there is the joke : -
3 monkeys in a spaceship in orbit around the Earth, one American, one Russian and one British.
Russian monkey says to American Monkey, where do you want land?
American monkey replies, slap bang in the middle of Times Square NY, to be given the Congressional Medal of Honour by the President.
American monkey says to Russian monkey where do want to land Bud?
I want to land slap bang in the middle of Red Square Moscow and be given the Hero of the Russian Federation Medal by President Putin.
The Russian and American monkeys say to the British monkey, hey where do you want to land?
British monkey answered any f-----g where but Hartlepool.

She passed away when I was 9 so we hardly ever went back, but back in 2018 we went back and did a few hours at South Gare plus Hartlepool etc. Loved your images! Yes, my kind too. Dare I say much more photogenic than mountain lakes and rolling hills. You've inspired me to go out to the industrial area of Kwinana, south of Fremantle, to see if I can get any nature vs industry shots similar to yours.
One of the pleasures I get from watching videos like this is to open up Google Earth and see if I can work out just where you were. Today there were a couple of "Ooh yes, that's the breakwater he was on in Hartlepool." moments. Great video and Cheers from DownUnder 🦘
