Rachel,, my husband has a bad heart and dementia, and tends to wander, almost a year ago he left the house in the middle of the night, to make a long story as short as possible, someone walking their dog saw him and called the police, he had a medical bracelet with his name and address and medical info, the police brought him home, and one officer told me to contact our county sherriff's apt. that they had a program that offers a GPS bracelet so if he wanders they can find him quickly, it is worn 24/7. We also have taken other measures since then to keep him safe. Not all places have this, but it sure would be worth asking about. So glad Kyle is Ok!
So very sorry you had to go through this-such a scary thing to happen!! I can understand how Kyle just wanted to do something normal! I am so happy that he is able to have his surgery soon-I am a brand new subscriber and on my own journey with this horrible disease! I hope you can have a few uneventful days before the surgery!💜
The “point of separation” (him going for a walk, you staying back to make dinner) is a key factor of many missing cases in woods, mountains, etc. Even with a known trail. Add to it a seizure, having to rely on a phone and a cell signal. Beyond frightening experience. This was a close call. Keep each other sighted.
I can't imagine your fear...I am so thankful that he wasn't hurt badly. You are such a great wife, he is so lucky to have you. Praying surgery will give you both a happy long life together.

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!
Yes, dr.porassss. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.
Thank you for the kindness! We have had a lot of conversations between us and care providers and don’t want to take the independence away so finding new systems so it’s safe. (Having a location sharing, specifically sharing where he is taking a walk and having a life alert with him)
I am so glad you told your very frightful story of your husband. I can see why you would have PTSD. One of your listeners suggested a GPS bracelet and a medical alert bracelet, that sounds like a safe plan. I hope your husband is better and the surgery is successful. It is great to have people around you who can help.
So glad that he wasn’t hurt badly. I have an apple air tag in my hiking bag where my family has access to in case of emergency to get my location. Maybe this would be also worth a try for you? Rooting for you and hugs for both of you❤
Unfortunately you need to be within 30 feet to track using an airtag. Airtags rely on other iphone users to assist in tracking so they are only useful in high traffic areas. More remote areas like mountains they are pretty useless. Better to use an app specific to location or turn on sharing in an iphone to track another person, which requires both people to agree.
@@carolp-il2sl it worked in my case many times but maybe I wasn’t remote enough (?). I’ve tried some apps but they’ve used always a lot of battery of my phone. So I think maybe it depends on your location and length of the trip which method is to prefer :)
Oh Rachel I’m so happy Kyle is ok!! I can imagine how scary that was. As I’ve said before my husband had a stroke 4.5 years ago and I worry about that scenario every day myself. So glad you were able to track him down and he is healing. Thank goodness he has you❤❤ Stay strong you two🙏🏼🙏🏼♥️♥️
Thank you for your loving kindness! I hope you never experience this and hope you all have tools in place to avoid it if it does. We have now installed a location sharing app on our phones to avoid anything like that again
Rachel, look into getting a dog trained to know when a seizure is about to occur with Kyle. That way he can have his independent lifestyle going on walks and you don’t need to worry that he’s going to be alone and have a seizure while walking. Also get a first alert medical device so that if he has an emergency the alert button can be activated and medical help will be sent to him no matter where he is. It’s scary when a loved one has a seizure thank goodness you found him.
A seizure dog would be amazing I’ve looked into it and they are Insanely expensive I’m talking thousands and thousands of dollars sadly. That life alert is so important and Kyle does have one!!
@@SimplyRachelOBare do a google search for canine assistants as I said earlier in a post that got deleted this organization has sponsored training dogs that big companies like Delta Airlines sponsor and pay for the training of the dogs so that people like your husband can get a service dog without paying the absorbent fee for the service dog. You would only need to go to their training facility so the dog chosen as his service dog can be around him and sense what he needs. There maybe a waiting list you just have to apply to get on the list. Good luck
Life 360 has been a lifesaver for us. I have ms and multiple other neurological disorders and sometimes get lost in my own neighborhood. It saved our butts a few times.
Firstly I am sorry to hear the challenges you are facing I’m sending you my love 🤍 I’m so glad though that you’ve been able to have that tool to give you independence. We downloaded it ourselves!

You should put on his phone SAHRE LOCATION and then you will find him easlly
